Review: Alleviated's Larry Heard reissue series has previously brought us the rough and tough acid of Gherkin Jerks and, more recently, the intergalactic downtempo grooves of his largely overlooked Alien LP. Here, they revisit one of Heard's later aliases, Loosefingers, dusting down and reissuing tracks from 2003's Glancing at the Moon EP. All three tracks are deep, warm and melodious in typical Heard fashion, with the title track delivering a sultry blend of wide-eyed chords, darting electronics, Latin-influenced percussion and tactile keys. "Deep Inside" delivers a hazy, sun-kissed take on soulful house - all jazz bass, sensual chords and gentle vocals. Best of all, though, is the tougher, synth-heavy "Lamentation", which rolls along at a near techno-tempo and is blessed with thrilling bleep melodies.

This house wizard from Lyon, France has made the rounds on some of the most acclaimed labels during that time. In late 2022 he released his first album Closer Energy. Review: Frame Of Mind has been one of the best techno and house labels in the past couple years hailing from the Netherlands. This is the second appearance for Synaptic Voyager on the label in total. 'Epoch Ten' exhibits a premier example of the quality ambient techno the label has released in recent years. Fans of As One, FBA, Stasis and Sensurreal are sure to gravitate toward this track in particular. The 90s Detroit vibe is here in many respects. 'Ne Plus Ultra' and 'Reverie' are perfect tributes to the lineage there. The robot funk in 'Milestone' is particularly exciting with this early 90s styled foray into UK techno while 'Parallax' gives off a heavy Innovator and early Warp label impressions. Manhattan Project aka Mellow Man (Andreas Marek) is the label owner is here with his latest EP of new music. Work It offers four classy house tracks for the late-night dancefloor fanbase. Review: Munir Nadir has been breaking through in the past few years with essential releases on 4Plae, Nuts On Board and Outcast Planet. Now he's minting a new label called Odd One Tape out of Italy, and bringing his playful, synth-rich sound with him. There's a nod to Italo and 80s electro in the sampling and throbbing, analogue groove of 'Rhythmistic', while 'Bass Jam' tips more towards the early 00s electro house boom a la Tiefschwarz and Tomas Andersson. Review: Brazilian producer Zopelar is a real wizard when at work in the studio. He has done disco-tinged full lengths, synth-laced house sounds, deeper than deep grooves and now steps up to Sudd Wax with another brilliantly musical EP. It opens with the shimmering pads and free-flowing keys of 'Papaia' which then gets a Byron The Aquarius Jazz Twist mix that cuts even more free and gets even more cosmic. Review: A genuine meeting of minds here, as rising star (and Real Gang Records founder) Danny Miller joins forces with long-serving deep, dubby and techy house maestro Jay Tripwire. What's on offer is undeniably alluring: a three-track salvo built around deep, hypnotic, sub-heavy grooves and wonderfully wayward and wonky electronics. The trippy and mind-altering nature of the duo's combined sound is best exemplified by A-side 'Cut001', where lo-fi bleeps, echoing analogue electronics and ghostly chords wrap around crunchy machine drums and deep sub-bass. Review: The Dutch folks at Kalahari Oyster Cult sure like to serve up music that melts minds at 5 am, or they do if this new one from Olsvanger is anything to go by. It is a futuristic techno exploration with 'Grand Slamming' opening up with a mix of sleek linear drums, pulsing sonar synths and supersized hi-hats that bring the energy. 'Paranoweed' is a pure and unadulterated looper that undulates with a subtle funk and 'Bubble Toy' brings some deft sound designs and minimal synths to sci-fi effects and more sweet rolling beats. 'Quadi B' closes out and sounds like a tense and paranoid underwater search for malevolent aquatic life forms.

Review: NorthSouth records has made a strong impact since beginning to release music in 2017 and one fixture on the label who has been featured on almost half of the labels output is Henry Hyde. His knack for throwing genres to the wind and just making fun, upbeat music that works great on the dancefloor, has his talents in strong demand. Check out 'Melting' for a perfect example, or tracks like 'Mire', which remind us of the enjoyment injected into dance music of the late 90s, a time where addictive dance music was devoid of rules and boundaries. Review: French label Wagram is a go-to when it comes to quality compilations that take a broad look at certain sounds and scenes, and this one is an on-going series that focuses on house sounds with an Afro undertone. The grooves are lively and often come with plenty of percussion. The drums hit hard but with funk, the vocals are Afro-centric and plenty of irresistible hits come thick and fast from the jazzy tribal swagger of 'Imbalaye' to the big steel drum party sounds of 'Viet Dao' (Klement Bonelli & Yann DL remix). The A-side opens with 'Mind Floating' (Ruffy Pagan Renip), a hypnotic track with a deep bassline, psychedelic synths and a driving beat, followed by 'Chcem Strongly' (Ruffy Surf N' Turf), a more relaxed and ethereal track with cosmic ambient techno and early trance influences. The B-side features two remixes of 'Mind Floating'. The Special Character Peaky Renip remix is a chord-heavy take on the original, while the original 2010 Secret version is a more electro-oriented interpretation. Carnedd Dafydd is a strong release from Luv Jam and Maria Slovakova, showcasing their versatility and skill as producers. The heavy balance of psychedelic and chill out is premier.

Review: Mint Condition continues its run of strong reissues of house and techno music. Originally released on the cult label Robs records in 1995, Kilowatt's 'The Last EP' is finally getting the much deserved repress. Included is the wicked acid banger 'Loose End' which is a diamond of the mid-90s bleep house sound. 'The End' is another standout track on this release that gives us great memories of all the exciting IDM related going ons in the mid 90s - not least in the club of the same name - with echoes of 808 State from the late 80s too. Sometimes you aren't sure why a record's been reissued, but this one is definitely a worthy case. Expect these copies to go fast.

Review: It is very nearly a full ten years ago that Takuya Matsumoto dropped his masterful EKR's Galactic Dance EO on Clone. Fittingly, it now gets reissued by the ever vital Dutch label. All four tracks explore medic house with deep grooves and a far-sighted sense of reverie. The A-side is taken up with a pair of tunes that are split into two parts and both just roll and roam with a delightful freedom. 'The Sun On The Refugees' has a more unsettled melodic phrasing that loops and loops until its joined with some extra keys that release the pressure then 'Satellite Orbit Funk' is downbeat and dusty house a la Theo Parrish. Superb.

Review: Archeo Recordings bring us some more Balearic Italian treasure here with some gold initially recorded in Bologna almost two decades ago. It's a collaboration between friends Bottin and Lucio Dalla that has never before been on vinyl. 'Lunedi Cinema' was an ident that played before Monday night movies on of one of the main Italian TV channels for many years. This electronic version includes the Martedi Mix from 2008, a Minibar Bonus Track and also a mix by pioneering Italian dream house dons Leo Mas & Fabrice with a Bottin dub sealing the deal. It's a superb package of real Italo music history.

Review: Jesse Bru lays down the first in his 'Chronicles Of Bru' series, which narrates the comical tale of an ambitious young man whose sole goal is to save the planet from the false excesses of climate catastrophe and environmental decay. Somehow, this vision of sonic ecology translates to deep, ambient trance and piano house, which is funnelled stylistically into five new heaters for France's Happiness Therapy label. Faint birdsong and overblown Chicago-esque motifs are laid down in a quickly successive, through-composed fashion, as if to suggest that the political project that ignites change should be one of musical, harmonious enjoyment, not of stingy utility, where house music cannot be heard.

Review: The Italian label Theory Of Swing Records, focuses on 90s styled house music. Their ninth release comes to us from the Bari-based moniker ROP Underground Trax (Also known as Rhythm Of Paradise), taking us back to the Detroit House roots with five classic tracks. This EP mixes a blend of soulful and late-night style where the rhythm is so important to the flow, the tracks building over many bars, ebbing and flowing organically. 'I Get High' is a perfect example of the early to mid-90s sound where house music rules the dancefloors, while 'Flash Back' is one of our favourites here with the hypnotic groove that works in all the right ways. The Chicago connection is not lost by ROP Underground Trax as you can tell when you hear 'Keep Me Inside". This record has a great house vibe to it and we suspect house heads old and young will give this EP mad respect.

Review: Dark Entries welcome back the inimitable Doc Sleep aka Melissa Maristuen for a superb new album of ghostly and ethereal house and techno. This is a welcome follow-up to last year's ambient and IDM exploration, Birds, and shows another side that draws on Maristuen's years of queer clubbing. It fuses aspects of New York house, Berlin techno and West-coast breakbeats and is "a love letter to the West Coast's magnificent natural landscape, the light of the Pacific sunrise." That is reflected in the sublime synths and silky rhythms which manage to both move your body but also captivate your mind. It's another cracking album from the Doc.

The label nods to a track Super Flu released back in 2010, which was remixed to great effect by Monkey Safari a couple of years back. Now Super Flu open proceedings on this new release in partnership with Ivan Mas on the epic, infectious 'It's A House Day'. Monkey Safari then hop on the B-side for 'Malmedy', which hits a sweet spot near the mid-00s melodic minimal you'd hear from the likes of Gabriel Ananda. Then Super Flu and Mar+Mer link up for 'AMA', a sensual, emotive hands-in-the-air moment to move the masses.

Max 404's sublime 'Infinite Legs' is an ambient house fantasy of the highest calibre, while Galaxy's 'Axis' is similarly trippy and soft around the edges, setting the tone for the deeper, techno informed shades of house we're in for across the collection. This is elegant, heads down gear which has been coveted by diggers for decades, now available freshly remastered and pressed up in one place.

Review: Croatian producer and DJ Ilija Rudman, is among the leaders in Balearic style of deep house and downtempo and has released on a who's who of some of the strongest labels in the genre like Is It Balearic? Recordings, International Feel Recordings and NuNorthernSoul. For the Retrospective EP, Ilija steps up to produce a bit more dancefloor focused works for the Maze label. 'Foolish Way's has an 80s electro pop funky feel that we really appreciate while the Grem edit of 'Where Do We Go' is great late-night driving music. For the B-side, 'How Many Ways' is almost like a mix of German and Chicago house music. 'The Last Action Hero' is perhaps out favourite on here for being the deeper and more melodic cut of the bunch. Review: Novi Orbis is a label that has said before it is on a journey into outer space and that sonic mission continues here with a new EP from Elias Sternin. He is a fresh new school soundsmith with who impresses with this one from the off: 'Musica Interminable' is all bendy bass and driving, swampy synths with thudding kicks that sound like a future rave in the stars. 'Magnetismo Inexplicable' is another nice and elastic mix of drums and bass with bright progressive chords and 'Three O'clock' (rework) then gets loose and tripped out. Review: The Off Grid label outta Germany serves up its third 12" here and opts for a four-tracker from various artists. TINI's 'WHAT WHAT' kicks off with a bumping house cut that's wired up with some spaced-out pads and warped synths. Rickie then gets all wonky and loose with his off-balance 'Explosion' which has blurts of bass and snappy low ends and GNMR's 'Controlled By Mefistofele' gets more wonky and textural with smeared and smudged sounds and a nice acid bassline. Session 4000 shuts down a high-impact and fresh EP with the astral and speed-out tech with 'C'est Wild'.

Review: The mysterious Creature is back with the seventh release on the blazing hot self-titled label. We have a clue who is behind this label but we aren't 100% sure who is making these impressive slabs of house music. For this edition, 'Singing' cleverly picks out a few lines from Moloko's 'Sing It Back' and turns it into dancefloor devastation. On the second side is the exceptionally dirty and sleezy grinder called 'Freaking'. Both, when used properly, should wreak havoc on the floor and make serious waves in the minimal techno world.

Review: We are always excited to see a new release by S.O.N., as you can be sure to expect some quality techno. This new release is jam-packed with beautiful late night ambient techno. 'Distance Problems' is the title track for the EP and definitely stands out. The deep ambient acid that gives way for a brisk dancefloor knockout is pure sublime producing. 'Fade To Green' is a stunning atmospheric jam that verges on a beautiful acid trance sunset. On Side-2, 'Vanessa' is a floaty ambient techno track that you we just can't get enough of listening here at HQ. Review: DJ Tijzza from Berlin overturns his lapels for a look into his latest illicit wares, this time taking the form of a pair of 'Nasty Tools' to top up Mood Waves' Rap Moods series. Said Rap Moods are essentially dirty house cuts interspersed with obscure hip-hop vocal samples; this is indeed a form in which you cannot go wrong. 'Rap House Jam' compels us to depart from the sofa and relocate to the street floor, with a four-bar vox from god knows where furthering our motivations ever-forward; 'Micro Twerker' is bassier and sparser, but brings proper energy when the thematic "shake yo weight" sample is heard.

Ninja Edits 1 opens with the fused charms of what sounds like sleek, proto-techno synths from Kraftwerk and disco percussion on 'Dance & Music'. 'Get Up & Down' is a deeper cut with some smoky and soulful pads and nice loose percussion that throws it back to the New York disco scene, and the most buttery and seductive of the lot comes last. 'Moon & Night' has a woozy groove and lush strings scoring high next to plenty of rich instrumental funk.
