Following a year spent honing their sound on Chiwax, SOS, Black Venison and Love Notes, Sagats and DJ Octopus find a new home for their Die Roh project. The 1968 EP - featuring artwork that pays tribute to Richard Nixon's successful US presidential campaign - is the first release on the freshly minted Campaign Trail imprint. As usual, there's much to admire, from the baggy pianos, fizzing rhythms and undulating bassline of "We Were Able To Sing", to the decidedly banging loop funk of "Stefano Nardo's Theme". There are plenty of vintage influences to be found on the other two tracks; closer "Rosario" doffs a cap to classic, basement-friendly instrumental US garage, while "Xm22" brilliantly blends woozy deep house and scuttling 4/4 UK garage rhythms.
