The debut EP from Buscrates 16 Bit Ensemble and Sam Champ, Extra Medium pays homage to many sectors: the fine art of sampling, jazz, soul and hip-hop. Timeless, alluring, perfectly tempered and sporting some very talented vocalists, it's one of those records you feel like you've known forever on the first listen. Highlights include the dreamy sweeps and Ty-like flow "Know Thy Self" and the lolloping, Brownswood / Amp Fiddler soul of "Born Again". There's an album in the pipeline apparently... judging by this 10" yardstick, it's going to be pretty special.
