Arthur Russell made many fine records during his all-to-brief lifetime, though few are quite as fun, funky and freewheeling as 1980's 'Is It All Over My Face', the first single from his Loose Joints project with Steve D'Acquisto. Originally released at the tail end of the disco era and heavily influenced by the no-wave and punk-funk scene in downtown NYC, the track delivers a fittingly loose-limbed take on disco laden with attractive instrument solos, percussion-laden dancefloor breakdowns and vocals that are alternately inspired and unruly. This reissue boasts both of the original 12" mixes: the much-loved, funk-fuelled 'Female Version' and the raw and raucous 'Male Version', where Russell and D'Acquisto share lead vocals.
