Perseus Traxx aka Nigel Stephen Rogers is steadily gaining a reputation as one of the few producers who successfully creates a sound that noda to the old skool yet remains somehow fresh and contemporary. Dutch label Bunker have snapped him up for his second release, honing in on his inherent soul and breadth of style - from classic 303 manipulations to a deeper, more atmospheric composition. "Bunker 3093" is a five track offering which exploits complex beats and an array of cleverly combined elements; electro synths, fluttering drum patterns and manipulated chords weave throughout this release in a showcase of variance. "Andromeda" with its distinct rave feel of whirring synths and heavy drums leads to "U", which opens and closes with a soothing tidal wave sample, washing up into crisp crackles and a relentless chord sequence that makes it Juno's pick of the bunch. "Destination Drexciya" contrasts delightfully, dominated by cosmic bleeps and siren-esque samples. On the reverse "Sticky Fingers'" heavy kick and rapid hi-hats lie against a hollow melody and a twanging synth. Lastly, "Buck Rogers" oozes metallic percussion and again, a deliriously dance worthy synth line.
