Review: The deep archives of disco legend and synth wizard Patrick Cowley continue to prove inspirational for Dark Entries. Cowley, who passed away from AIDS-related illness in 1982, was the multi-faceted producer behind numerous disco anthems such as Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)". Since 2009, Dark Entries has been working with Cowley's friends and family to shed light on the lesser known facets of this singular artist's output. This has resulted in a string of celebrated archival albums, including Catholic (featuring Jorge Socarras), School Daze, Muscle Up, Afternooners, Mechanical Fantasy Box, and Some Funkettes. For the latest addition to this saga, White Trash Boom-Boom, Dark Entries has teamed up with The Stud to release four tracks culled from some of Cowley's earliest rehearsal tapes. In 1972 Patrick was living in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood with Theresa McGinley and Janice Sukaitis, friends of his from New York. In 1973, Theresa and Janice formed White Trash Boom-Boom, an all-female avant-garde performance troupe. Reacting to the Angels of Light and the Cockettes, they captured the spirit of the times: camp, confrontational, and delirious.

What Am I Going To Do (With Everything I Know) (2:31)

Soft Spoken Man (3:08)
Time (2:53)
Almost Careless (2:12)
Review: Tamara Lindeman was at a real transition point in life when What Am I Going to do With Everything I Know was first unveiled. A six track strong EP, here the moodiness and tangible sense of isolation, loneliness, and hopelessness that had once emanated from her voice dissipates into equally tender and gentile thoughts on an impending marriage and all that may come with it. For some, an equally troubling time in their lives, for others something to truly work towards and - when it finally arrives - celebrate, either way it's a subject ripe for emotional songwriting.

But in actual fact, Lindeman, her fiance and troupe treat the concept of matrimony with something close to apathy, or at least lackadaisical 'might as well'-ness. The culmination of this record, 'Almost Careless', sees her ask the question 'what if', but in a way that's neither excited nor nervous, but simply filled with inquisitiveness and a matter of fact consideration.

Viimne Ratsu (3:17)
Kuu Maa (3:48)
Review: Something in the Eastern European house and dance music proclivity has always struck us as enduringly authentic, perhaps due to its interest in folk music fusions; the label Sad Fun have surely played a key part in doling out this impression. Now they offer their latest addition to the fantasy with a label-described "true Estonian lowkey gem" in the form of duo Ajukaja & Edith Karlson, aka. Vana, whose combined efforts frankly, dustily and ironically toy with the pop music cliches native to their homeland. A-and-B-siders 'Vimme Ratsu' and 'Kuu Maa' are said to rework an '80s Estonian coastal folk-pop favourite and perform a "pseudo-reggae" pastiche respectively. Both have that effortless murmured charm on the vocals, recalling a nostalgic time of European make-do, A10-mic-from-the-junk-store, bottle episodic, rickety recorded goodness.

Review: It seems that Record Store Day 2022 isn't done yet as we get this limited 12" just for the occasion from Sun's Signature. It is an EP of five tracks by vocalist Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins and percussionist Damon Reece who has worked with Spiritualized, Massive Attack and Lupine Howl. The music is an experimental fusion of folk, synth and downtempo and is a fine offering for a debut release. After so long in the works it's a delight to finally have a finished product from this forward looking pair.

Review: Sun's Signature is one of the many diasporic offshoots of the dream pop world trailblazed by the Cocteau Twins and bands like them. The collaborative project of the Twins' Elizabeth Fraser and Bunnymen/Spiritualized percussionist Damon Reece, the duo's debut EP - now reissued on vinyl a year after its digital debut on Partisan - came as a unique curveball for either artist. Five tracks of distinctive chamber pop whirl away on the hi-fi, playing out in a midst of synaesthetically yellow-tinged dream haze, with forensic traces of trip-hop and film music to boot. Afraid netiher of folk harmonies nor huge-roomed drum workouts, the likes of 'Apples', 'Bluedusk' and 'Make Lovely The Day' are sure to go down as enduring additions to the dream pop continuum.

And it comes in the form of this special bit of white festive wax (a picture disc version is also available on Juno) featuring his take on two Christmas classics. Review: Somehow what we have here is a lost MPB gem, but from rural Finland. This is a first-ever reissue of it, 33 years after it was first released by the Brazilian pair of Rosanna Guimaraes Tavares and Zelia Nogueira da Fonseca aka Rosanna & Zelia. They left their home in Latin America in 1988 and headed to Europe where they dropped a wealth of albums in Germany into the mid-2000s. Zelia still make music and the pair sang on a house cut by German mainstay Ian Pooley. They wrote this one while on a short trip to Finland for the local label Maumau Music and it got a regional release at the time - and now makes it onto the world stage.

En La Discoteca Reggaeton
I'm In A Dancing Mood
Review: The title of veteran singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman's latest EP, Yatasamaroun, is an Arabic word that, roughly translated, means 'lovers talking softly together in the moonlight'. It's perhaps fitting, then, that the title track is a gorgeously exotic, steamy and moonlit affair that fuses North African, Andalucian and Middle Eastern instrumentation with spoken word monologues and Arabic singing. It's a fine, intoxicating musical brew that makes an even greater impact in the included 'Extended Mix' form. Elsewhere across the CD single, 'En La Discoteca Reggaeton' is a jangling, bluesy chunk of global musical fusion that's bold and infectious enough to suggest that it could work on open-minded dancefloors, while 'I'm In a Dancing Mood' sees Richman add his David Byrne-esque lead vocals to a Flamenco-inspired workout.

Review: Mumford & Sons drop a surprise single release alongside Pharrell Williams, 'Good People', delivering on a long-awaited promise to hop in the studio together after years of knowing each other. Finally falling back on their immediate instincts, 'Good People' hears the band and the solo wunderkind sing of tiredness and revelation, making adept use of a dry, driving, sportsmanlike instrumental palette (think hand claps, stomps, gospel harmonies). Though cryptic in theme, the mood on this one-off is one of triumph and impending miracle works to come.

Review: This Record Store Day 2019 exclusive finds Mumford and Sons at work in the famous Electric Lady Studios in New York. It was there that they decided to serve up four carefully reimagined versions of tracks from their acclaimed Delta album. Each one shows a different, incredibly tender side. 'Woman' is first with its gentle piano keys and closely mic-ed vocals soothing the soul, while 'Guiding Light' has more upbeat but still lo-fi guitar riffs and 'Wild Heart' is another showcase of the beautifully raw and emotive vocals of lead singer Marcus Oliver Johnston Mumford. 'If I Say' is a rousing, heart swelling closer.

Review: Canadian singer-songwriter June McDoom makes something rather unclassifiable; poppy-noisy smatterings of sound and melody with influences from jazz, blues and soul, but combined in such a way as to not be as easily categorisable as that combination might normally make out. Her latest self-titled project here collects a slew of personal intimations and ballads reflecting a wealth of young life experiences, relationships and emotions. The extent of its sensitivity can only be sought in between the grit, as there's a deep well of texture embedded in every track, but listen between the lines (and take a peek at its collaborations with artists like Sufjan Stevens, Neko Case, Iron & Wine and Andrew Bird), and you'll soon glean a solid idea for its stated, romantic intent.

The pair have a magical musical synergy that really shines through here as they interweave and uplift one another. 'Warm You' is a real classic that fits in the canon of timeless ballads. Review: Sometimes it's just too difficult to contain our excitement; we're quaking in our boots at news of Khruangbin's next release, with the Texan three-piece this time lending their alt-indie-funk mastery to vocal frontage by Leon Bridges. The humorously titled lead single 'B-side' is emblematic of their stated aim here - to redefine "how people perceive Texas music i that beautiful marriage of country and r'n'b i and really paying homage to that." The sonic result? Bubbling bass and wahhy riffs, over a ghostly and misty relaxers' beat. Its hook digs into our thighs deeper than a Sheriff's steel spurs, and fittingly, it's music video is themed after a 19th Century western town.

Review: Omena once again calls on the superb sounds of Golden Retriever for this adventurous new EP that very much takes you away from the here and now and deposits you somewhere warmer. 'Part Lake' opens up with the joys of a spring day - acoustic strings rippling out as sun beams down. 'Andro Dunos' slows to a crawl and has a more star-gazing feel while 'Digambara' is a gentle rhythm that casts you out to sea. Two variations of 'Modulations' allows you to get lost in some lush synth tapestries and 'Kizuna Encounter' then ends with another lovely sonic day dream that empties your mind.

Still As The Night (feat Andie Belle) (3:54)
Review: Long-faced Boston blues trio GA-20 deliver a swampy, bluesy take on Dolly Parton's classic, 'Jolene'. While the original Parton number's lyrics dealt in the instantly-memorable theme of a queen bee stealing the singer's beloved - "just because you can" - the original song could nonetheless be accused of obscuring the melancholic feel of the lyrics, by lending them an uptempo dance backing. GA-20 might be credited with fixing that problem here, stripping things back to a lilting blues plod, convincingly reworked into a vintage, boxy, sepia-toned context.

Review: Two towering labels, Alternative Tentacles and Crispin Glover, break the mould for a momentary merger on this artistic collision of rogue planets: a new split reissued 7" housing that infamous syncretic, Patrick Fitzgerald, Motorpsycho and Jello Biafra, and their twin versions of Fitzgerald's original song 'Punch'. Fitzgerald is best known as a pioneer of folk punk, famously channelling his sardonic wit into a fleeting, light but somehow also epical sound. 'Punch' first surfaced in 2009 as a one-off single released under Crispin Glover's remit; it's now heard once more in both versions, tracking incendiary denunciations of politics on Fitzgerald's part, amid a suicidal, guitar-driven ascension into the air.

Ahead of their fourth LP, for which they will be touring in 2024, the song comes to us as a heart-rending slow funk number, with the sultry, up-close, and breathy vocals of Amy Boone retelling a complex tale of sorrow, conspiracy, casinos, and a restored faith in the Christmas spirit, in spite of it all. Dume is a 16-song album (2 LPs) by Neil Young with Crazy Horse from 1975, recorded during the Zuma recording sessions. It includes tracks and outtakes from Zuma. Thus, think of it like the most complete package or extended version on Zuma. This period (just three years after Harvest) of Neil's music is some of his most productive and beloved writing in his 50+ year career. These extra tracks add not only just more music to enjoy but a unique look into the sessions as they were. The two albums are housed a beautifully packaged gatefold as well.

Chrome Dreams was originally compiled as an acetate to be considered for release in 1977, but it never made it to press and only existed as a widespread bootleg. A fair wedge of the songs made their way onto other Neil Young and Crazy Horse releases in other versions, but there's something special about hearing the likes of 'Hold Back The Tears' in this context, recorded as a solo acoustic affair with a rawness which lets Young's craft shine through in all its glory.

The 22-track album includes live recitals of all-time classics "Heart Of Gold", "After The Gold Rush" and "The Needle & The Damage Done", but sadly, no "Rockin' In The Free World" this time round. Neil Young devotees will also be pleased to learn of "No One Seems To Know", a number that has not appeared on any other official release. Just like a live concert too, the most entertaining parts of this album are usually heard between the songs, with Young joking that this could last as long as George Burns' cigar.

As opposed to his usual polemical protest, 'Hitchhiker' provides refreshing and necessary solace from the increasingly insane zeitgeist. Recorded over one night in 1976 with Young's then-producer David Briggs, this previously unreleased set is thoroughly engaging through its purity and presence. The closeness with which the two worked together is audible through Briggs' intimate production, and this rediscovered gem serves to prove Young's continuing relevance and could provide an engaging introduction to a new generation of fans.

As Neil put it on his NYA site:
Songs from my life, recently recorded, create a music montage with no beginnings or endings. The feeling is captured, not in pieces, but as a whole piece. Only for listening.

Review: Storytelling country rock titan Neil Young might have lived out his heyday penning songs that persist in cultural memory almost as stickily and earwormingly as pure folk tranmissions like "Happy Birthday", but that doesn't mean he's rested on his laurels; not one bit, in fact. True to this, Before And After comes as Young's whopping 45th studio album, sure to set new and old fans alight with glee at word of its special status as a "trip into (Young's) musical history", in the words of co-producer Lou Adler. Of course, this communicates nothing else except the fact that Young has braved both his nearly unending back-catalogue and his unheard vaults, lending choice selections from both each a fresh re-recording. The likes of 'I'm The Ocean', 'Homefires' and 'Burned' are each set aright, to the extent that Young insists that the listener experience the release in one big go, having been conceived as a single 48-minute piece, despite its divvying-up into track-length revisitations.

Review: Hako Yamasaki is a chinstrokers' legend of Japanese folk music, releasing 22 sensitive jazz and easy listening albums since her debut in 1975. Tobimasu (Flying) is her first album and is largely an introductory showcase of her talents: haunting vocals, poetic lyrics, acoustic guitar. What ensued was the entrenching of Yamasaki's into public memory - here was something about her mixture teenage angst, feminist themes and grounding in 1970s new age culture that the music-loving public simply could not resist.

Review: Some 20 years into their existence, Brooklyn band Woods are truly in control of their destiny. Headed up by Jeremy Earl, this twelfth studio album took shape from his loops which were then passed around the other band members to build upon, with guitarist Jarvis Taveniere piecing the end results together. It's a kaleidoscopic listen which folds in easy listening whimsy, brain-fried psychedelia and pastoral wonder - all impressive for a band more typically associated with New York. Already widely hailed as one of their finest works, this vinyl edition comes via the band's own Woodsist label.

Review: Woods are in bloom again, inviting you to disappear into a new spectrum of colors and sounds and dreams on Perennial. Formed in Brooklyn in 2004, Woods have matured into a true independent institution, above and below the root, reliably emerging every few years with new music that grows towards the latest sky. Operating the Woodsist label since 2006 and curating the beloved homespun Woodsist Festival for the musical universe they've built, Perennial is the sound of a band on the edge of their 20th anniversary and still finding bold new ways to sound like (and challenge) themselves. The album's resulting 11 songs, four of them instrumental, are in the classic Woods mode - shimmering, familiar, fractionally unsettling - but with the half-invisible infinity boxes of Earl's loops burbling beneath each like a mysterious underground source.

Review: Jonathan Wilson's new album Eat the Worm is, he says, a series of songs that have been made in reaction to the production work that he does. It finds him breaking free of any conservatism and taking chances on songs that have come together over the last two years in his own Fivestar Studios in Topanga Canyon, California. Plenty of experimentation can be heard throughout as he channels influences like Jack Nitzsche and Todd Rundgren into 12 beautiful folk and Americana fusions that find him reaching new heights and paying homage to the 60s folk revival of Greenwich Village.

Review: If you've seen the South Park series on America's mass shooting epidemic 'Ten Dead', track two on Wilco's 13th studio album, will ring a familiar bell. In so far as protest songs go, it's not the most innovative, but the newsreader, matter of fact tone behind the lyrics, which literally count casualties from schoolyard and in-store massacres, really makes the normalisation of horrific violence clear. Enough to make you feel numb, thankfully Cousin is overall a far warmer, alluring affair. Wilco's output has also become more norm-y over the years, but drafting rebel production and songwriting icon Cate Le Bon to assist on this record has certainly paid off. While it's definitely not what you might call 'wildly out there', the result is a mesmerising meld of Americana, folk-rock, acoustic and rousing indie that doesn't stick to any straight lines.

Review: The latest album from Chicago rock legends Wilco leans deep into Americana and alt-country - detouring from the more in-betweeny sound that made them famous, yet also detourning a generic sound they've come to be known as part of. Made almost entirely of live takes, the LP was created with all six members of the band brought together for songwriting duties for the first time since 2011. Echoes of Bob Dylan, twang guitar, slide guitar on the stereo, and all manner of additional country music tropes reveal themselves on an album that slowly reveals itself to be much more than just the sum of its stylistic parts.

Review: Originally from way out West in Yukon, Konner Whitney has built up a presence on the outer edge of modern country by channeling the sound of Fred Neil, Harry Nilsson and other such heartworn travellers and folding in a subtle streak of punk rock. As well as his two solo albums for Maple Death in the past few years, Whitney has been touring extensively with a band who now form an intrinsic part of the project, and this live album captures them coming back to Montreal following an extensive European tour. It's the best scenario for a live gig - a set of players locked in unison and free to flow, coming home with something to show from their travels. As an introduction or an extended trip into Whitney's sound, this is a stellar LP which proves great, classic songwriting will never tire as an art form.

Review: Jamie Webster's 10 For The People perfectly encapsulates the Liverpool singer-songwriter's heartfelt narratives and soulful melodies. Released in 2021, the album is a poignant exploration of working-class tales and social commentary, blending folk and rock influences. Known for his association with football culture, Webster's tracks like 'This Place' and 'Living for Yesterday' resonate with authenticity meaning that 10 For The People not only showcases the artist's lyrical prowess but also solidifies his place as a voice for the people. His album is a sincere and evocative musical offering that speaks to the experiences and struggles of us all.

Review: Waxahatchee is emerging, butterfly like, from a cocoon that has kept her safe for most of her career. There was nothing ugly or hidden about Katie Crutchfield's older output. But it was intimate, quiet, thoughtful, vulnerable and, at times, almost a little nervous. At least some of those adjectives became irrelevant with the last LP, Saint Cloud, and now she follows up that ten-foot-tall 2020 triumph with Tigers Blood, continuing in a similar vein. Having significantly increased the size of her audience with the preceding, infinitely rousing record, Crutchfield simultaneously looks to please those newcomers and win even more over here. The tracks are similarly open armed, proud and accessible, but the razor sharp songwriting - dealing with everything from trying to stay still without being bored, to self doubt - has lost none of its impact, and the instrumental arrangements have arguably never been stronger.

Review: The Cuckoo Storm might never have been, were it not for a social media post Adrian Crowley wrote on a wintry late-night walk in a quiet neighbourhood of Dublin during lockdown. Struck by Waterson's previous album Death Had Quicker Wings Than Love (co-written with David A Jaycock), Crowley wanted to mark the moment, and so pressed 'send' into the ether with no way of knowing what would follow. Drawn to his voice and seeing a kindred spirit in his poetic lyrics, Waterson was touched by his message and responded by asking if he would be interested in working together. His answer was a resounding 'yes.' Cuckoo Storm followed; a deeply compelling album and serendipitous collaboration comprising eleven beautifully crafted songs, sung by two matching voices that are a powerful match. Waterson's brilliantly distinctive voice is underpinned by Crowley's rich baritone, and together it's an intoxicating mix.

Review: The 1985 boxset is a comprehensive collection of The Waterboys' musical endeavors during that year. It features a diverse range of materials, including unreleased tracks, demos, outtakes, and live recordings. The set also includes a remastered version of their acclaimed album This Is The Sea. The boxset offers a glimpse into the band's creative process, with numerous alternate versions, song sketches, and covers. It also showcases the band's eclectic musical influences, ranging from traditional Irish folk to experimental rock. Despite its length, the boxset is a cohesive and engaging listen. The remastered This Is The Sea is a highlight, with Tom Verlaine's guitar playing adding a new dimension to the classic album. Other standout tracks include the previously unreleased instrumental 'Meridian West' and a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Sweetheart Like You.' Overall, the 1985 boxset is a valuable addition to the collection of any Waterboys fan. It provides a comprehensive overview of the band's creative output during a particularly fertile period. The boxset also offers insights into the band's musical influences and their commitment to their craft.

Review: Seeing properly, well done reissues of classic material like 'This Is the Sea' has us proud to be in the business of selling vinyl. One of the most critically acclaimed albums of 1985, this became the highest selling and most enjoyed Waterboys albums in their storied career. Thanks in large part to the internationally successful song and heavily MTV rotated songs in 'Whole Of The Moon'. Singer and songwriter Mike Scott, was an all-time creative high when he wrote this album. The song even received an Ivor Novello Award six years after being written in 1991. Each song on this album took on a life of their own and most are featured on many of their best of compilations. Tracks like 'Bang the Drum' and 'This is the Sea' and 'The Pan Within' are dearly beloved by fans of the band. 'Old England' and 'Spirit' are great examples of the folk and pop blend the band perfected. 2025 will be the 40th anniversary of the album. Do not miss out on getting a copy of what Rolling Stone magazine reviewed as "...Spellbinding..."

Review: In the bleakest of midwinters M. Ward's re-reading of Billie Halliday's 1958 album, Lady In Satin, wears poignancy on its sleeve, teaching us things can be beautiful again, even if they seem broken. By the time she made the record, Halliday had damaged her voice through alcohol and drug abuse, but her efforts were still mesmerising (albeit somewhat divisive). Now, more than 50 years on, a man with a larynx at the softer end of the spectrum takes on that playlist, reordering and rethinking in the process.

Save for 'The End of a Love Affair' all the parts of Halliday's masterpiece are here, but they sound resolutely different. Not least far quieter. Passion runs throughout, indicative of Ward's deep love for the source material and the emotional quality that pervades all his work. Instrumentally, it's no less committed, throwing all manner of unusual chord progressions and riffs our way via irregular tuning techniques. A stunning record that's testament to coverer and covered alike.

This firth studio long player was proceed by stadium sized singalong rock song 'I Don't Live Here Anymore' and follows it up with music that celebrates life. Bandleader Adam Granduciel is in fine form with daydreaming verses and soul-stirring choruses that are never less than epic. There are a wealth of thrills to be had here for fans old and new and the most common line about the records is that the Philadelphia band sound more like themselves than ever.

Review: Vic Mars spent many years in Nagoya, Japan, and it shows in the delicate beauty of his compositions. Fusing understated elegance with the lilting folk traditions of the British Isles, his music is equal parts pastoral and ethereal. Following plenty of previous appearances on boutique London label Clay Pipe, he returns with "Inner Roads & Outer Paths", a thoroughly calming sojourn through fingerpicked guitar refrains, plaintive piano and plenty more instrumentation besides. There's a subtle tint of processing that lends an otherworldly edge to the ambience Mars is imparting - a truly soul-nourishing departure from the intensity of the modern age.

Review: Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, of Cramps fame, team up to deliver Leather Jackets and Diesel Smoke, a whopping 50-track compilation that documents their utmost personal favourite rock recordings, in the micro-veins of acid folk, rockabilly and psychobilly. We'll doff and eat our hats if both said punk legends' rising signs aren't Scorpio. Amounting to a contemporaneous account of the music that The Cramps heard and loved during their rise to notoriety, not to mention the lesser-known music that would've graced the halls of New York's CBGB club, of which they were favourite performers.

In the past they have done some mega well loved Alternative Funk compilations which got the label off to a fine start and now they dig into an array of cult cassette releases to bring us treasure from Audiologie N-4 - The Independant Psychedelic Trip and Audiologie 5 et 6 - Ethniques Urbaines. This is music from the avant-garde and post punk scenes that draws on wave, spoken word, dark dub and industrial for its eerie yet alluring charms, all with a real edge. Ethnic, idiosyncratic and psyched out, this is another great overview.

Review: Powerful grooves from Mood Mosaic's latest series; most of the work here originates from the 70s, and a lot from those great years of the UK and US scene where it also seemed like there was plenty of folk in the music to boot. A few of these cuts are downright acid, and all are filled with great instrumentation; an approach that's a nice change from some of the more familiar Brit and US manners of the same generation. Titles include, among others: Nirvana's 'Nova Sketch', Fifty Foot Hose's 'Rose', Pyranha's 'Clepsydre', Kaleidoscope's 'Keep Your Mind Open', and more.

Review: Ghost Riders has been dubbed Efficient Space's latest narrative compilation, putting together 17 folk, Americana and psych-blues rarities to tell a Jarmuschian tale of heartache and loss. Releasing select songs from near-forgotten names like The Tempters, Dennis Harte and The Newports, the songs on this compilation seem to tell a tale of teary-eyed, shattered rock n' roll dreams - exclusively recalling the work of artists who, in the label's own words, were buoyed by grandiose dreams shortly before life got in the way. Recalling desolate filmic scenes like those found in Mystery Train or The Afterlight, we've got a distinct portrait of a depressed American midwest here.

Review: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, and Conway Twitty. If you can think of many country stars who don't feature on Country Collected then we're all ears. A real celebration of the genre, one look at what's been compiled should be enough to seal the deal. More than 30 tracks are listed, and while many are from undisputed greats, there are more than a few names some will be introduced to for the first time. Brewer & Shipley, perhaps, whose 1971 single 'One Toke Over The Line' brings elements of folk and pop into the sound, honkey tonk and Western maestro Lefty Frizzell, or the rhythm & blues hued Vince Gill.

Review: Iron Mountain continue to pick unexpected narrative threads from the vast canyons of country music history with this natural companion to their acclaimed Hillbillies In Hell series. The over-arching theme is one of Nashville television from the mid-50s to the mid-70s, when country music was dominating on every channel and you could veer from Porter Wagoner's surreal hick styles to Dolly Parton depicting the grim experience of an asylum, all cast in that distinctive country twang. This collection draws on some treasured legends and cult figures alike, all singing strange and sinister tales from the curious corners of Nashville's's proudest export.
