  8. Vibrations (8:50)
Review: Given that he made his vinyl debut five years ago, it could be argued that this debut album from Traffic Records founder Bodin Stojanovski is well overdue. As you'd perhaps expect, "Revox" retains a sharp club focus throughout, though there's still plenty of variety amongst the chunky, tech-tinged house cuts on offer. For example, compare and contrast the stabbing, acid-powered chunkiness of the title track, the shuffling, intergalactic electro of "Move Out", the subtle U.S garage and Motor City techno influences of "Gecko", and the stomping, lo-fi tech-funk of "Overture". Opener "Phonecall", whose bleeping, stabbing melodies will wriggle into your subconscious, is also superb.

Challenjour EP

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Frostnach (8:15)
  2. Challenjour (6:20)
  3. Jericho (7:01)
  4. Wrath (5:58)
Review: Since 2015, Jacob Chenaux has been serving up singles made in collaboration with fellow Offenbach resident Martyne. Here he goes solo for the very first time with a four-track outing on Traffic. He eases us in gently via the crunchy techno-funk of "Frostnach" - all bouncy drum machine beats, rumbling bass and minor key organ melodies - before heading to deep space via the sci-fi bleeps, supersonic noises and robust drums of "Challenjour". Flip to the B-side for the wayward early morning techno throb of "Jericho" and the rubbery goodness of "Wrath", where Motor City style chords and chiming melodies rise above unfussy machine beats and a squelchy analogue bassline.

Techno
  1. KBU (8:27)
  2. Gischfort (7:40)
  3. Diffused Slap (8:20)
Review: Following a few fine outings on PARTOUT and Pressure Traxx, Cedric Dekowski makes his first appearance on Frankfurt imprint Traffic. The Offenbach-based producer kicks things off with "KBU", a fine fusion of off-key, modular-sounding electronic motifs, simmering melodies and a rhythm track that's arguably closer to house than techno. The feeling that he's really exploring the techno end of the tech-house spectrum intensifies on acid-flecked flipside opener "Glischfort", whose combination of squelchy acid bass and minor key stabs is undeniably alluring. Dekowski's 'all-rounder' status is confirmed by weird, dubbed-out closing cut "Diffused Slap", a bass-heavy excursion rich in minimal techno style drums, jazzy electronic flourishes and all manner of wonky noises.
