  4. Opolopo - "Put Your Cap On" (5:43)
Review: Z Records DJ-focused Attack The Dancefloor series reaches its tenth installment via an EP packed full of previously unheard secret weapons. There's naturally plenty to get excited about, from the piano-driven goodtime house grooves of Crackazat's floor-filling "What You're Feeling", to the boogie and jazz-funk inspired space-house of Opolopo's brilliant "Put Your Cap On". Sandwiched in between you'll find two Joey Negro disco workouts: his own extended 'Boogie Dub Extravaganza' version of the Sunburst Band style "Must Be The Music", and a nu-disco-meets-Italo-disco reinvention of "Stomp Your Feet" from Crazy P's Chris Todd under the now familiar Hot Toddy alias.

Malaysia (12")

  1. Malaysia (Double Beat Disco Boogie remix)
  2. Malaysia (original version)
  3. Something New (Parov Stelar remix)
  4. Something New (original version)
Review: "Malaysia" is the 12" debut of Italian artist Lorbi, who's singer Odette Di Maio already performed on the stunning Parov Stelar track "Faith" from the album "Seven & Storm". This release features two amazing vocal tracks plus remixes by Double Beat (a side project of Stefano Ghittoni from The Dining Rooms) and mister Parov Stelar himself. From trip hop's ashes, "Ring", the debut album of the Italian project Lorbi is a unique experiment with a new gentle electronic mood. Lorenzo Bianchi's producer and musician skills bring Odette Di Maio's clean voice to the surface of an ocean of manipulated sounds, light noises, whispered words, warm basses, unusual rhythms. Avoiding the latest musical trends yet using the most advanced means of experimental acoustic music to reach softness in a minimal way, Lorbi proposes tracks varying in structure and feeling in an original mix of styles and beats. Never forgetting the value of songs over the charm of a refined technique, Lorbi's music strucks the listeners with powerful melodies and visionary lyrics. Lorbi suggests a nocturnal atmosphere with sweet and sour notes that remind you of already known musical realms but will still introduce you to a new dimension of a musical genre that keeps evolving and that always rejects definition. Lorenzo Bianchi, from Milan, now living in Paris, is a composer and a 360° musician, founder and member of the French ES-Crew, one among the European music avantgardes, involved in performing arts, dance and theatre worldwide. Only in 2002 did he decide to finally start up his own project, Lorbi, with the intention to connect his own peculiar sounds with some of Italy's and France's best talents. Odette has had multiple experiences worldwide, records, tours with various bands and an acoustic solo project, TV shows appearances, videos, radio and press and is still an adventurous interpreter, challenging herself in different styles in her international level of songwriting.

  2. Ride The Rhythm (Frankie Knuckles mix) (7:56)
Review: Whoever is putting out these Trax reissues - whether it's the original label from Chicago or someone smart enough to get their hands on the master tapes - is doing a mighty fine job of it because now you can own some of the most pioneering work in house music for less than the usual $100 secondhand market tag. This time it's legend Marshall Jefferson's (creator of the HOUSE MUSIC ANTHEM) On The House project that sees a re-lick onto vinyl. The gorgeous "Ride The Rhythm" is spun out by the visionary mixing skills of Chicago's late Ron Hardy one the A-side, and Chicago next best (and unfortunately late) Franke Knuckles who turns in a slightly less wonky affair. Both essential, buy on sight.

Review: Disco Shed Records, the exciting new label founded by Swede, Ted Nilsson is poised and ready to unveil it's new secret weapon and debut release on a double side 12"..."Just brilliant house music" is the concept behind Ted Nilsson's brainchild - it does exactly what it says on the tin. Disco Shed Records was created 8 years ago as a simple platform on which Ted used to expose his music production, remixing and DJing around Europe. After 3 years DJing around Spain, he is now based in the Midlands, where he is producing and remixing quality house music across the board. The debut release is proud to have support and plays from some top notch DJs such as Carl Kennedy, Sarah Main, Rodger Sanchez, Phatjak (Audio Therapy), Jake Duval (Ministry Of Sound) and Kid Circus (Renaissance) to name but a few. One Sane Man (aka Ted Nilsson) is no stranger to producing an uplifting classic house track, in fact, he has been producing and remixing dance music for years. The base coat for the original mix consists of a driving, strumming bassline teamed with a soulful guitar loop. Add to the ingredients, a dash of standout diva vocals and a slice of a surpassed summer. Squelchy bassline and metallic loops are on the agenda for Nilsson's Higher mix. This seriously moody yet melodic mix brings in elements of taut electro disco and works perfectly along side the original's peak time vocals and grainy synths. The beats are raw and crunchy, perfect alternative to the original if you want something dark and deep, taking this track in a completely different direction. Those summer feelings, that's what the Moriarty remix is all about. Big pads and atmospheric sounds mixed with summer guitars. It's a perfect formula for an Ibiza sunset. A Persian vocal sample teamed with funk guitar riff make the original mix a delight of high quality electro house with jazz-funk grooves. The main breakdown features an understated yet highly effective ticking clock, which showcases the production quality. Melodic yet dirty, soulful yet acid tinged, the original mix proves an impressive start to this duo's talents.
