Amit - "Fatty Batty" (Danny Scrilla remix) (4:45)
Danny Scrilla - "Lighter" (4:23)
Review: When it comes to deep dubby halftime, few labels are as reliable, forward-thinking or exciting as Amit's Amar. Here we find the label boss giving Scrilla the keys to last summer's hummer "Fatty Batty". Adding more melodic layers and cool double-ups on the kicks, Danny's turned in the perfect remix that pays respect to the original while taking it further into pastures unknown. Flip for "Lighter", a straight up dubwise joint with a kick so steady, reliable and dependable it could give you a reference for a mortgage. Serious.

So Lonely (12")
Cat: EXIT 028. Rel: 14 Nov 11
So Lonely (original)
So Lonely (Morgan Zarate remix)
So Lonely (Consequence remix)
So Lonely (acappella)
Review: A considered highlight of recent Autonomic podcasts, D Bridge finally releases "So Lonely", a track notable for some heart wrenching vocals from the Exit Records boss himself. If the fragile and stripped down nature of the original is not for you (and the feline growls that intermittently appear throughout seem an odd accompaniment) then the commissioned remixes will certainly find favour; not least the effort from Hyperdub's Morgan Zarate which imbues proceedings with some shimmering future funk. Exit regular Consequence opts for the more familiar spacious D&B steppah vibe, flushing the nether regions of the crisp, electrofied 808 programming with plenty of menacing industrial atmosphere.

Rendezvous
Decayed
Review: Two certified highlights of Exit Records' Mosaic compilation; D Bridge's "Rendezvous" and "Decayed" are finally pressed up loud on vinyl for this strictly limited white label issue! The tracks splays an introspective synth lead (that incidentally sounds like a smacked out take on that Bruce Hornsby 80s hit) across a bed of warm hypnagogic textures and a lolloping half time rhythm of industrial drums. On the flip, "Decayed" unfolds from the dense 4/4 thud into a creeped out epic, sitting as far away from drum & bass origins as D Bridge can get. All sub bass expanses tinged with menace and snatches of metallic 808s scuttling around in a unique rhythmic fashion, it makes for an entirely claustrophobic experience.

Rockin Da Nation (feat Idren Natural)
Addis Abeba
Review: After a strong debut year that saw no less than five heavyweight plates, Osiris Music's low key vinyl only offshoot Lion Charge return with their first transmission of 2014. Five man Cesena crew D Operation Drop are handling proceedings this time and rep Italy hard when it comes to the dubwise sound. Idren Natural lends trad style uptown stepper "Rockin Da Nation" some added rootsical vibes with his vocal contribution, whilst "Addis Abeba" is a punchier affair that will get plenty of rewinds from the dubstep selectors out there.

Sufferah
Review: Previously spotted "Rockin Da Nation" on Lion Charge only two releases ago, Italian bass collective D Operation Drop return to the highly sort-after vinyl-only imprint with two more timeless dub documents... As the title suggests, "Body Rock" is an all-out physical flavour, all percussion and a well-bodied dance dynamic. "Sufferah", meanwhile, taps deeper into the dub psyche with a resonant, relentless walking bassline, big reverb splashes and vague, vapour-like melodica lines. Strictly limited to 100 copies and never to be repressed, this won't be around for long.

Common Rules (4:50)
Review: Sweet summer dub direct from Italy, D Operation Drop have always flirted with the more organic sound palettes but this is a whole new level. Big horns and authentic dynamics and arrangements; you really don't get much more rootsy than this... "Trident" is all about the plucked guitar line and star-gazing trumpet, "Common Rules" is more about the whole bass groove that leans heavily into the future supported by a select amount of hazy instruments. Essential for any daytime outdoor sets you have this summer.

D-Operation Drop & Geode - "Stronghold" (Perverse remix)
Review: With a tried and tested pedigree on labels such as Nomad, Tuba, Gamma Audio and Bacon Dubs, Italian substers D Operation Drop jump aboard emerging imprint Subaltern and bring Geode along for the ride. The results are unnervingly stark and slick. First up "Stronghold": rhythm-heavy, it builds itself around a hypnotic hook that ricochets back and forth with mesmerising effect. "Angkor" is a more percussive workout that enjoys layers of detailed drum work tightly woven with a dark funk DNA. For added grit jump on Perverse's remix where a guttural bassline lays in wait, ready to chew all suspecting dancefloors' faces off.

Eyes Red (3:49)
Wire Tap (3:34)
Man Sees Aliens (4:38)
Review: Although Dalek One has been exterminating dancefloors (sorry) for some time, it was only last summer that the deep dubstep don made his long-awaited vinyl debut. Here he keeps up the pressure via a weighty EP on Encrypted Audio. Check first the mangled, electronically scrambled rap vocals and sci-fi riddims of "Eyes Red", before getting your ears around the elongated sub-bass tones, tribal percussion and paranoid electronics of "Wire Tap". If that's not enough to set the pulse racing - and it should be - we'd recommend whacking on the crackling, sub-heavy roller that is time-travelling dancefloor treat "Man Sees Alien". In summary: pleasingly far-out.

Cryosphere (3:29)
Review: Danny Scrilla tells two sides to one beautiful sonic story for the debut release on brand new underground bass imprint Library. The acid-heavy "Tell Dem" is the slow, steady and ultimately menacing march of the self-aware robots who will inevitably take over the planet. The beatless, synth-charmed "Cryosphere" soundtracks the aftermath as we're all preserved in freezers for future organ harvesting. A very serious label launch right here; get to know.

All Thumbs (4:23)

BFG900 (3:30)
Review: There's no one iller than Danny Scrilla... Fresh from his debut album and Sam Binga collab on Cosmic Bridge, the German spell-binder makes his debut on Amit's AMAR with four bendy beat fusions. "All Thumbs" is the sound of melting music boxes flickering and burning in 808 flames, "Maelstrom" takes us much deeper into Danny's tubular bass universe and "Quasar" folds up a piece of jazz into tiny pieces before throwing it up into the air and letting it unfold like some type of dreamy parachute. Finally we climax with the swaggering data-drenched swagger jam "BFG900", a freaky world where Roald Dahl's much loved giant and the Terminator make great bedfellows.

The Lick
Be Myself
Review: Cementing their rep as the busiest cats in electronic music, Modeselektor maintain the 50 Weapons pressure with a quartet of drops from Dark Sky. There have been waves of expectation surrounding the London based trio since they surfaced on the excellent Pictures Music label last year, and the Radius EP shows they can match the hype with aplomb. "Speeding Blue" is vintage 50 Weapons material, devious chords progressing at 45 degrees around expertly layered drum kicks, dropping into heavenly washes at all the right moments. Staying true to its title "Neon" essentially works as a battle of wits between luminescent melodics and a tightly wound marriage of keys, shuffling hi-hats and insistent bass dips whilst fractured shards of vocals add a yearning quality. On the flip "The Lick" continues this interplay between dark and light elements with basement level sub bass contrasting with the glacial vocal coos that flicker beneath a tinned can of tropical fruit 808 flex - that bassline! "Be Myself" rounds off proceedings with what is best described as The Neptunes arising on Swamp81. Pure class.

Enchanted (5:29)
Lift Off (5:27)
Review: Nothing to cry about here: Dark Tantrums returns with something extra special. Having previously filled our crates by way of Get Darker, Deep Medi and Nebula, he now unveils his own imprint: Beyond Time. The name fits as each one of these carefully selected dubs trounces temporal or crass trend-based limitations: "Realisation" is king-sized machine funk, all molten steel and pneumatic drums, "Enchanted" plays the cosmic card with its foggy pads and ricochet snares while "Lift Off" takes you right back to the foundation with its unabashed jump-up energy. There's no messing around with this launch release. An on-point balance of pure, ageless dub for all heads and corners, launch releases don't get any better.

Review: Darkimh is an absolute monster and "Chain Smoker" is proof. Warped horns, scatty energy and a breakdown that will have you stewing in your own dark soul, is this doesn't have the floor screwing then nothing will. "Eclipse" packs more of an elegant punch with its flighty chimes and tightly wrapped kicks and sirens. Flip for crucial gothic remix by Malleus and a triumphantly trippy co-lab with fellow brain-warper Taiko. Pure innovation.

Abrasion (Suicideyear remix) (4:34)
Review: After singles for Lost Codes and Gobstopper, the mighty DarkO makes his way to Rinse FM's in-house label with the five-track Solace EP which features a remix from stateside producer Suicideyear. Perhaps the most explicit demonstration of DarkO's talent for attention grabbing, heart nagging melody yet, Solace is superb from start to finish though second track "Fuschia" stands out in particular. It's here that DarkO toys around with R'n'b vocal harmonies and channels some truly cavernous bass lines. Software artist Suicideyear brings his own rolling snare vibe to "Abstraction" for a fine remix to close out the EP.

Hallucinate (4:23)
Flabbergasted (5:03)
2C-1 (4:09)
Mosquito Bite (9:25)
Venom (4:07)
Review: Fresh from his #DontFreakOut mixtape, the Darqman returns with another cavalcade of fusions. "Hallucinate" says it all; crisp layers of synths twinkling and flexing over swaggering beats and groaning reese, it's all of rave's many nuances smelted down into a smoking 140 mould. "Flabbergasted" continues the theme with evocative synth lines that rise and rise like a delicately composed horror movie score while "2CI" pays respect to the hippy massive with a deeply trippy-borderline-paranoid spike-jam. Drawing to a close the south Londoner unleashes more poison with the frenetic, hornets-nest riffage of "Mosquito Bite" and the widescreen, jungle-referencing breakbeat anthemity of "Venom". Truly unique.

Orbit Dub (4:11)
Theory Dub (4:14)
Review: Since launching in 2014, Portland's ZamZam Sounds imprint has offered up a string of beautifully packaged seven-inch singles from a mixture of big hitters and rising stars from the global bass music scene. Their latest missive comes from Dayzero, a Japanese dubstep producer best known for his outings on Wheel & Deal, Sentry and, most recently, Vomitspit. The two tracks here are weighty, intergalactic and otherworldly, mixing dub style rhythms with the kind of angular, razor-sharp sub-bass motifs more often associated with dancefloor dubstep. Both cuts are quality, though it's rolling A-side "Orbit Dub" - all lolloping dub beats, wobble bass, metallic effects and paranoid aural textures - that really stands out.
