Review: DMX Krew is a legend, and that's that. He has been busting out blistering beats for decades and each new one is as thrilling and potent as the last. It is Super Rhythm Trax who tap him up here for six sizzling tracks that all bring the rave. There is raw bass and textured synth work run through with wild acid on the opener. 'Second Moon' then lurches, spins outs and boggles the brain and after an interlude, the flip side brings coruscated acid-techno on 'The Wiggly Worm' (remix). Bulky bass bumps and chattering percussion give 'It Isn't What It Was' a playful freakiness and a second interlude shuts down this latest and great DMX EP.

KRS (5:25)
Not Getting In (5:39)
Colonel (5:29)
Off The Bat (5:39)
Review: Fear-E is Scott McKay, a Glasgow based DJ and producer who has represented hometown heroes Dixon Avenue Basement Jams on a few standout EPs, as well as Dundee's Hilltown Disco among others. He returns to Super Rhythm Trax for the first time in nearly four years with this new four-tracker titled Pigs Do Fly, packed full of retro techno jams that you've come to know him for. The strobed-out dancefloor madness of opening cut 'KRS' calls to mind classic Nu Groove, while the old school acid jack of 'Colonel' will also to have you reaching for the lasers and the moody string arrangements on 'Off the Bat' are underpinned by some mad 909 drum patterns to continue the dance well into the morning,

The Sweat EP
Cat: SRTX 035. Rel: 17 May 22

Minimal/Tech House
Sweat (Techno mix) (6:46)
Sweat (Electro mix) (5:21)
She Can Get The Strap (6:02)
606XOX (6:54)
Review: Next on the ever reliable Super Rhythm Trax is a true staple of New York City's club scene - Lauren Flax. The Detroit native is a member of the Brooklyn-based band CREEP with Lauren Dillard, and was also Fischerspooner's tour DJ. On this strong four-tracker, she serves up two versions of 'Sweat'; there's the jacking acid Techno mix up first, followed by some straight-up computer funk on the Electro mix that follows. Over on the flip, go deep into the afterhours on another 303 driven cut 'She Can Get The Strap' before channeling the harder house sounds of mid '90s Chicago on '606XOX'.

Deep House
The Warning (5:14)
Harlesden Shuffle (extended 12" Disco mix) (8:15)
Combustion Zone (6:42)
House Thing (6:08)
Review: Jerome Hill is having a fine year - back in February he turned out his superb Flow Mechanics album on Hypercolour and now he is back on Super Rhythm Trax with a fire four-track electro and house outing. The opener 'The Warning' is a prickly one with acidic lines and raw, chattering claps making for a menacing vibe. 'Harlesden Shuffle' (extended 12" Disco mix) is then a wonky disco-tinged minimal cut with Wagon Repair-style synth leads and plenty of acid stabs. There is plenty of bite to the jacked-up B-side cut 'Combustion Zone' then 'House Thing' rounds out with early Chicago vibes, dusty drums and naughty basslines.

Outer Space EP
Cat: SRTX 008. Rel: 15 Feb 16

Techno
Outer Space (6:25)
End Of Line (6:38)
Review: In the space of just a few years, Luca Lozano has made a busy schedule for himself. Managing Klasse Records and Grafiti Tapes, he has released a load of music both form himself and a number of artists, such as Kris Wadsworth and DJ Fett Burger, among many others. This time he's up on the excellent Super Rhythm Trax with a little vintage flavor; "Outer Space" makes up the A-side and it's a gorgeous, break-ridden dance stepper in the same vein as stuff from the likes of Horsepower Productions, back in their day. On the flipside, "End Of Line" is a certified UK swinger, a grimey beast of a tune with a heavy percussion march and that inimitable London feel. Recommended.

Summer Of Love EP
Cat: SRTX 036. Rel: 31 May 22

Deep House
Breakbleep (5:19)
My Little Kawai (6:46)
Summer Of Love (Endless mix) (5:52)
Summer Of Love (DJ Steve remix) (5:30)
Review: Few producers have proved quite as adept at crafting nostalgic slabs of dancefloor retro-futurism as Luca Lozano. The Sheffield-based producer's inspirations are hardly hidden - think bleep & bass, early breakbeat hardcore, acid house etc - but he still manages to meld familiar rave-era sounds into pleasing new shapes. The headline attraction on the producer's latest EP for Super Rhythm Traxx is arguably 'Summer of Love (Endless Mix)', a pleasingly bouncy, sub-heavy chunk of melody-laden, dub-flecked breakbeat attractiveness laced with spacey synth sounds and trippy electronics. It comes backed by a more upbeat breakbeat hardcore style revision from DJ Steve. Elsewhere, 'Breakbleep' lives up to its descriptive title and 'My Little Kawai' sounds like a deep house, acid-sporting tribute to Ability II style dub-wise UK techno.

Protocol (4:56)
Like A Dragon (5:15)
Dacid (4:55)
Petsamo (5:58)
Review: As you can probably guess from the artist's name, Type 303 likes a bit of acid. It is what defines the first tune here on this new EP for Super Rhythm Trax: 'Protocol' is a wonky and undulating deep techno cut with a mix or prickly and smooth acid lines. 'Like A Dragon' then spins out into the cosmos with atmospheric pads and jumped percussion then 'Dacid' ups the ante with more jacked-up analogue drums and gritty, prickly 303 madness. 'Petsamo' closes out with a more trippy and cosmic outlook that gets your head up and gazing at the stars. Four fresh ways of bringing acid to the dance floor.

Ghetto House Bangers
Cat: SRTX 022. Rel: 30 May 18

Techno
Bounce It Baby (4:26)
Otis Ghetto House (4:10)
Check Dis Out (4:42)
Keep On Jukin (4:31)
You Big Dummy (4:49)
Get Em Girl (4:40)
Review: Those well versed in ghetto house history should know all about Wax Master Maurice, a Chicago originator who released a string of on-point EPs on Dance Mania throughout the second half of the '90s. This surprise 12" for Super Rhythm Trax marks his first appearance on vinyl since 2008's footwork-inspired Waxmaster Make 'Em Juke EP. The material here is closer in tone to his now-classic releases, though there are some nods to B-more club (see "Otis Ghetto House") and, of course, the juke movement of recent years ("Keep On Jukin"). Naturally, all six tracks are formidably club-focused, brilliantly combining chopped-up samples (snaking sax lines, bits of old funk records, looped vocal snippets) with the kind of boundless, energetic rhythms that send Chicago dancers crazy.
