Review: Panda Bear aka Noah Lennox has been one of the more prolific solo artists to come out of the Animal Collective fold. Buoys presents a second album on UK independent Domino and his sixth solo album overall offers something of a new direction. Made in co-production with Rusty Santos (from The Present) the pair have delivered a work routed in hip hop and beat-making inspirations taking Panda Bear's music into a dubby and bass music realm. At times reminiscent of Ed Banger & Mr. Oizo quirkiness, alongside a trademark guitar sound and vocals drenched in reverb, the dub culture influence mixed in with the folk, and pop abnormalities, prove there's a deep layer of experimentation to Panda Bear's music yet.

Review: Person Pitch is the third solo album from Animal Collective member Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), originally released in 2007. With a much greater emphasis on electronic instruments and effects, the album is a departure from Animal Collective or Panda Bear's usual sounds, reappropriating styles such as cabaret and Americana through reams of reverb. The result on tracks like 'I'm Not' and 'Good Girl' is a style that has rarely been reinvented, daring to eschew comprehensibility or dryness for a psychedelic sound plunged in echo, and dealing in themes of fatherhood, travel sickness, and marriage.

Review: There's been much animated discussion online about the meaning of Animal Collective member Noah Lennox's latest solo album under the Panda Bear alias. Whether or not Lennox really is musing on death (as he did on 2004 album Young Prayer, which was recorded in the months following the passing of his father) is almost irrelevant; you see, Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper is a delightfully eccentric listen, full of humid, psychedelic pop songs drenched in '60s style reverb. As a result, it sounds like Pet Sounds or Smile era Beach Boys (Lennox even sounds like Brian Wilson) reinvented for the 21st century, with synths and electronics replacing harmonium and evocative orchestration. As a result, Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper is a sunny sonic delight.

Review: Noah Lennox, in his Panda Bear guise, has always walked a tightrope of sorts, with his third-eye cleansing psyched-out talents - as shown on 2007's landmark opus Person Pitch - occasionally waylaid by the odd drift into self-indulgence. Yet when he's firing on all cylinders, there are no more formidable exponents of sampleadelic boundary-destroying bliss, and Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper finds him on formidable form-these laments and sweet pop nuggets may be constructed from disparate sources and swamped in dub-style echo and reverb to achieve a woozy soft-focus effect, yet their radiance and fresh invention remains manifest. In spite of its title, this is as life-affirming as Lennox has ever sounded.

Review: Psychedelectronica done best. Animal Collective mega-mammal Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) teams up with E.A.R.'s lead brain and former Spaceman 3 lynchpin Sonic Boom (Pete Kember) for this weirdo's favourite collaborative album, melding influences from nostalgic Americana, warbly tape culture calamity, and even bolero into its tapestry. It truly 'Resets' the mind from preconceived notions we might have; 'Danger', for example, is a decidedly calm and tropical tune for proclaiming so loudly, 'I'm in danger'. Replete with good tunes, 'Reset' is an eccentric's goldmine.

Review: Panda Bear aka. Noah Lennox is best known for his formative membership of experimental pop surrealist troupe, Animal Collective. But the Panda Bear alias itself is nowadays of almost equal stature, similarly blending psychedelia, folk, electronic and ambient influences for further, less-restrained takes on the sound. Here on 'Reset In Dub', Lennox reunites with Peter Kember - a former member of the influential space rock band Spacemen 3 - and legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood. In dubwise style, Sherwood comes through to remix all nine tracks on Lennox and Kember's prior collaborative LP Reset, amounting to a multi-layered, adventurous retake.
