|1.||"Giallo" (Soft Rocks Flesh & Fantasy remix)|
Given the Belgian origins of this 12" - nu-disco/weird house veteran Mugwump joining forces with Brussels-based deep and tech-house producer D.C Salas - it's perhaps unsurprising that "Giallo" swings at a new beat tempo. In its' original form, the track layers horror-influenced synths, electronics and dystopian guitar solos over a bubbling midtempo rhythm. Soft Rocks provide the obligatory remix, taking the track further into ket-addled darkroom territory with the addition of some moody acid lines and haunting electronics. The EP's final salvo, "Hinterlands", sounds like an EBM-period fusion of new beat rhythms, sharp synths and Italo-style arpeggios. It's tough but wonky, in true EBM style.
