Southern Italian duo Crossing Avenue were a surprising highlight at last year's Berlin Atonal Festival in Berlin. While not much was known of the pair at the time, it soon became apparent why they were signed to Donato Dozzy and Neel's revered imprint - their high fidelity interpretations of deeply hypnotic techno. Indeed the material on their Avantieri EP features exactly the kind of entrancing, mentalist adventures that you could expect the Italian figureheads to play in their own acclaimed sets, from the strobe-lit tribalism of "Laguna" which would make even Refracted or Dorisburg stand up and notice, to the introspective B side cuts like the tunnelling, freefall vortex of "Vilipendio" or "Mekong" - a slow-motion raindance for martians.
