Soul Sides EP
Cat: LD0 41. Rel: 25 Apr 18

Disco/Nu-Disco
Will Buck - "Soul Sides" (6:22)
Will Buck & Prtmnto - "Ilif 1982" (7:04)
Will Buck & Prtmnto - "Do It To Me" (6:13)
Will Buck & Prtmnto - "Do It To Me" (Parallax remix) (7:31)
Review: Ever since Will Buckley and PRTMNTO debuted on last year's Lovetrax EP on Whiskey Disco Small Batch, we've been eagerly anticipating the duo's first collaborative EP. Title track "Soul Sides" - one of three cuts mixed by label boss Pontchartrain - is a breezy and positive affair, with sultry disco strings and attractive, delay-laden riffs slowly rising above a loopy, deep disco-house groove. "Liif 1982" is a more obviously energetic affair blessed with rubbery slap bass and some seriously seductive synthesizers, while "Do It To Me" is a jazzier and jaunty affair that subtly doffs a cap to both sleazy disco and jazz-funk. Parallax brilliantly strips back the latter track, adding sweet jazz guitars on a superbly summery and laidback interpretation.

The Night Forest

Deep House
The Night Forest (5:59)
Gmork (5:43)
Falkor (6:20)
Review: Carlo's latest foray is on Whiskey Disco sublabel Lovedancing, and it is one of his best. The entire EP is loosely influenced by The Neverending Story, heard in the use of its samples, inspired sounds, artwork and themes. First up on side A we have the sultry funky house groove of 'The Night Forest', then turn over for the low slung late night deepness of 'Gmork' which is packed full of swing. Closing it out is the sensual 'Falkor' reminiscent of classic early noughties deep house in the vein of Naked Music.

What Else (5:29)
Cindy Goes To A Party (5:43)
Dizzy Spell (Pontch Man Trance mix) (7:23)
Set It Out (The Silver Rider remix) (5:55)
Review: Closed Paradise has already amassed a quietly impressive discography, notching up releases on labels including Fina, Better Listen, Kolour LTD and Whiskey Disco. With the Something Else EP, the French producer pops up on Sleazy Mcqueen's Lovedancing label for the very first time. Turn your attention to the hazy-but-sparkling, filter-sporting deep house/disco-house fusion of harp-strumming opener "What Else", before bathing in the lusciously warm and languid deep house waters of "Cindy Goes To The Party" (whose spoken word samples are alternately creepy and inspired). We also recommend the Silver Rider swirling, bass-heavy tweak of "Set It Out" - its a heady late night delight - and have plenty of time for the acid-flecked deep house stomp of Ponchartrain's "Trance" remix of "Dizzy Spell".

Falling In Love EP

Disco/Nu-Disco
Falling In Love (4:58)
Falling In Love (Tom Noble remix) (6:06)
Prism (4:41)
Prism (Sleazy McQueen remix) (7:28)
Review: Stockholm twosome Dagfest have already notched up digital releases on ISM Records, Editorial and Bearded Man, though this outing on Lovedancing marks their first appearance on wax. It's a double header of sorts, with a different original track and remix on each side. "Falling In Love" sits on side A, with the original's breezy boogie/reggae/soul fusion flex being given a harder boogie/proto-house makeover by the reliable Tom Noble. Over on the flip, "Prism" is a deliciously positive chunk of boogie/nu-disco fusion blessed with near Balearic synth solos and some wonderful jazz-funk flourishes. Sleazy McQueen takes a different approach on his remix, turning the track into a peak-time friendly disco-house bumper.

The Glory EP

Deep House
The Glory (7:32)
Nebiancater (5:14)
Mara (4:48)
The Juno Experience (5:46)
Review: Sleazy McQueen's Lovedancing is back with Colombia's Felipe Gordon who has appeared previously on top labels such as Quintessentials, Toy Tonics and S3A. Seriously lo-slung disco deviance awaits you on The Glory EP: from the looped-up and dusted down title track and the smooth, Rhodes-led deepness of "Nebiancater". On the flip, get into the groove in slo-mo style on the irresistible "Mara" until he saves the best for last on "The Juno Experience" - mind you, we could be biased. No, seriously: this neon-lit, boogie-down jam for the late night sounds like a familiar classic (as we're sure you'll agree) and is bound to get bums wiggling on the dancefloor guaranteed.

The Lone Dancer EP

Disco/Nu-Disco
Body Language Pro (6:15)
Body Language Pro (Sleazy McQueen & Cole Medina remix) (6:37)
Let Me Come Into Your Life (6:49)
The Lone Dancer (6:45)
Review: You could be forgiven for expecting this EP on excellent upfront house imprint Lovedancing to be more of a curveball. After all, The Juan MacLean isn't known for mainstream posturing. It certainly comes with stacks of character and a clear intention to be heard. Bold, commanding and aimed squarely at feet, if mind-meltingly looped pumpers are your thing consider this an early Christmas. All four tracks are built from repetitive hooks, the most inescapable- 'Let Me Come Into Your Life'- will satisfy fans of Mr G's softer side, while 'The Lone Dancer' is destined for sun-drenched terrace bar systems. 'Body Language Pro', meanwhile, has more than a few nods to the French house heydays, with Sleazy McQueen and Cole Medina developing those elements into a beast that's slower to build in but guaranteed to work up a sweat.

Cirrus (Delano Smith Motor City Re-Rub) (6:48)
Cirrus (remastered) (6:30)
Review: Before relocating to New York City last year, Pontchartrain invited the legendary Javonntte over to record some material at his east-side Detroit studio. The result was the deep, down and dirty late night groove of 'Keep Dancing' (Detroit mix) while the NYC mix is a more pumping, heads-down affair on an old school electronic disco vibe with a nice dose of 303 acid for good measure. Over on the flip, 'Cirrus' is a deeper, cloudy and synth-heavy house track, which is backed by Delano Smith's dubby and hypnotic Motor City Re-Rub.

Yawumna (feat Soma Iddrissu) (7:03)
Yawumna (Art Of Tones remix) (7:22)
Ifa (feat Azizaa) (6:35)
Ifa (Jacques Renault dub) (5:52)
Review: Since 2015, Tel Aviv twosome Rabo & Snob has been delivering annual releases on re-edit stable Whiskey Disco. Here they make the transfer to one of Sleazy McQueen's other imprints, Lovedancing, with some tasty original productions. "Yawumna", featuring Somma Idrisu, effortlessly underpins jangly acoustic guitars and African vocals with a metronomic nu-disco groove, while "Afia", featuring vocalist Azizaa, sounds like an unlikely fusion of Afrobeat and Adonis's "No Way Back". Art of Tones provides an organ-laden, sunshine-soaked Afro-house revision of "Yawumna", while Jacques Renault provides a suitably chunky dub of "Ifa" for those late night moments.

All I Do (6:45)
Mystic Notions (5:59)
Dengue Baby (5:13)
Love Will Guide Our Hearts (6:21)
Review: For the latest hot-to-trot missive on his fast-rising Lovedancing imprint, main man Sleazy McQueen has turned to native New Yorker Silver Rider, a producer who has been a part of the nu-disco scene for longer than any of us can remember. He begins with the rolling disco-house sweetness of "All I Do", where glassy-eyed female vocals and twinkling melody lines rise above a bustling beat. "Mystic Notions" sees him successfully smother a broken house beat in tasty electric piano solos and swirling chords, while "Dengue Baby" is a tidy, slightly beefed-up revision of a flute-sporting Afro-funk gem. Finally, "Love Will Guide Our Hearts" provides a suitably shuffling and glassy-eyed end to a fine set of floor-friendly reworks.

Remixes EP
Cat: LD 13. Rel: 19 Feb 20

Disco/Nu-Disco
Pambele (Sleazy McQueen remix) (6:55)
Angayusa (JKriv Discumbia mix) (5:21)
Angayusa (Sleazy McQueen & Brian San Diego remix) (5:53)
Review: Last year Vagabundo Club Social pitched up on Lovedancing with an EP of humid and colourful club tracks that tended towards the tropical. Here, arguably the EP's strongest tracks are given the remix treatment. Label boss Sleazy McQueen features prominently. First he offers up a rolling, acid-fired take on "Pambele" full of squelchy bass, organ stabs and bustling beats, before joining forces with Brian San Diego to re-cast "Angayusa" as a trumpet-sporting slab of loopy deep house dopeness. Arguably even better though is Escort man JKriv's hybrid analogue house/cumbia revision of the same track, which bristles with weighty bass, tropical motifs and sweat-soaked Colombian drums.

Pambele EP

Disco/Nu-Disco
Pambele (6:21)
Esclavo 29 (6:18)
Angayusa (5:57)
Review: Whiskey Disco sublabel Lovedancing now presents Amigos Vagabundo Club Social, who have truly found their voice with this terrific EP. Comprised of Jaime Tuiran and Juan Pablo Pinedo, they combine the best electronic grooves and Carribean flavour on the Pambele EP - three tracks that commemorate their musical heritage and upbringing in Barranquilla, on the north coast of Colombia. The groovy and sun kissed title track with its creamy Rhodes notes is a perfect homage to a certain Colombian boxing legend, while the lo-slung and funky swagger of "Esclavo 29" is a go-to track to work the dancefloor on a long, hot summer night. Finally on the flip is a sultry deep house groove in the form of "Angayusa" with some super sexy sax action.

Jacques Renault Remixes EP

Vagabundo Club Social & Sleazy McQueen - "Chips Y Salsoul" (Jacques Renault remix) (7:42)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Pambele" (Jacques Renault remix) (6:39)
Pontchartrain - "1515 Broadway Revisited" (feat Larry Love - Jacques Renault BK club remix) (6:42)
Pontchartrain - "1515 Broadway Revisited" (feat Larry Love - Jacques Renault Brooklyn BK live remix) (6:40)
Review: As the title makes clear, this tasty 12" from Lovedancing sees Brooklyn producer Jacques Renault deliver fresh interpretations of killer cuts from the label's vaults. Renault first offers up a deliciously sweaty, loose-limbed take on Vagabundo Club Social and Sleazy McQueen's "Chips Y Salsoul", placing the original's familiar electric piano motif and muted trumpet samples atop a densely layered Latin house groove, before joining the dots between dub disco and proto house on a rework of Vagabundo Club Social's "Pambele". Over on side B he delivers two takes on Pontchartrain's "1515 Broadway Revisited": a lolloping disco-house "BK Club Remix" and a "BK Live Remix" that sounds like it was done in one take, dub style, in the same manner as proto-house legend Paul Simpson's influential 1980s mixes.
