Review: It's smooth and silky grooves all the way with French label Berg Audio. Now up to a fifth transmission, it is Badeo who comes thorough with three original tunes. The is his debut release, and an impressive one at that. 'Facade' is just well pitched, spaced out tech house with smeared pads and rubbery drums. 'Controller' gets a little more minimal and textured, with layers of hits, synth and underlapping bass pulling you in deep. Icelandic dub legend Thor remixes 'Facade' into a 5am, dubbed out techno roller and 'Visionay' is similarly warm and atmospheric.

Review: Berliner Nick Beringer first appeared on our radar back in 2015 with the tremendous Passage EP on local imprint Kase Kool. Since then he's kept the quality momentum in effect, with his distinct brand of deep and dub-laden tech house appearing on top labels like Taverna Tracks, Organic Musik and his own Rubisco imprint. He's found a fitting home here, on the always impressive Berg Audio, and has him following up great efforts by Traumer, Moreon & Baffa and Dust Yard. The cavernous and glacial groove of "Here & There" is balanced out by the warmth of its driving low end plus entrancing chords and lush textures. Some remix action comes courtesy of Pavel Iudin (Quality Vibe/Poker Flat) whose percussive rework takes it deeper into the night and the ever reliable Julian Perez (Fathers & Sons Productions) shows us all how it's done once again on his introspective groove reduction.

Review: Since he made his debut five years ago, Johannes Kolter AKA Djoko has happily flitted between labels, in the process offering up a string of rock-solid releases. "Endless Explorations", his first vinyl outing of 2020, sees Kolter add another label to his discography, French dub techno imprint Berg Audio. Kolter sets the tone perfectly on opener "Ikarus", where fluttering, pleasingly spacey dub techno riffs and sustained chords ride a crunchy tech-house groove, before joining forces with T JACQUES on the acid-sporting, late '90s style tech-house-funk of "Instincts". The funk-fuelled, acid-sporting fun continues on bold, melodious, intergalactic and hugely enjoyable flipside opener "In Flavour" - check the jazzy keys and garage-influenced swing - while deep space closing cut "Asteroids" is smoother than a baby's backside and every bit as potent.

Review: Perhaps one of the most prolific producers on the tech house scene at present, Cologne-based Johannes Kolter is back with a new one on Berg Audio - where he's become quite the staple it seems. The Endless Explorations EP features some properly ice cold slabs of dub house as you'd expect from the French label, such as the rolling, funky and swing-fuelled action of 'Light Way', followed by the blissed-out and hypnotic 'Rominimal' vibe of 'Constant Time' (a collaboration featuring Dutch up and comer Chris Stussy) in addition to the deep and sensual mood music of B side cut 'Always Wondered' that's perfect for the warm-up or afterhours alike.

Review: Berg Audio according to its online profile is "a dub techno oriented label finding its inspiration in the lost monuments of the soviet era". This various artists EP inaugurates the fresh imprint and what a great start. Man of the moment iO (Mulen) kicks things off on side A with "The Kingdom Of Darkness" which follows on with his breaks driven style and immaculate production standards as always; definitely much more dub techno than minimal house this time around. KW aka the man from Uranus Kris Wadsworth serves up the liquid groove of "Aquarius" complete with some serious 808 bounce. On the flip the man from Guestrow, Andre Kronert (who presents the label's next release) gives us the Fachwerk style dub techno of "The Architect" while Swiss producer The Idealist serves up the sexy and slinky deep house of "Starflow" which reminds us of late noughties grooves by Quarion or Slowhouse.

Review: Pavel Ludin makes a bold impression with his debut solo EP on French label Berg Audio here. His sound is balmy and dreamy on opener 'Midnight' withers humid pads swirling round low slung drums. 'Junction' then marries watery synth loops with tropical atmospheres and a driving bassline that will hook in anyone. 'Route' flips the vibe again with a more heads in the clouds feel, twinkling pads and upbeat kicks that make you feel good. 'Ghost' is a twitching tech cut with analogue kicks and claps that ooze class.

Review: Mickael Jeanneret is Janeret, a deep house producer from Paris who now finds himself with a release on promising new Russian label Berg Audio who have previously served up the likes of iO (Mulen) and Andre Kronert. For the Kord EP, the title track is a densely layered yet sublime and rolling journey through the dub techno sound and executed tastefully. Its remix by Berlin tech house hero Diego Krause respectfully retains the dubbiness yet injects it with more groove and swagger. On the flip, "Air" ventures down a much deeper route with emotive pads and hypnotic dub chords working to great effect. The Dilated Pupils affiliated Ben Buitendijk delivers a brilliant rework, covering the track in the right amount of dust and rust like he only can.

Review: Berg Audio's enigmatic message of releasing pieces of sonic arrangements from the Soviet area fits perfectly with this new collaboration from Diego Krause and Idealist. This is the first time that these two artists appear on the same record, but it certainly won't be their last judging by the calibre of this material; the combination of their loose techno sound is both refreshing and representative of a genre that is going through some soul-searching as of late. Krause steps up with two wonky, rough-house techno-not-techno steppers, the bleepy "Liberation", which is followed by an even bumpier remix from Cab Drivers. On the flip, Idealist's "Time Lapse" is a smoother, more suave house cut boasting a rugged tech feel, leaving Sven's Perpetual Night mix to stray further out into more dub-fuelled territories. Ace.

Review: For their latest trip into deep and hazy techno territory, France's Berg Audio has enlisted the services of two up-and-coming producers, recent As One LDN artist Viktor Udvari and Dublin-based Laughing Man. "Shades" is the pair's first co-production and is really rather good. Based around cyclical deep space riffs and a warm, undulating bassline, the track is propelled forwards not by their Motor City inspired melodiousness, but rather a notably weighted drum track. Gluped member Tuleric provides the obligatory flipside remix, wisely exploring the track's deeper side on a rolling dub techno take that's arguably superior to the (admittedly excellent) A-side.

Review: French label Berg Audio is a house and tech mainstay with a number of different catalogue numbers for various different series. It's hard to keep track of them but you'd don't really need to cause the music is always of a high standard. Jesse Maas is behind this one and gets off to a spaced out and bumping start with the 90s tinged tech of 'Take Control.' Things sink into deeper territory on the liquid 'A Side X' before flipping over for 'The MC Calls.' Tight, kinetic drums, neon pads and a hint of swing all get you locked and then DIY man and UK house don Nail remixes 'Take Control' into a perfectly dubbed out trip.

Review: Lola Palmer is known for her impeccable selections in the DJ booth and she shows here she is no slouch int he studio either. Her debut EP for the French label Berg Audio offers up a pair of super classy deep house slash techno tools that brim with warmth. 'Stay' rolls on with dubby chords and subtle pads, while 'Imagine That' has drums with a bit more bite but still heady synths circling round to keep you locked. A Janeret remix of 'Stay' is more edgy and unsettled with a rasping lead synth bringing tension and Priku & Dinu then zoning you out with a more cosmic version.

Review: From Russia with rushes; Paolo Rocco recruits newblood Lessi S for a jam that chugs and shrouds with a vague sense of late night/early morning naughtiness. Simple, warm, dubby and jacking, it's the ideal choice for an equally chop-slapping East End Dubs remix. Turkish Havantepe takes over the B with an uptempo, driving piece of progressive tech. Lolloping with soft bass fluctuations and cosmic synths, it's a perfect transition from the light to dark sides of the night. Roger Gerresson takes the remix to a much lighter side with a subtle, restrained deep twist. Serene.

Review: French dub techno engineers Berg Audio return with their fourth release in 2020, courtesy of one R.Y. with an A.C. We are not entirely sure who the former is, but the latter stands for Another Channel, a producer from Ausburg in Southern Germany. The acronyms collaborate on the cavernous and glacial groove of 'Move Dub' that is balanced out by its emotive male and female vocals. It comes with two terrific reworks: Mosaic man man Steve O'Sullivan is in fine form as usual, taking the track down a warmer path with a more sensual feel, followed by Roman Poncet aka Traumer's perspective which injects the track with a groovy minimalist stomp.
