Review: Wah Wah 45s was founded in 1999 by Dom Servini and Adam Scrimshire, two DJs and music lovers who wanted to share their passion for quality music with the world. Centring largely on acid jazz, afrobeat, soul and adjacent genres, their repertoire is of impeccable quality, and adding to this trend is a new 7" from Espen Horne. The Norweigan composer and producer is best known for his work as Bobby Hughes Experience and Bobby Hughes Combination, two aliases under which he released albums of cinematic jazz-funk fusion on labels such as Stereo Deluxe and Schema Records. 'Bakeren' and 'Bergen Sunrays', though, are an indubitable pair of neo-soul slappers, and a rare addition to his non-alias moniker - more close to the bone, perhaps - flaunting Horne's dual-wielded talents as both a live instrumentalist and producer.
