Beat Electric's latest must check single boasts some top-notch previously unheard 1980s boogie business courtesy of Dayton Flic, an Ohio-based combo who apparently recorded the two tracks here for a Sony Records run demo competition. They didn't win a contract with the major label, but both cuts - which have been rescued from their cassette submission - are synth-heavy gold. We're particularly enjoying "Livin For Your Love", which contains some of the best slap bass around, as well as strong group vocals and chiming synthesizer lines. Flipside "I'm Mad" sees them grab a talk box and dance giddily towards flash-fried, Bootsy style P-funk territory. The track's guitar solo is particularly special!
