Review: If you're reading this we've got to hand it to you; you really know your stuff! The Cab Drivers are Berlin's undisputed masters of quality techno and house that all the heads can count as some of their secret weapons in their records bag. The man himself Richie Hawtin even compiled a body of their work on his Plus 8 imprint in 2006, Cabinet Classics, which is testament to their illustrious discography. This release is another worthy addition to their catalogue. "Taxi Funk" is all that its infectious swirling synth stabs and syncopated rhythms. "Bon Bon" is more uplifting with its shimmering keys and mesmerising melody pushing you into a truly higher state!

  8. Vicmari - "Who Could Measure" (feat Chann Of Amraah8 - Cab Drivers remix) (6:13)
Review: Berlin's infamous Cabinet Records is arguably responsible for the rise of tech-house over the last two decades, and the Cab Drivers have been the label's shining light throughout the years. Daniel Paul and Jens Augustowsky have defined a genre and a sound, taking inspiration from US legends like Mood II Swing and Pal Joey, and evolving the classic deep house sound into something more functional and electronic. This new compilation is an extended collection of their own remixes of other contemporary favourites, and if you're someone whose looking to buy original 12s from the duo but can't afford the Discogs price tags, then this will be an uncompromising compromise. In short, you get the legendary duo doing their thing over tunes by the likes of Paul Kalkbrenner, Nail, Mancini and Diego Krause, often making the originals a thousand times better.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Gruenzeug (5:52)
  2. Siebeneck (4:54)
  3. Melonshake (5:58)
Review: Berlin's Hans Schaaf is no newcomer to the block. Far from it. The German producer has been banging out beats since about 1993, under the iconic DJ Honesty moniker, an alias which has constantly filled us with intrigue and excitement due to its underlying diversity. In other words, this guy can do it all when it comes to house and tech, so it's a pleasure to have him back on our charts with an EP on the always excellent Cabinet Records! "Gruenzeug" is a master blaster of a churner, slick and heavy on the beats, of course. "Siebeneck", on the B-side, is a moodier and altogether more dubwise groover, powered by a heavy sub bass, and "Melonshake" builds on that with a rolling bassline that has much in common with electro and the deeper side of techno. Tip!

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Noah Skelton - "Vibrations" (7:01)
  2. Daniel Paul - "First Touch" (6:40)
  3. Phazer - "Racoon" (7:12)
  4. Youandewan - "Pinger" (Goodies edit) (6:31)
Review: We'd heartily recommend this pleasingly varied, all-star affair from long-serving electronic imprint Cabinet. All four tracks are primed and ready for peak-time plays, with the wonderfully hypnotic, deep, dubby and bass-heavy bounce of Youandewan's "Pinger (Goodies Edit)" standing side by side with Noah Skelton's even deeper and groovier EP opener, "Vibrations", at the top of the pile. That said, many will gravitate towards the loved-up, piano-rich rush of Phazer's dream house-inspired "Racoon", while Berlin veteran Daniel Paul's "First Touch" is a wonderfully warm and melodious chunk of spacey deep house.
