Uganda's Nyege Nyege Tapes, run out of Kampala, continues its impressive project with a new LP from the most local of sources, the great Ekuka Morris Sirikiti, a man who hails from the northern part of the country. The music on this album is from the everyday and largely improvised, presented to the listener as it is played in the streets, markets or local parties. The sounds come mainly from a small, handheld piano known as a "Lukerne", distorted and brought to a new life with all sorts of locally made electronic processors and foot-pedals. The result is a highly immersive flurry of sounds that take on a life of their own as they glide through the speakers. We believe it to be blissful. What an album! Warmly recommended.
