Review: Funeral Future is a Danish techno twosome that first tickled our fancy via a couple of low-key releases on Count O a couple of years back. Here they return to action, this time via Copenhagen-based Euromatic. Title track "Hard Candy" is a surprisingly colourful affair, with vibrant, trance style riffs combining with a thrusting, forthright techno groove to devastating effect. "Positive", which combines bouncy techno beats with the kind of icy synthesizer melodies and foreboding chords that were once a hallmark of '80s new wave records, is arguably even better, while "Close to Communion" is a similarly stylish, hard-to-pigeonhole stomper. To round things off, they doff a cap to Nitzer Ebb style EBM - albeit with trance inducing, techno kickdrums - on the druggy and clandestine "Draped in Flags".
