Review: Lopazz and Alex Cortex have always enjoyed a cult status with their Bad Cop Bad Cop project, and now on the eve of their debut album the pair are getting remixed from all angles. Tobias is on deadly form with his slender work on "Hilton Hihat", creating a sumptuous tapestry of interlocking melodies that weave around a crisp beat in that most trancey of techno ways. In contrast Kemetrix brings a thoroughly strange and spaced out kind of techno rumble with an industrial finish, while the B-side finds soft, enveloping dub perspectives from Group Niob and Brendon Moeller.

Review: Typical, you wait months for some new Tin Man material and two records from Johannes Auvinen drop in the space of a week! Last week saw Tin Man add yet another sublime Acid Test release to his discography and this week sees Auvinen add a second edition of the Underdog series for the fine Pomelo label. Lead track "Swarm" has that pounding groove reminiscent of so much modern techno but where some might go for the steely eyed approach, Tin Man laces the edges with a subtle funk as the track grinds relentlessly forth over ten minutes. Face down "Hack" has to be Auvinen's homage to the Soundhack work of Frank Timms whilst "Rocky" is Tin Man doing stripped back, reductive techno dominated by the central droning bassline.

Review: After delivering Absurd Recordings with its first Acid Test in 2011, Tin Man lines up some more acid for Pomelo, a label currently in a fine run of releases - did you check that Bad Cop Bad Cop LP?!?!??! For DJs in search of drum track acid techno (that Fanon Flowers would be proud of), "UR", is a good start. Taking a break from acid, but remaining on the drum trax tip, "Stay Down", is a brooding and synthy production that keeps itself from straying to close to the red - a perfect DJ tool for more reasons than just functionality.
