Jongkoloni (7:09)
Arzaa (4:45)
Xibi (4:52)
Tudod (5:47)
Review: The Saint Wax Edit Service is back with more offerings for us to bow before. This latest eclectic disco sermon comes from Pleasure Voyage and kicks off with the topical Afro disco heat of 'Jongkoloni'. 'Arzaa' has a similarly international feel with Arabic-sounding vocals over a nice striped back but simple synth-heavy groove and 'Xibi' then sinks into a lovely deep house groove with 90s influences and more worldly vocals. Last of all is 'Tudod' which has nice tight bassline twangs under pirouetting chords and vocals. A fine EP.

Crazy BBY
Rose
Finally
Review: Taking a break from his own Deaf Test label duties, Ploy casually drops a terse three-tracker for Timedance here, returning to ravier and bassier roots. Nominally a "mission statement for the party athlete", the EP aims to defend the all-nighterers, wayward party animals and/or the ten-hour-afters-lovers, sonically suggesting that the art of the night out - nightcraft - is a fine art indeed. Or perhaps it's a lost art, hence Ploy's implicit attempt to revive it through song. Case in point: 'Crazy BBY' is the leading star, a snake-charming of unhesitant percs and giant detuned saws. 'Rose' fleshes the latter element out further, making for a clappy-happy alarma; and 'Finally' seems to suggest a quieter coda in Hessle-ific tribal drums and low-level love moans. Perhaps it's an ode to a quieter, more connected moment enjoyed among friends, towards the end of the night.

Pantin (8:16)
Tingle (10:47)
Review: YYK no label is a sub label of yoyaku that has been turning out left of centre electronic sounds for the last four years. Pochtrone is a mysterious new artists who has taken care of three consecutive releases on the label all in quick succession. He draws on minimal, techno and tech house for his inspiration but comes up with something that sounds like none of them. Opener 'Pantin' is a tense and involving affair that has hurried bass which seems to almost fall over itself while alien effects and vocals fight to cut free from the tight groove. On the flip is the epic 10-minute-plus 'Tingle,' with its bulbous bass and skittish percussion constantly on the move, trying your mind in knots and keeping your feet busy.

Locoliente (7:42)
Review: Serial collaborator Romain "Traumer" Reynaud is at it again, this time joining forces with fellow Parisian producer Gregory "Point G" Dorsa for a three-track workout on INFUSE. The experienced duo predictably hits its stride from the word go, serving up some swinging rhythms, hypnotic sub-bass and Salt & Pepa samples on peak-time tech-house box jam "Push It". There's a more percussive and slightly glitchy feel to the bongo-laden "Modulation Tropique", while banging B-side "Locoliente" feels like the kind of bouncy tech-house floorfiller that Sheffield sorts Swag used to do so well in their early 2000s pomp.

Leo Pol - "Korben Dallas" (6:15)
Marc & Leo - "21" (7:49)
Leo Pol - "Parking" (6:42)
Review: Parisian producer Leo Pol is back after a great release on Velvet back in 2014 that showed his potential to create some deep, dusty and totally tripped out house for the afterhours, particularly on the Le Chat Qui Danse EP. He now inaugurates local label IILE (a sublabel of Uniile) with some more hypnotic subtlety; even if it is tougher and faster than his previous effort. There's the opener "2 La Deep De Bretagne" which really rolls deep. "Korben Dallas" gets its swing on in infectious fashion, much like local homeboy Varhat can. On the flip, he teams up with Marc on "21" for a bumpy and minimal jam while closing out the EP is the absolutely sublime "Parking" which is sexy and summery and has a certain DJ Gregory flavour about it.

Review: The second drop on Storytellers comes from the mighty Mihai Pol, one of the brightest lights in the Rominimal scene right now. 'Tell Me' sets the record off in superlative fashion, toying with th plushest synth work and crafty, dubbed-out sound design all gliding across the top of the crisp, undulating rhythm section. It's delicate and impactful in equal measure, much like the other three tracks on this knock out EP. From 'Transcendence's moody keys to 'Warlord's cheeky nods to rave and the wriggly surrealism of 'Addicted', it's the sound you want in your bag to satisfy discerning heads and the wider party public alike.

Review: London-based label Telum only recently started their offshoot label Aurum - back in April this year, actually - and now comes a third transmission from the cutting-edge of the tech house world. Mihai Pol is in charge with a crunchy and crispy sound that is full of kinetic energy and twitchy beats on 'De Tune.' There is more playfulness in the synths that wander up and down the scales on 'Remote' and last of all is 'Mocanita', again a steely and tightly arranged cut with clipped drum funk and synths squirming in and out of the beats.

Subsonic Groove (8:06)

Review: Mihai Pol has been a leader of the Romanian underground for a long time now but keeps on coming up with the goods each time he steps out on to wax. It is the 15th EP from Hashplant which he takes care of here with his usual deft touch and silky fusion of rhythm and sound. 'Decisions' kicks things off with nice broken beat patterns and funky bass topped off with some lush cosmic synth work. 'Ripple' is a more zoned out and dreamy cut but one packed with meticulous synth craft and 'Subsonic Groove' is another super smooth one for blissed out cruising. Last of all is 'Fading Light' with its percolating tech funk and glossy synth lines shining bright.

Enzo Leep - "Full Bright Inside" (7:05)
Review: It might only be young but Sounds of Sirius is a label that has got plenty of attention over its first few EPs. This seventh outing from the New Zealand crew welcomes a quartet of minimalists who all offer up their own take on the genre. The master Mihai Pol opens with the gurgling late-night intricacies of 'The Sun' then Last Pines explores a tripped out 5am mood with paranoid vocals and warped synths on 'Midnight 01.' Nibaaldo's 'El Repaso De Ludovico' is a superb tapestry of reverb, loops, underlapping drums and snaking bass and Enzo Leep then offers a more peak time and punchy closer in 'Full Bright Inside' to end another fresh EP.

Review: The Politics Of Dancing label hits release number 30 here with a suitably fresh new offering that finds the eponymous label head stepping up with three balmy new tunes. 'Let's Do This' is fresh as you like house music with deep drums and heady pads circling round in cosmic fashion. Boris Werner's Bleep remix is a little more driving and thumping for the later hours and then 'Mamma' again gets its head up amongst the stars with more colourful synth work before the liquid and loopy house pumper 'Never Stop' closes out a lively and vibrant EP.

Review: Politics Of Dancing once again gets our vote here with some balmy deep house propositions from the eponymous production team working alongside French stylist Djebali. 'Close To Gate' layers balmy pads and smeared chords over punchy and dynamic drums with plenty of cosmic effects up top. There is a little more urgency to 'Soul Brothers' which skates and skips along nicely beneath shimmering vocals sounds and wispy melodies. 'Simple Minds' brings more physical drum work and infectious finger clicks while the Franco Cinelli remix gets things on more of a breezy and rolling tip. A useful, heartwarming EP of modern deep house music.

Review: Politics Of Dancing Records is an ever expanding and ever evolving and ever excellent label that has recently grown to include the P.O.D Cross sublabel. This next vital two tracker is a split with Politics of Dancing the artist on both sides, with a different producer on each. It is Djoko with whom he links first for a spaced out tech cut that spins you out into the cosmos on warm pads and metallic drums. Review: Before relocating to New York City last year, Pontchartrain invited the legendary Javonntte over to record some material at his east-side Detroit studio. The result was the deep, down and dirty late night groove of 'Keep Dancing' (Detroit mix) while the NYC mix is a more pumping, heads-down affair on an old school electronic disco vibe with a nice dose of 303 acid for good measure. Over on the flip, 'Cirrus' is a deeper, cloudy and synth-heavy house track, which is backed by Delano Smith's dubby and hypnotic Motor City Re-Rub.

They now introduce Vilnius by way of Saint Petersburg disco producer Alexander Pletnev aka Ponty Mython onto the label, who returns for his first release in two years. 'Onimano X991' is a bleepy and hypnotic oddball groove of the more low slung variety, that's quite unlike anything else we've heard from Pletnev before. This is followed by DJ Fett Burger's Time In Atmosphere mix, which injects a breaks-driven shuffle into the track and is equally of good value

Review: Hot Creations was synonymous with a creamy house sound and poolside vibe that took us all out of the bleak minimal years more than a decade ago. In recent times though it has managed to diversify, which is always important if a label wants to survive its first wave of fame. James Pool does a fine job of exploring new ground here with 'Miss Tony' (feat Sugur Shane) combing big sax energy, high speed drums and sleazy rapped vocals. It sure is fun. With Mizbee he crafts 'Inner Child' which is a shuffling and garage-flecked house cut then solo effort 'Juicy Roots' is another smooth mix of garage and house.

Review: There's rather a lot of gold in Ian Pooley's back catalogue, as during the 1990s he was arguably one of Europe's most in-form house producers. ChiWax is certainly aware of the treasure waiting to be reissued, because they've chosen to deliver a new edition of the German's 1995 double-pack for Canadian label Definitive Recordings, Relations. Full to bursting with tracks that add a touch of dancefloor funk to a classically warming, U.S-inspired deep house sound, it's a set that sounds every bit as alluring now as it did 27 years ago. Our picks include the acid-flecked brilliance of 'Feel It', the sweaty bump of 'Sorority', the Cajmere-esque sleaziness of 'The Move' and the wild, twisted, acid-fired percussive insanity of 'Re-Linked'.

Review: We're not sure about the specific inspiration behind Ian Pooley's ongoing 'Studio A' series of EPs, but it feels like an exercise in getting the most from different electronic instruments that have long been lurking in the German veteran's studio. Either way, EP3 boasts some genuinely cracking cuts. Perhaps the headline attraction is 'SP12 Electric Mistress', an analogue-rich exercise in skewed, post acid-house jack with added Yorkshire bleeps that comes accompanied by a raw, discordant and mind-mangling, acid-flecked '303 Mix'. Elsewhere, 'PSS 480' is a thumping, driving, bass-heavy old school jack-track, while 'Viola' offers a tantalising mix of bustling techno drums, sci-fi synth-strings and creepy riffs.

Review: Just a week after dropping its first release - a fine reissue of a 1993 techno classic - VIL is back with another superb EP. Pop Panic's People on Earth is an experimental and leftfield take on techno with freewheeling rhythms built from strange sound sources. The Sound Down version of the title track is all silvery synths and loopy tech drums with twanging metal lines and snaking dub bass. 'Pop Panic (Secrets Inside)' then picks up the pace with a heavily layered and tightly interwoven mix of drums, hits and synths that work your bones loose and 'Pop Panic (Suite 999)' goes deeper, darker and more spare.

Mihai Popoviciu kicks off with 'Elevation Zero' and soon sinks you into a nice silky groove with warped pads and glistening tech drums. Pornbugs & Cristina Lazic keep the smooth and serene moods going with the subtle and supple 'November Haze'. Well this artiss of the same name offers more lasting thrills with this fresh house EP. The titles are all tongue in cheek slights at some of dance music biggest apparent ills starting with streaming giants Spotify. It's a low slung and sleazy cut for early doors. Tusk says, "The title track from TW15 was conceived after a particular heavy Tusk Wax label party at Renate in Berlin. I went back to my old pal PORK INTL's place for a bit of drunk studio time and told him all about the living legend that is Gizzy the Fox. A couple of bottles of wine later and I was telling the story to a microphone and we were writing an oddity of a track. If you have had the pleasure to meet Gizzy and spend time in Renate you might understand the lyrics, if not, they'll probably just sound like the rantings of a drunk man, funny that."

Their work is fresh and contemporary throughout here, starting with the warming and sundown sounds of dubby tech roller 'See Through My Eyes'. Miroloja remixes it with a little extra sci-fi atmosphere but no less pace, then 'Sigma' is a nice elastic tech house vibe with smeared pads and dubby overtones. The Roger Gerressen remix might be the best of the lot - another of his signature dub reworks with ripping chords and claps to die for.

The track is inspired by his ancestral roots in the Khoi San people, and explores the theme of using technology to alter our dreams. The original mix is a delicate and hypnotic blend of minimal beats, ethereal synths and his soothing voice. The remix by Lawrence of Smallville and Dial reinterprets the track in his typically understated, late night mood music style. The EP also includes an exclusive B-side track called 'Vigor,' which is a deeper and moodier affair that creates a more edgy and mysterious atmosphere.

1960 What ? (12:24)
1960 What ? (Opolopo Kick & Bass Rerub) (8:27)
Review: When Gregory Porter first released "1960 What?" back in 2012, he'd yet to become the soul superstar we know and love today. The single was released in limited numbers first time round and, thanks to his elevation to star status, has become an in-demand collector's item - hence this timely reissue. It's every bit as classic-sounding as the majority of Porter's work, with the main man providing an impassioned delivery of conscious lyrics over a wonderful soul-jazz backing track. Serious contemporary dancefloor thrills are provided by Opolopo's superb flipside revision, which re-imagines the track as a bass-heavy chunk of jazz-house brilliance that rivals St Germain's "Rose Rouge" in its ability to send dancefloors wild.

Review: It is with a heavy heart that we wish Houston based imprint Kolour LTD farewell after 15 years of serving up the real proper deep stuff - respect! They wanted to put out one more 12" (because that's just who they are!) and it comes courtesy of Australian group The Posse - a five piece run by Andrew Elston and Ross Ferraro, comprised of veterans from all over Australia's music scene who have had releases on Plastic World and local Sydney maverick Ken Oath's own label. Featured on the Labor Of Love EP are four deeply discofied cuts that will live on in the heats of the label's most devoted followers for years to come: from the lo-slung and sultry summertime deepness of "S.A.M.", the psyched-out mission aboard the acid express that is "Devious Melon" or the feel good hands in the air epic "Pepe's Beat" that features a totally mad chord progression - what a way to close out an end of an era.

Falling Back Into Love (4:16)
Falling Back Into Love (DJ Spen edit) (3:54)
Review: Famously returning to the game he was part of right back in the late 80s, Brian Power released his first album last year at the age of 54. Now back with his first new material since then, he's not messing around. Featuring long standing Muthafunka Marc Evans, "Falling Back Into Love" is a sprightly sunny side soulful house gem loaded with timeless appeal and emotion. And if that's not enough, the legend that is DJ Spen has supplied his own edit for the B. Feel the love!

Dansakoni (6:20)
Dansakoni (Dreems remix) (7:18)
Review: Irishman Peter Power has become quite a well known figure in Berlin since moving there several years ago and has been one of the figures behind some of the city's now legendary haunts like Kleine Reise (RIP) and the successful Loftus Hall/Bertrams: which has had a great run thus far too. Now the man behind the Ufordia imprint returns with his second outing on Thomas Von Party's Multi Culti, which itself has also made the move to the German capital. Power delves deep into the exotic here, borrowing heavily from African music and getting very atmospheric and esoteric in the process. The life affirming raindance of "Adama Waro" (original mix) is certainly geared for some moments of truth on the dancefloor. Equally spiritual is the traditional percussion based journey of "Mori Baka" (original mix). There's some great remixes by label manager Dreems and Bucharest duo Khidja: the latter's contributions which shine the most, particularly on their balearica infused/Second Summer of Love sounding remix of "Dansakoni".

Review: Mint Condition, as you probably know if you are reading this, deals in reissuing classic tech house cuts. It has raced ahead in its mission and is now up to a 55th EP. This one brings back Presence's White Powder EP. 'Heart' opens up with dark but well swung drums overlaid with diva vocals while '$10' is a frazzled, slapping cut with bubbling basslines from the 90s. 'Power Chords' is a loved up dee house cut with echoing pads and cavernous grooves and 'Giving Love' is a jumbled of tribal hits and woodpecker bass.
