Review: Sturdy electro thumpery from Konery TMI, served up in five portions across what will surely prove a highly delectable EP for fans of the genre. Opening track 'Nauhuri' and 'Automaa' are both full of grace and gorgeous, effortless glide, while 'Lumivyory' alters the mood somewhat to get down and dirty with some thoroughly filthy acid squelch filth. 'Polaaritahti' takes its cue from the more minimal 80s sounds of Egyptian Lover or Hashim, before we draw to a close with the more serene and soothing 'Mustikka'.

Review: Cedric Dewkowski and Felix Reifenberg have long been associated with Frankfurt collective Hardworksoftdrink, with the pair's 2017 collaborative full-length L'Album still the only LP that the label has released to date. Typically, the artistic imprint has not offered up much information about Dedicated to Uwe, their latest joint 12". Regardless, it's well worth a listen thanks to the pair's love of far-sighted synth sounds and firm grasp of mood and melody. A-side 'Herzogen' is particularly enjoyable, with the duo peppering a gentle electro rhythm with sun-bright keyboard stabs, squelchy acid bass, starry chords and cheerful melodies. There's a similar blend of sounds at play on flipside 'Vondekloties', which reminded us a little of the colourful, retro-futurist IDM of Birmingham-based synthesizer fetishists Plone.

Chiefly, that is a love of 90's dance anthems, which was rekindled in her during downtime during the pandemic. Released via her own Gudu Records, 'I Go' is a catchy, singable bit of throwback dance-pop with her own vocals front and centre. Review: Anyone who has had even half an eye on the electro scene over the past decade will already be familiar with Emile Facey aka Plant43's unique sound, mixing an uncompromising approach to off kilter rhythms and machine-led funk with an emotive and powerful use of melody. This trio of ultra fresh tracks were penned for recent live shows in The Hague and Berlin and are brimming with the energy and excitement Facey felt on his return to the live circuit. 'Remote Signals' is led by a booming kick drum heavy enough to command any audience with Facey weaving ever more complex webs of melody around it. 'Searching The Skies' builds a mysterious atmosphere based around a call and response between characterful melodic elements while 'Constantly Morphing Entity' closes the EP with a flourish of forward moving beats and an SH101 bass line designed to move any dancefloor.

Review: Russian label Samizdat follows up its notable first release with a second 12", this time from Genning. It is classy and sophisticated outing all the way with this one as opener 'Stair To The Sky's Rooftop' soon sets you off on a trip to the stars with its slick rhythms and glistening celestial chords. 'Window To The Dub' follows more of a tech house template with loopy drums and bass that rumble up and down and 'Summer Lighting' then zones you out on some lovely pads and frictionless drums. Last off all is 'Mystic Lakes' which takes off on balmy pads and plump, cuddly but dynamic drums.

Review: It's time to clock up more Air Miles here as the small but well-formed label invites Supreems for another excursion into emotional yet robust breakbeats. 'Being' floats above the dancefloor on perfect frictionless drum loops that lurch to and fro and 'Touch' is a deep space trip with pensive cosmic pads and delightfully delicate but dynamic breaks. Review: Plant43 is the alias of Emile Facey, one of electro's most tireless innovators. He has a vast discography that never fails to prove he can speak through his machines more ably than just about anyone in the game, and certainly within the genre. Luminous Machines comes on his own label and is an album, his eighth in all, of cinematic and futuristic jams written before a gig at Tresor in April this year. 'Haunting The Depths' has an icy minimalism to it, with crisp drums and snappy hits all underpinned by textured bass. The title cut is a restless affair that pings about the stereo field with squiggling lines and loopy breaks and 'Fixed Point Rotation' has a more dark and menacing feel. These are just some of the highlights of another standout collection.

Review: Romanian electro agent Andrew Red Hand has been spotted delivering the heat to respected outposts like M>O>S, Detroit Underground and Chiwax, and now he's setting off with Rotterdam Electronix for a night drive through future cityscapes. It's electro through and through, driven by snappy 808 beats and analogue monosynths, but there's something particularly charming about the minimal wave quality to Red Hand's sound. That contrasts with The Exaltics, who delivers a gutsy re-version of 'In The Cemetery' which will keep you up at night for all the right reasons.

Review: Canadian electro stalwart Sneak-Thief has been off the radar for some ten years or so, but now he's back with the brilliantly titled Under The Synthfluence EP on Mondo Phase Rec. If you ever enjoyed Sneak-Thief in the past you'll be more than satisfied here as he leans in on that potent blend of EBM, Italo and machine funk with plenty of vocoder and nasty, throbbing baselines. 'All Let Go (dub)' is an unbridled party monster, while 'Der Herzenbrescher' has a smouldering, bombastic synth-pop feel which you'll be hard-pressed to resist. If you thirst for that turn-of-the-millennium electro sound, you'll be very happy with this record.

Review: The fourth record from the French electro label Perfusion. So far, each release features multiple artists showcasing their own brand of the next generation electro. Nite Fleit's 'Off Radar' is an audio attack on your senses, a sometimes abrasive, crunchy, raw, heavy bass stormer is not for the faint of heart. Swooh's 'The Streets' also has an over-arching sci-fi sound to it revelling in the history of electro. For the second side, High Fidelity's 'Say My Name' adds a rave-punk attitude to the mixture of electroclash, gabber and techno. The EP rounds out with a breakcore romp with Juicy Selekta's 'Stackin' Up!' that features some hip-hop samples. If electro-shock was a genre, you'd point people to this track. Intense.

Review: LOIF does a fine job of exploring a wide range of genres on this new EP for fast-rising Aussie label Animalia. Elements of techno, electro, bass, breaks and psychedelia are all melted together in the murky underwater world of this Melbourne producer. His tunes are a stylish mix of grooves that make you move and sonic details that intrigue as they drift by - they have the quality of alien life forms or bacteria that glow and scuttle about. Sometimes a weird vocals sample bleeds into ear short, at others it's purely abstract techno rhythms. Either way, this is fresh.

Review: Three and a half years have passed since Jasen Loveland and Patrick Russell debuted their Pervocet project on Interdimensional Transmissions' ongoing Acid Series. This belated follow-up promises more "psychedelic music used to induce moderate to severe psychosis" (as their brief bio puts it). They set their stall out with 'Neighbor', a sparse and punchy acid-electro workout where raw, razor-sharp TB-303 motifs and vocoder vocal snippets catch the ear, before opting for a more relaxed - but no less psychedelic - acid-electro flex on the faintly foreboding 'Rawlo'. Loveland and Russell flip the script on 'L0V3 S1R3N', peppering a bouncy acid house-goes-techno beat with sweat-soaked percussion filled and hard-wired acid lines, while 'Phasy Suzan' is a deep, effects-laden, mind-mangling slab of expertly hallucinatory, mid-tempo excellence.

Review: Zodiak Commune has become a tried and true outpost for edgy electro in recent times, and they've been incubating the talent of Dima Gastroler across a run of releases in 2024. The run of form continues as Gastroler locks in with 'Zero Tolerance', an icy blast of machine funk with strafing synths in the classic electro style. There's similar movement sweeping across 'REConnection', albeit with more pronounced acidity in the lead lines. 'Instinct' keeps the pressure up with the dirtiest of basslines and razor sharp beats, and then a more melodic tint creeps into EP closer 'Agnetic Storm' to end the record on a more sombre note.

Review: FXHE maintain their monthly heat emission for 2012, with label boss Omar S displaying all aspects of his production prowess (as well as skill for a humorous track titles) across four productions - one of which features the button bashing assistance of one Patrik Sjeren. There's something icily brilliant about the restrained "Income Tax Refund Dance" melding a dark piano riff with snapping 808 kicks and rippling lo fi rhythms which only further justifies the title of Omar S's killer 2011 LP. It's complemented by the far rowdier box jam "The White Castle Song" which jackhammers a simple yet highly flammable key riff over low rent percussion for FXHE's most potent ode to the perfect warehouse moment since the all conquering "Here's Your Trance..." Given the lack of additional info, we presume the Patrik Sjeren that produces the B Side "Untitled" track is the same Patrik Sjeren that released in the mid 90s under a multiplicity of aliases, and his contribution is every bit as incendiary as the track preceding it, whilst "3c 273" sees Omar S slip into pensive utopian electro mode with aplomb.

Review: We've been digging in our warehouse and found some classic electro from the prolific Boris Divider on the superb Satamile Records. This EP was released almost 20 years ago but you couldn't tell - the electro contained within it is as sharp as a knife and relevant as a selfie. 'Clone Factory' kicks off with lashings of metallic snares and jagged rhythms, 'Robot Skin' brings some high-speed cyborg funk and 'Digital Mind' then cruises through the cosmos on coruscated low ends. Review: Serge Geyzel debuts on Mechatronica with a killer collection of hypnotic electro, twisted acid lines, futuristic breaks and gut-wrenching machinefunk. Prioritizing the low end before anything else - and letting any further high end strokes spit through the top end like hard-limited overflows of dry ice - the likes of 'Ready?' and 'Sag' lift all embargos on the more involuntary-movement-inducing aspects of the electro sound, importing a huge sense of weight sure to rattle tweeters and bins alike. Luschn steps up for the first EP and sets a high standard with it from the off. Review: Way back in 1998, New York techno scene stalwart John Selway opened his Zoids Volume 2 EP with a quirky chunk of razor-sharp, acid-fired electro called 'Millennium Sound'. On the eve of its 25th birthday, Selway has decided to get the track remixed by some serious electro talents. Keith Tenniswood kicks things off as Radioactive Man, offering a fiendishly sub0heavy, alien-sounding electro rub that's guaranteed to put extra pressure on bassbins and sub cabinets, before Selway himself re-frames the cut as a moody, foreboding chunk of sci-fi electro excellence. Over on the flip, Sync 24 delivers a more percussively intense and weighty dark electro roller, while Transparent Sound joins the dots between classic 80s electro and the cybernetic moodiness of Selway's 1998 mix.

Review: The small but already well-formed Flo label out of France welcomes two homebodies in Janet and Miroloja to come together on this sublime two tracker. It is a heady mix of techno styles starting with the adventure that is 'Comex'. This one rides on snappy drums and snare petters, with acid lines gurgling away up top next to twitchy stabs that keep the vibes alive. 'Yaw' takes a different approach - it's a more fair-sighted and introspective affair with balmy pads circling around the smooth grooves. Two timeless grooves for different moments in the night.

Review: For those too young to remember the days of glitch-house and electro-house at the turn of the noughties (think Herve, Switch, Claude Vonstroke etc), Fake Blood was one of the true masters of the style. He released a swathe of big records for Cheap Thrills and others, with the two tracks collected here - both of which date from 2009 - being the biggest. A-side 'I Think I Like It' is a superb example of the style, with the producer expertly cutting up a pleasingly silly and over-the-top disco-pop number and turning it into sweat-soaked, hands-aloft gold. 'Mars', meanwhile, gains its dancefloor power from a frankly filthy, mind-altering bassline-turned-lead-line, around which crispy drums, breakbeats and Mylo-esque synth stabs make their presence felt.
