The archival recordings Gwen Jamois made under the name Iueke at various points from the early '90s onwards have become an integral part of Antinote Recordings. As ever, this fourth Iueke 12" for Antinote (confusingly called Tapes 5) brings about all manner of internal questioning regarding how vastly ahead of the curve Jamois was when the material was originally committed. Fans of the recent KM20 Tapes editions from Move D on Off Minor will definitely resonate with the mystical patterns drawn on the lead Iueke cut here, though it's there's a marked downturn in tempo as "Tape 5.1" hones into view on the flip, with the fuzz from the tape very much apparent - bit of a -8 Soundstream vibe to this one. "Tape 5.2" finds Iueke excelling at beatless new age ambience. What a boss.
