Glory (5:58)
Glory (Kelly G Dancing dub club mix) (7:55)
Glory (Floorplan remix) (7:21)
Review: When it comes to gospel-powered 21st century dance music, Detroit trio Dames Brown have been involved in many of the most memorable records - not least Sophie Lloyd anthem 'Calling Out' and Horse Meat Disco hook-up 'Message To The People'. Here they join forces with fellow Motor City musician Waajeed for another arms-aloft classic in the making. In its original form, 'Glory' blurs the boundaries between gospel disco and gospel house, with the trio's powerful vocals rising rubbery bass guitar, loose-limbed beats and riotous organ licks aplenty. It comes accompanied by two fine remixes: a stomping, piano riff-powered gospel house take from Rob and Lyric Hood's Floorplan project, and a stomping, thickset gospel disco 'dancing club dub' courtesy of Kelly G.

Toolroom Sampler Vol 8

Shiba San & Ayarez - "Twist It" (4:55)
Friend Within - "Pilka" (7:11)
Maur, Westend, Cami Bear - "Over" (5:43)
Review: Toolroom sits at the top of the tree when it comes to big room house music. Mark Knight's label has mastered the art of maximal sounds and this eighth volume of the Tooroom Sampler series is another one that will do plenty of damage. Essel's 'Sweat' is a rigid tech cut with stiff synths and libidinous vocals, then Shiba San and Ayarez get direct with shuffling tech house cut 'Twist It' complete with big skewed synths. Friend Within's 'Pilka' keeps the energy levels high with fizzing synth loops over textured drums and a fat bassline. Maur x Westend and Cami Bear close out with some brighter melodies to get hands in the air on 'Over.'

I Said No (DJ Deep remix) (5:43)
Review: Parisian producer Jeff The Fool often leans towards the jazzy deep house sounds his city has long been known for. Here he links with Wilt for a new EP on The Chaud that does just that. 'I Said No' is a heavy house cut steeped in US traditional styles, with a libidinous vocal and fat bassline. 'Body & Soul' is a well swung deep house groove with a carefree attitude and 'Vol 334' has more lively drum programming but still a nice warm, scuffed up and intimate feel. The don DJ Deep remixes 'I Said No' into yet another lovely deep house grove.

Wlad - "Lucky Star" (Floog remix) (6:33)
Review: How cheeky do you want it? The Hedzup crew have been transmitting crafty-as-hell minimal house from Paris to the world for many a year now, and they're not letting up in their quest to inject some freaky fun into the club. This latest drop is another split from label main men Mancini and Wlad, leading in with the former's 'Cure Hater' which bounces into ear shot with an irrepressible groove and plenty of wriggling noises snaking around the mix. Nu Zau then steps up with a remix which tips the ingredients into a tougher, 90s-styled beatdown without losing any of that heads down energy you expect from a Hedzup release. Wlad brings a shimmering sophistication to the chords on 'Lucky Star' without losing that naughty rhythm section, giving Floog plenty to work with for a remix which heads further into techy territory.

Review: Afroterraneo Music founder Kiko Navarro steps up for his label next release, but not before enlisting the help of friends and fellow Balearic and house dons DJ Pippi and Willie Graff. Their classy Tempistica Mistica EP offers up a pair of richly percussive and Afro-Latin tinged house cuts that are primed and ready for deployment on the most cultured dance floors. 'N'Fumbei' is a warming shuffler that echoes the work of Fred P, 'Esanah' is more heavy and percussive with its weighty kicks making a lasting mark. 'N'Fumbeats' closes down with a fat, bouncy rhythm brought to life with loose and organic perc.

Wipe The Needle - "Skyscrapers" (9:10)
Backroom Productions - "Classic Vibe" (Dave Lee remix) (6:19)
Raquel Rodriguez - "Undone" (Dave Lee's Disco Blend) (6:29)
Review: Time to Attack the Dancefloor once more as we supply some heavy Disco & House weaponry. Featuring the brand new remix of Opolopo's storming 'Stroke my Disco' by dutch funkateers Fouk who double down on the Piano and Clav workouts for the peak time. Exclusive new material from Wipe The Needle who's 'Skyscrapers' track is a modern Jazz-Funk masterpiece, heavy on the flute and soulful bass. On the flip Dave Lee takes it back to '97 with his rework of Backroom Productions 'Classic Vibe' which sees him flex his house-ier muscles, re-arranging the classic elements and adding extra keys to this much loved underground tune. Finishing off the EP is Dave's remix of nu-soul diva Raquel Rodriguez, where he crafts Raquel's dynamic vocal delivery over chunky Disco drumming & soulful synths before letting loose into Roy Ayers-esque vibes finale!

Roach Motel - "The Night" (Philippa extended remix) (6:35)
Terry Farley, Wade Teo & Kameelah Waheed - "Dancing After Dark" (TDK 90 Dope mix) (6:08)
Review: A follow-up to last year's successful compilation 'Faith Presents: Ain't That A Groove', is given to us by the London-based label Faith ran by DJs Terry Farley, Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis. The high energy house party sound kicks off with Nolan who features the legendary house voice of Sir. Robert Owens. Hilit Kolet isn't shy with the extended remix of 'POV Siren'. This sound is synonymous with Feller and Heller DJ sets of the mid 90s. Philippa's extended remix of 'The Night' by Roach Motel backs that one up with another prime floor filler with hardly any let up. Lastly, Terry Farley, Wade Teo & Kameelah Waheed brings he deep groover "Dancing After Dark" to the party. These tracks will have you and the nightclub crowd out dancing all night.

Review: Local Talk has quietly but assuredly become a vital voice in there underground. It has done so over the last 13 years and now makes that occasion by doing what it does best - serving up timeless club sounds that mix under many different subgenres. This is another feel-good offering from four of the label's talents or as the label puts it, "producers that we love and respect." There is funky bass and soulful vibes from the Soul Renegades opener, Wipe The Needle's 'Light Years Away' is a more serene cosmic journey and The James L'Estraunge Orchestra offer a broken beat and jazzed-up dancer in 'Broken Spells.' Review: Wajeed's tasteful Dirt Tech Rack welcomes Church Boy Lou for some more of that authentic house flavour. 'The Night Is Coming' opens up with funky drum loops and twisted metallic synth lines that swerve in and out of the grooves. 'Keep On Prayin' has a more urgent feel with busier percussive lines and some subtle vocals adding the soul in a gospel fashion then 'Push Em In The Face' is another gospel tinged house looper a la Floorplan which really makes a mark and also comes as an instrumental.

Just Want (5:18)
Proving Ground (5:10)
Review: When it was initially released nine years ago, The Stalwart marked Detroit house legend Rick Wade's first appearance on Rawax offshoot Housewax. Wade's standards are high - he seems incapable of releasing mediocre music - but even then, The Stalwart is extra special. For proof, check out the classic deep house warmth and shuffle of opener 'The Hawk' - all languid electric piano motifs, sturdy drums, spacey stabs and toasty bass - and the marginally funkier and more spacey sounding lusciousness of 'Dream Flute'. Elsewhere, 'Just Want' sees Wade smother a hypnotic, analogue-rich groove in sustained chords, drowsy Rhodes licks and yearning trumpet solos, while 'Proving Ground' achieves a perfect balance between immersive deepness and driving dancefloor energy.

Lunar Down (8:50)
Review: A striking debut EP from Tokyo artist Iori Wakasa; 'Botanica' is a psychedelic house EP unto its own, summoning the environmental/ambisonic ritualisms of his locale, but repackaging them into a thoroughly danceable deep tech aesthetic. It's a fusion sound which is quite rare in other contexts. Wakasa, also a DJ (and now label head) based in Japan, has more recently expanded his repertoire to performances in Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea, and we'd wager it's this wealth of experience that has informed on the impeccable sonic synergies of 'The Pure Land' and 'Lunar Down'.

Review: CWPT's founder Palms Trax is next to coax some left of centre house goodness from the studio of Wallace following fine outings on the likes of Mule Musiq, Studio Barnhus and Rhythm Section. They usually come on his own label Tartan but have increasingly been heard all over the shop and we're glad about that because the more the merrier. 'Willow' is the sort of airy and uplifting melodic hose sound that will make whole crowds float on a cloud. 'Breathe' has the same levitating effect while 'Masada' is a slower sound with more patent chords and sinewy synths. 'River Dancers' is a steamy jungle roller with bird calls, whimsical melodies and a typical feel.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

Six years ago, Vince Watson released a digital-only compilation marking two decades since his first release, in the process providing updated re-makes and remixes of some of his best-loved cuts. The versions on this 12" appeared on that set but have not been released on vinyl before. His re-wire of 1999 cut 'Mystical Rhythm' is little less than sonically gorgeous, subtly updating Watson's classic, Detroit influenced sci-fi techno sound to include all manner of spacey chords, warming organ sounds and jazzy, life-affirming synth solos. His version of 2000's 'Moments in Time' is even deeper and more intergalactic in tone, delivering heart-aching Motor City style machine soul by the boat-load. In a word: stunning.

They offer up late-night club sounds with plenty of musical nouse and worldly nuance that comes as a result of late-night sample mining across the African musical landscape. Their tunes are crafted on nice analogue gear so have that lovely freed edge feel and from the space-house of 'Magic Body' to the swaggering dub of 'Magic Dub' via the cosmic expressiveness of cruising groover 'Love & Care'. Review: French "house music purist" Phil Weeks flaunts his domestic absolutism on the very latest EP 'Nasty Girl' for Robsoul, bringing funky and snappy flair to a nasty vocal uptick. With guest vocals from an unnamed collaborator, the title track bottles the dirty excitement of a new nighttime liaison; 'Thuggish Ruggish' and 'The Ghetto Code', meanwhile, pare things back far farther into chuggy Chicago house territory, sacrificing the glammy vocals for analogue-flavoured, brass-driven groovetastics.

This new conceptual release says it was "created to honour the brave passengers on the first ever Space Tours flight." It's a cosmic trip made using "real interview footage" and has some very lovely artwork to help heighten the illusion. The music itself is futurities and melodic tech with wispy electro rhythms and celestial chord sequences. It's an expansive mind movie, a deeply immersive and escapist soundtrack that makes great use of the long-player format while also offering up plenty of great moments for the dance floor. A real triumph.

The original artists are a five-piece Tanzanian outfit founded on community and they have a global approach to sound that plays out here. Review: Westcoast Goddess is an enigmatic producer who betrays a love of 90s house and tech and golden-era r&b on this fresh new EP for Intrinsic Rhythm. It is a perfect mix of quality electronic production and good-time vibes: the loose, tumbling drums of 'Fallin' come with wispy synths and heart-aching vocal samples. 'Time 4 Change' is more deep and meditative and 'Change Is Comin'' picks up the pace with some snappier drums and snares under a gospel-style vocal chorus. 'One O' These Days' brings steamy and squelchy bassline funk to the party.

The EP, released via Istanbul-based label Oath, was a result of his new creative space in Los Angeles after moving from London. 'It's Me' was produced by DJ Maestro and DJ 001, both influential figures in the Detroit techno scene. The B-side, meanwhile, hears a retake from the adjacent DJ Resurgence. Review: Todmorden quartet Working Men's Club have long held a soft spot for Sheffield, with much of their music being recorded in the city under the watchful eye of producer Ross Orton. It makes perfect sense, then, that they'd commission an EP full of reworks from Steel City producers. Toddla T kicks things off in fine fashion via a rave-igniting, dancehall-tinged SoYo bass rendition of 'Money Is Mine' tailor-made for the city's Kabal parties, while bleep & bass godfathers Forgemasters deliver a drowsy, atmospheric, post-industrial deep house tweak of 'The Last One'. Elsewhere, Diseasa opts for an angular, industrial electro flex on a fuzzy re-wire of 'Rapture', Orton squelches his way through a tough-as-steel acid house remake of 'Plays', and Charla Green gives 'Fear Fear' a dystopian post-jungle makeover.

This outing on Spanish label Pulp - written back during the lockdowns - is one of his best yet - a deep look into the cosmos, with star-gazing synth lines and analogue drum sounds that are frayed around the edges. Misty-eyed chords define many tracks, with the loosely jumbled drums and rasping basslines all interlocking perfectly. 'Corns Funk' has twanging bass riffs that remind of Prince, while 'Night Drive' is a Dam-Funk style late-night street cruise during sunset.
