Psychic Mirrors' superbly titled front man Mickey de Grand IV and EDG4R form the Dreamboat project, suitably named on the basis of this debut 12" offering on the Cosmic Chronic label. Special Kiss sees the Miami pair indulge in a fuzzy edged brand of romantic boogie, with it's naive production idiosyncrasies for all to see - whilst the heavy falsetto delivery of de Grand adds an element of distinctiveness to Dreamboat that lifts them above mere retroactive pastiche. Extra points are awarded to Cosmic Chronic for the decision to enlist Superior Elevation's Tom Noble to remix the title track with typically excellent results. Fans of his output or PPU and vintage Italians Do It Better should definitely check this little nugget of a 12".
