Some 18 months have passed since Eastern Roots' last release, so it's good to see them back in action and in such fine form, too. The focus here is largely on the A-side hook-up with roots scene stalwart I-David. In both its original and Dub Mix variations, "Freedom Fighter" is an exercise in floor-friendly dub reggae rich in Augustus Pablo style Melodica solos, meandering delay trails, ricocheting percussion and heavy sub-bass. Over on side B, Eastern Roots goes solo on two versions of the more exotic and electronic soundsystem dub workout "Elements", with the decidedly trippy and mind-altering Dub revision being our pick.
