Review: Spartaque and Alan Wools first joined forces back in 2013, jointly releasing smasher Rock The Beat on Respekt Recordings. Elements contains their first collaborative material since, as well as two typically no-nonsense peak-time solo workouts by Wool. While those solo B-side tracks are impressive, it's the joint efforts on the A that are really floating our boat. The title track, in particular, is a bona fide banger: a relentless slab of bass-heavy, concrete-club club techno smothered in metallic noises, razor-sharp riffs and sweaty drum machine handclaps. They shift focus slightly on "Icy Road", peppering a powerful, kick-drum driven rhythm track with wayward acid lines, foreboding vocal samples and intergalactic electronics.
