Review: Doctor Bionic (which is actually a studio band of session musicians) serve up another tonic for the soul here with Spiritual Conquest, a new album pressed on clear vinyl by Chiefdom. It features a brilliant mix of gritty instrumental cuts and raw analogue beats with Cincinnati-based DJ Grimez at the centre next to an array of local talents. The personnel changes on every record = "it depends on the sound I'm going for" he says - and here we have everything from golden era hip-hop to floating piano lines, head nodding grooves to more ethereal soundscapes.

Review: Doctor Bionic is back on the airwaves. The newest album from Cincinnati-based executive producer Jason Grimez is an instrumental collection of classic soul, jazz, and hip-hop sounds. The first instalment of a three-part series, Terrestrial Radio offers 37 minutes of carefully curated jams, primarily catered to his trusty instrumental steed, the MPC 3000, together with his tried-but-true practice of sampling. With a rotating cast of talents including eatures a rotating cast of session talents including Brian Batchelor-Glader and Marvin Hawkins, Terrestrial Radio brings us right back down to earth with its space-age hip-hop retrofuturisms.
