Following a one-off outing on Exit Strategy (the fine deep house/tech-house fusion of the Axle EP), Aeon alumnus Denis Horvat makes his first appearance on Afterlife Recordings. There's much to admire throughout, not least the hypnotic rhythms, sparse new wave synths, layered percussion hits and trippy stereo panning of A-side "Modelo". Horvat explores his love of fuzzy, minimal wave style synthesizer melodies further on the left-field tech-house flex of "The Bender", before diving deeper into Germanic tech-house waters on "Natural Causes", a track marked out by the rising and falling fluctuations of a bold and brassy arpeggio line.
