Lithuanian producer Mindaugas Lapinskis, also to be found moonlighting in Downtown Party Network, debuts a new solo project here and scores a vinyl release on Maceo Plex's imprint as a strong start to Gardens Of God. Ys is steeped in melancholic drama conveyed through warm, full-bodied synths, taking the blueprint laid out by the likes of the Innervisions stable to the next level. The title track lays out its features with poise, lilting between peaks of chords and swells with the most delicately placed drum beats nudging the tidal tech house along. "Are We" follows a similar musical path, although it is embellished by the vocal tones of Egle Sirvydyte, while "Apnea" takes a sunnier tact with the emotive notes it reaches for.
