Hip Hop/R&B
Allegria De Vino (3:35)
Bordeaux (part 1) (3:34)
Gamay All Day (4:39)
Review: Andres (aka DJ Dez) steps up to join the MotorCity Wine family in fine style with the Allegria de Vino series. For this 2 volume series Andres flexes his blunted downtempo beat-driven side, complete with his primo cut skills celebrating our favorite red, white, and pink libations. Both volumes feature 3 instrumental hip-hop beats, cut loud at 33.3 rpm, pressed with love at Archer on Detroit's east side, and housed in the MotorCity Wine company 7" jacket.

Sunday Kinda Love
Cat: MCWR 012. Rel: 26 May 22

Deep House
Don't Make Me Wait (5:21)
Sinners (4:50)
Rubin Samba (4:26)
Sunday Kinda Love (6:55)
Review: Detroit mainstay Andres returns to MotorCity Wine Recordings with an anthemic 4 tracker entitled Sunday Kinda Love. For those that know, MotorCity Wine is the spot for Sunday parties, so we only thought it appropriate to have one of Detroit's most seminal producers highlight the vibe with this EP. On the A side is Andres's dusty house sound that we've all come to love, complete with bouncing basslines, slick vocal chops, and drums to turn out any dance floor. On the flip side Andres slows the tempo just a touch to highlight his chunky midtempo beatdown sounds, with "Rubin Samba" bringing a Latin flair and "Sunday Kinda Love" driving it all home. Essential Detroit music manufactured in Detroit and housed in a gorgeous vinyl package, TIP!

As The Sun (feat John Arnold & James Simonson) (5:06)
Entardecer (feat John Arnold) (5:18)
Review: John Beltran is welcomed into the MotorCity Wine Recordings family with his sun-drenched and soulful debut entitled "Back To Bahia". Titled after his MCW residency of the same name, the release combines Deep House, Jazz, Boogie, and, of course, musica popular Brasileira flavors to welcome the sunshine into your life. Housed in the MotorCity Wine 7" company jacket.

Ondas (Kiko Navarro remix) (8:11)
Ondas (5:09)
Ondas (Sol Set Collective rework) (5:01)
Review: Let the sunshine in- John Beltran is back to Brasil for Back To Bahia Vol. 2. Similar to his last foray on MotorCity Wine Recordings Beltran has assembled an all-star cast of characters including John Arnold, Jeremy Ellis, James Simonson, and Kiko Navarro to deliver a slice of bright jazzy deep house heaven. Kiko Navarro's "Motor City Jazz Remix" starts the release with driving live drums and percussion for discerning dance floors. On the flip John's original mix keeps the energy moving, before going to the brilliant Sol Set Collective Rework which blends live energy with driving production for those special dance floor moments. Pressed loud to high quality 12" vinyl in Detroit.

Back To Bahia Vol 3
Back To Bahia Vol 3 (limited 7")
Cat: MCWR 014. Rel: 10 Aug 23

Deep House
Lsaura (5:54)
As The Sunsets (6:28)
Review: Detroit's John Beltran can do no wrong if you ask us, and what he does do is always famously varied, from sound design for TV to melodic techno excellence via ambient beauty. Here for MotorCity Wine he revisits his Back To Bahia series with a third volume that finds him flexing his Afro-Brazilian deep house chops. The 7" opens up with the jazzy boogie of Lsaura' which is steeped in Minneapolis funk and will get cultured dancefloors in a spin. 'As The Sunsets' that appears on the flip and is a superbly emotive sound with wispy late night melodies and glowing harmonies and shuffling Latin grooves. Essential.

Back To Bahia Vol 4
Cat: MCWR 018. Rel: 20 May 24

Broken Beat/Nu Jazz/Nu Soul
Laguna
Just Beyond The Sun
Review: Celebrated composer, producer, techno talent and ambient craftsman John Beltran is a real Detroit don and now he is back on one of the city's own labels, Motor City Wine, with Volume 4 of Back To Bahia on 7". This one finds him going even deeper than before, starting with 'Laguna', which will soon uplift you with its Afro-Brazilian drums and live bass from James Simonson next to lush keys. 'Just Beyond The Sun' then gets fully Balearic with its mix of sultry trumpet, shuffling and Latin-tinged rhythms and wispy cosmic chords. A real delight.

Deep Tannin
Cat: MCWR 013. Rel: 05 May 23

Deep House
Deep Tannin (feat Rafael Leafar) (5:49)
Refugee (4:00)
Little Dancer (4:49)
2 Bottles (3:33)
Review: The classy sounds of Detroit label MotorCity Wine will get any house head hot under the collar. For their latest serving, they turn to DCTL about which we know next to nothing but are already big fans off the back of this one. The smoky deep beats of 'Deep Tannin' (feat Rafael Leafar) kick off with a classic vocal sample drifting up top to add the soul. 'Refugee' is a slow and purposeful beatdown cut with lovely dusty drums and sustained chords while 'Little Dancer' layers up jazzy off-grid chords with disheveled beats to loose-limbed effect. '2 Bottles' is a loungey trip-hop closer with vibes to spare.

Brandon Williams - "Twenty-One" (feat Jon Dixon & De'Sean Jones) (5:17)
Loftsoul X Soul-T - "Sol Origin" (feat Andy Compton) (7:02)
Review: Detroit's MotorCity Wine has established itself as the go0to space for all of the soulful, broken beat, and deep sounds on the house music spectrum. For their 4th 12" they tap in a cast of locals and friends from across the globe for this 4 track EP. Mark de Clive0Lowe kicks things off with "Wondering Who", a bassline0driven broken0beat inspired electronic funk workout, before Motomitsu goes Marianas Trench deep with "La Musique". On the flip Brandon Williams, Jon Dixon, & De'Sean Jones deliver "Twenty0One", a sublime piece of hi0tech jazz for the soulful heads. Loftsoul & Soul0T round out the EP with "Sol Origin", a sub0heavy Shelter0esque track featuring Andy Compton on electric guitar.

Dance With Me (Andy Compton Bristol mix) (8:22)
Dance With Me (Andy Compton dub) (6:18)
Review: When David Armin-Parcells (aka Lafleur) first opened MotorCity Wine back in 2009, it quickly established itself as a premier underground spot for both house and disco deejays as well as the city's prolific jazz artists. Fast forward 8 years and the venue is thriving as one of Detroit's go-to venues, boasting an excessively high quality line up of both house and jazz residents, from Monty Luke and Rick Wilhite, to OG funk brother Dennis Coffey and Ian Finkelstein, to Shigeto and Underground Resistance, to the Hughes/Smith Quintet and B. Williams, to Norm Talley & Carl Craig. After a 3 year residency at MotorCity Wine, Lafleur tapped in Peter Croce of Rocksteady Disco to make the venue's mark outside of the city with a label, highlighting the half house half jazz sound that makes the venue great.

Review: So step into the hazy musical minds of Glenn Echo and Daniel Meinecke on Partly Cloudy, their debut full-length on MotorCity Wine Recordings. Mr. Echo, repping the Sol Power family out of Washington, DC, reached back to his 90s downtempo, acid jazz, and golden era beat-making roots to create 11 psychedelic, breakbeat-and-space-echo-infused tracks that serve as the perfect dreamy backdrop for Mr. Meinecke's commanding and virtuosic New Orleans gospel funk.

This World (3:18)
Review: Glenn Echo and Daniel Meineck are back on Detroit label MotorCity Wine with their first new music in two years following their well-received Partly Cloudy album. What Happened to Yesterday? is, we are told, the first of two albums from the pair that will arrive several months apart. It finds the pair get super hazy and dubby, with psychedelic charm swirling around their absorbing grooves next to subtle cues taken from the diverse likes of DJ Premier and King Jammy. There is a superb Moog-based cover of De La Soul's 'I Am I Be', Afro-Carribean disco in 'Dancehall of Grandeur' and epic jazz-rock on Volcano Sound' so dig in and prepare to be wowed.

For The People (6:10)
Eddie C & Murge - "Pacific Jam" (7:16)
Ama Zone (6:06)
Dubbing Into Darkness (6:54)
Review: Eddie C is the maestro of go-slow sounds and now he hooks up with Motor City Wine, with whom he has apparently had a long friendship. The prolific producer comes correct again with a joyful EP full of outdoor dancing highlights. 'For The People' is feel good, jazz tinged deep house for happy faces, then Eddie links with the West Coast's Murge for 'Pacific Jam', a deeper, more late night roller with melancholic chords. There is a steamy sense of tropicalia to 'Ama Zone' that locks you in deep, and playful, teasing loops on 'Dubbing Into Darkness' that will have crowds in raptures.

Soul Takes Flight (feat Oliver Night) (5:44)
If I Let You (feat Cinta) (3:26)
Burning Up (feat Oliver Night - extended edit) (4:34)
Review: MotorCity Wine out of Detroit looks to the other side of the planet for its next release as Sydney, Australia-based artist Edseven steps up with his Burnin Up EP. It's that title track featuring Oliver Night that opens up with a smooth and seductive sound, leggy drums and warming chords. 'Soul Takes Flight' is another cuddly, deep and late-night lounge sound full of emotive vibes and another amazing vocal from Oliver Night. Things get even more chill on the flip with the mid-tempo sounds of 'If I Let You' featuring vocals from Cinta, all pressed up in a limited picture sleeve 12".

Disco/Nu-Disco
Ancestarians (Physical mix) (7:18)
Ancestarians (Spiritual mix) (4:53)
Champagne Kiddie Pool (6:26)
Sandbox Fossils (6:47)
Review: Blair French is the next quality artist to make their debut on the increasingly vital MotorCity Wine imprint out of Detroit. He brings hints of Balearic as well as signature smoky deep house from the 313 to his work here. 'Ancestarians' (Physical Mix) also has pan-African influences, jazzy melodies and rich organic percussion while the Spiritual Mix is all about going deep into ambient bliss. 'Champagne Kiddie Pool' then looks even deeper into the musical niches of South America with dembow rhythms overlaid with lively claps and cosmic chords. Last of all is 'Sandbox Fossils with driving bass from James Simonson and guitar from Ryan Gimpert.

Abstract Love
Cat: MCWR 008. Rel: 15 Feb 21

Deep House
Abstract Love (5:23)
Star Talk (5:14)
Review: Here's something you don't see all that often: high-grade Motor City deep house pressed to a seven-inch single. It comes courtesy of Brian Garrett AKA Javonntte, a veteran Detroit producer who rarely fails to deliver. He's certainly on form on this release, smartly adding sci-fi synth sounds, manipulated vocal snippets and elongated chords to crunchy drums and jazzy bass on A-side 'Abstract Love'. Equally as impressive is flipside 'Star Talk', a deeper, warmer, smoother and more soulful number rich in immersive synthesizer chords, eyes-closed vocal phrases, distant piano riff and mid-90s, US garage style Korg M1 lead lines. It's deluxe retro-futurism for those who like their deep house toasty and comforting. We're down with that.
