Ever since Moire's debut on Ninja Tune back in 2013, we've been loyal fans of his output, a dark and menacing take on techno that focussed more on the harmonics than the kick drums. He's up on Spectral Sound this time, and although we were surprised at first, we were quick to realise that his sound might well be the perfect sort of addition to Matthew Dear's legendary Detroit label. "Red Circle" features Bones on the vocal chops, and it is perhaps the quirkiest tune that we've heard from Moire, its bouncy waves of house are soothing and playful. "Brixton" is leaner and broken into pieces, but Moire manages to transmit a sense of soulfulness thanks to the chord stabs that propel the tune forwards; the flip sees "Lines + Colours" enter a more aggressive, more deranged territory that hints at acid through its disjointed, molecular bleeps.
