Over the years, Italian producer Marcello Giordani has proved to be rather adept at crafting the sort of intoxicating, floor-friendly fodder that can't be easily categorized. As this excellent debut album for Endless Flight proves, he's a dab hand at fusing warm, late night deep house with influences that range from disco and boogie to techno and jazz. Exuding the sort of aural dirt and jazzy warmth that marks out the best Detroit deep house productions (think Moodymann, Rick Wilhite etc), Respect Yourself proves that deep house albums need not be dull and one-paced. In fact, it's the album's most gloriously disco-influenced moment, "Respect Yourself", that really stands out.
