Following sterling turns from De Ambassade, Cold Front, Jean-Luc and Dark Star amongst others, the ever-productive Amsterdam label Knekelhuis barrels towards the close of 2019 with a new set from one of its core artists, EYE. Laurene Exposito's project is a hauntological delight, caked in the tape fuzz of yesteryear and adorned with scratchy voice samples and wobbly analogue synths, but the style is no swap out for substance here. These are beautifully crafted pieces with harmonic nous and bold thematic qualities - fans of early Human League, Ghost Box and Pye Corner Audio take note, but also be aware that Exposito has her own voice within this rich seam of inspiration that will hook you in from the first listen.
