Review: These have been troubled times for the Brooklyn four-piece Diiv, who've not only lost their drummer to drug addiction but have seen vocalist Zachary Cole Smith battling both rehab and police attention in the run-up to this album. Lucky for everyone, however, they've channelled the tribulations into a bittersweet and rich selection of shoegaze-tinged indie-rock ditties that display both an understated sleight-of-hand and a cinematic sweep. Redolent of giants like The Cure and Smashing Pumpkins yet possessed of their own radiant charm, Diiv remain as irresistible as their name is unpronounceable.

Review: Already causing a stir across the country with a string of EPs under their belt, Leeds post-punk outfit Drahla have finally got a debut, full-length album of their discordant, angular take on the genre in the form of "Useless Coordinates". Rugged, tense, yet driving and confrontational with occasional jazz influences - album highlight "React/Revolt" which sees the band almost go into jazz territory with a striking sax lead by Chris Duffin taking the helm for a slower, yet no less confrontational affair. Luciel Brown's punchy, insistent vocal delivery carries plenty of conviction, and together with her stabby, discordant guitar riffs, Rob Riggs' elastic bass work and Mike Ainsley's military drum work, "Useless Coordinates" is a cohesive and strong body of work that should see Drahla gain even more traction.

Review: Dream pop hasn't gone to sleep and Virginian group Wild Nothing, spearheaded by John Alexander Tatum, delivers its fourth album since 2010. For the uninitiated; think The Vampire Weekend meets Cut Copy meets bites of 90s nostalgia, balearic and new age. It's a whimsical journey from start to finish with the chorus of "Flawed Translation" crestfully singing 'let's stay together baby, let's stay together" while album opener "Letting Go" chirps 'I wanna be happy, I wanna be happy'. Pop melancholia with heart, enjoy!
