It seems, hopefully only temporarily, that the happy go lucky feels on Peter Moren, Bjorn Yttling and John Eriksson's defining hit "Young Folk" may be taking something of a back seat with their new album Darker Days. Or is it really? The album has been described as "Peter tackling what's happening in the world right now, Bjorn delving into relationship issues and John, the most existential, exploring the shadows of our own psyche." Hmm, well upon listening, thankfully, "One for the Team" is as colourful as anything you might expect from classic Beatles album Yellow Submarine, while there are deeper strokes of grunge to be heard in "Gut Feeling", but the more spirited tropes of PB&J that we all fell in love are safely there in "Every Other Night". Darker days, maybe, but there's plenty of light at the end of the tunnel.
