Got To Get Your Love (Muro Diguma edit) (5:21)
Got To Get Your Love (Muro Diguma edit - instrumental) (4:15)
Review: The latest set of Diguma Edits sees dusty-fingered Japanese digger-turned-re-editor DJ Muro take his scalpel to 'Got to Get Your Love' by Clyde Alexander & Sanction, a suspenseful and action-packed 1980 number from producers Peter Brown and Gary Davis. Muro first cuts down and compresses the ten-minute vocal version, making merry with the track's unusual combination of classic disco grooves, showtunes-style orchestration and eccentric vocals. Over on the flip he does a similar job on the slightly different instrumental take, in turns showcasing the track's crunchy guitars, warming electric pianos, spacey synths and grandiose orchestration.

Best Friend Around - "It's So Good To Know" (Muro Diguma edit) (4:36)
Foster Jackson Group - "Feel The Spirit" (Muro Diguma edit) (4:10)
Review: Given his reputation as Japan's "king of digging", you'll be unsurprised to learn that DJ Muro's latest scalpel-style Diguma Edits are of thoroughly obscure, hard-to-find disco cuts. For example, an original copy of Best Friend Around's hard to find modern soul-goes-disco number 'It's So Good to Know' - a warming and glassy-eyed cut full of hazy grooves, super-sweet vocals and spacey synth sounds - would cost you hundreds of pounds; Muro's shortened, light-touch edit seems a bargain at a fraction of the cost. Foaster Jackon Group's similarly rare 'Feel the Spirit', a carnival-ready slab of Brazilian influenced jazz-funk/disco-funk fusion, is given the Muro touch on the flip, with equally as exemplary results.

Nightlife (Muro edit) (4:22)
Who Is Blair (Muro edit) (4:29)
Review: 'Nightlife' is arguably one of the utmost Northern soul rarities to have surfaced this year. Its maker, the guitarist and songwriter Barney 'Blair' Perry, released the eponymous single and album in 1978, at the age of 25. Comprised of six short pieces, the full album has never seen a proper reissue (for the aristo's out there with with money to spare, here's an artist to track down and an album to license!). Thankfully, in the meantime, we're kept occupied with this split single reissue from Positive Pay, who focus only on the first and third tracks, 'Nightlife' and 'Who Is Blair'. These are good choices: the former is a vibraslapping, synth bass cooldown for sumptuous city-slicking, while the latter is a strident strut, more suited for confident daytime city-walking.

Funk
The Groove I Feel (edit) (4:45)
Zulu (4:44)
Review: Positive Pay For Japan are having a busy month with the release of a couple of stone cold classics. The first was a pair of great edits, one of which reworked a Larry Levon tune to perfection. And now come two more, with both originals by Bohannon. Up first is a tidy little edit of 'The Groove I Feel' which has its breakdowns drawn out and drums beefed up. Plenty of cute little guitar riffs add the funk next to the chunky drums. On the flip is the more high speed and psyched-out, afro tinged funk of 'Zulu,' which cannot fail to make a floor move.

Let No Man Put Asunder (DJ Koco aka Shimokita edit) (4:12)
Let No Man Put Asunder (DJ Koco aka Shimokita dub) (3:41)
Review: Over the years, First Choice's 1983 disco hit 'Let No Man Asunder' has been remixed and re-edited countless times, yet producers are still able to find new ways to reinterpret it. The latest to pass the test with flying colours is DJ Koco AKA Shimokita, who here serves up two fresh reworks. His A-side edit makes the most of the track's infectious groove, jammed-out electric piano chords and spacey synths, eventually introducing the group's brilliant vocals in order to take it to another level. Arguably even better is the stripped-back flipside dub, which sounds like it was crafted from the master tapes. It naturally plays around with the percussion, bassline and vocals, delivering what could be the heaviest take on the track of all time.

Come Back Lover (Muro edit) (4:20)
Come Back Lover (Muro dub edit) (4:56)
Review: Fresh Band's 'Come Back Lover' is a boogie holy grail, originally released in 1984 and subject to bootlegging over the years by the ever-hungry market of electro funk diggers. It's had a reissue in the not-too-distant past but now Japanese maestro Muro has got his hands all over it and he's given it a tasteful nip and tuck for the dancefloor heads, succinctly pressed onto this bang tidy 7" from heaven. There's the righteous, anthem perfection of the full vocal hit on the A-side or the undisturbed groove of the instrumental version on the B side, take your pick and get on down.

Inner Life - "Make It Last Forever" (Larry Levan Paradise Garage 12" mix - Diguma aka Muro edit) (4:53)
Candido - "Jingo" (Moplen remix - aka Muro Diguma edit) (4:31)
Review: Positive Pay For Japan takes us back to the start here with a disco tinged house gem from Inner Life, as remixed by the legendary Paradise Garage resident Larry Levan and edited by Diguma aka Muro. It's a gorgeously laidback track full of yearning vocals and squelchy synth bass. Big, lush strings add that classic feeling of luxury and you never want it to end. On the flip, Muro Diguma edits a remix of Candido's 'Jingo' that is a supercharged tropical disco cut with busy percussion, steamy vocals and surging drum work. Two timeless tunes for sure.

Got You Dancing (Muro Diguma edit) (4:55)
Got You Dancing (Muro Diguma edit - instrumental) (4:50)
Review: For the latest instalment in his ongoing Diguma Edits series, Japanese "King of Diggin'" DJ Muro has taken his scalpel to Karisma's 'Got You Dancing', a turn-of-the '80s gem featuring lead vocals from Jocelyn Brown that was first released by Peter Brown's cult disco label Sounds of the Universe. The real bomb on this edition is the full vocal version, where Brown's typically strong and soulful singing rises above slick boogie bass, colourful synth sounds, funk guitar licks and unfussy drums. That said, the dub style instrumental edit is really rather good too, with Muro wisely making more room for echoing vocal snippets, instrumental breakdowns and extended percussion passages.
