Dual envelope generator synthesiser module - 20HP wide
Notes: The Pingable Envelope Generator (PEG) from 4ms is a dual envelope generator whose envelope lengths are set by incoming clocks or "pings".

The PEG has full CV control of envelope shape, skew, and ping (clock) division/multiplication, as well as a plethora of triggering and cycling options (AD, AR, quantization, cycle), and a tap tempo button for each channel.

Scaling/shifting:
- Scale knob is an attenuating inverter for main envelope output (Maximum 0V to +10V non-inverted, and Minimum -10V to 0V inverted).
- Bi-polar button centers main envelope output around 0V (-5V to +5V output)
- "+5V ENV" jack is a non-scaling output that always produces a 0V to +5V envelope, regardless of Scale and Bi-polar settings
- "OR" jack outputs an analog OR of the two scaled envelope curves. This outputs the highest value from either envelope at any given moment, taking into account the Scale and Bi-polar controls.

Gate outputs:
- End-of-Rise (EOR) gate output goes high when envelope finishes a rise portion, and goes low when envelope begins a rise portion
- End-of-Fall (EOF) gate output goes high when envelope finishes a fall portion, and goes low when envelope begins a fall portion
- Jumper for each channel changes EOR output to a Half-Rise gate output. The Half-Rise jack goes high when 50% of the time of the rise portion has elapsed, and goes low after 50% of the time of the fall portion. Using the Skew parameter, this jack provides a variable phase gate output useful for quadrature effects and clock phase shifting and trigger delay effects. Factory setting is EOR for red channel, Half-Rise for blue channel.

Triggering/cycling:
- Cycle button for each channel forces envelope to self-cycle in sync with the ping clock (LFO mode). Button lights up when in cycle mode.
- "T" jack toggles the state of both channels' Cycle button when a gate is applied
- "QNT" jack for each channel triggers an envelope to start at the next quantized beat, with respect to the divided/multiplied ping clock. Holding a gate high on this jack causes the envelope to repeat.
- "Async" jack for each channel causes an envelope to output immediately (asynchronously). Holding a gate high results in an AR envelope (rise-sustain-fall). If cycle mode is enabled, the envelope will continue to cycle at this new phase with respect to the ping clock. Phase can be reset to being in sync with the ping clock by pressing the cycle button or applying a pulse to the QNT jack.

CV input jacks:
- CV control of Ping Div/Mult, Skew, and Curve using the CV jacks. Respective knobs set the center offset for the applied CV
- CV of 0-10V will modulate the parameter's full range However, a 0-5V CV will modulate the parameter within a very useful range.

Notes: The Quad Pingable LFO is a compact, playable four-channel tap-tempo, clock-syncable LFO with variable skew and reset.

The QPLFO is designed to be useful in small portable systems that require maximum functionality in minimal space, as well as large systems that need maximum modulation sources.

Controls and jacks:
- Tap tempo button ("Ping") for manually setting the tempo
- Ping jack sets tempo with an external clock (any complex signal can be used as a clock)
- On/mute button enables or mutes the output (latching button)
- Skew knob and CV jack control the waveshape by altering the ratio between rise and fall times
- At 0% Skew (0V of CV), the shape is a "plucky" near-expo curve
- At 1% Skew (just over 0V of CV), the shape is ramp-down
- At 50% Skew (about 5V of CV), the shape is a triangle
- At 100% Skew (about 10V of CV), the shape is ramp-up
- Skew knob provides offset to the incoming CV signal, so any range of CV is acceptable
- Reset jack restarts the LFO without changing the tempo (rising edge triggered)
- OUT jack outputs either a 0 to 10V waveshape, or a -5V to +5V waveshape (jumper selectable)
- LED flashes and dims to the signal on the OUT jack
- Tap tempo button flashes to the internal tap-tempo clock or to incoming pulses on the Ping jack
- On/Mute button lights up when channel is On

Advanced:
- Ping and Reset inputs use comparators, so any waveshape can be used for triggering (audio waves, complex LFOs, even the QPLFO itself!)
- Trim-pot on PCB allows for adjustment of comparator threshold value

- "Fire-on-unmute" jumper per channel:
- When this optional jumper is installed, pressing the On button to turn the channel on will reset the LFO.
- If the jumper is not installed (factory default), pressing On will unmute the LFO without resetting (LFO runs in the background when muted)

- Bipolar/Unipolar jumper:
- Setting jumper to Bipolar makes the outputs -5V to +5V
- Setting jumper to Unipolar makes the outputs 0V to +10V
- One jumper controls all four channels

- One-shot mode: Reset jack can be used to trigger a one-shot envelope if the external ping clock is stopped. See manual for detailed discussion

- Floating Reset mode: Holding a high gate on Reset jack allows the waveshape to run freely without automatically re-syncing to the ping clock. A bare cable plugged into the jack causes a high gate

- Connects to other modules using ribbon cables:
- Outputs can connect to the 4ms VCA Matrix, or the 4ms SISM, the Circuit Abbey Intermix or the Toppobrillo Mixiplexer
- Normalization of ping jacks can connect to the 4ms Quad Clock Distributor

Envelope generator module - 21 HP
Notes: The ADSR envelope from the Japanese 100m system is well-known for its percussivity and the enormous punch. ACL gives us three of them in one single Eurorack module, the Envelope X3.

Sometimes an envelope generator doesn't have to be function-ladden, but just reliable, solid and good. This is what ACL achieves with the Envelope X3 module. The technical quality originates in precision components, as used in measuring instruments for instance, in order to keep the parameters exact, always the same and to keep you happy.

Three identical, classic Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release envelopes are integrated; function-wise rather simple with a gate input and one positive and one inverted envelope output each. The gate inputs are normalized (1 -> 2 -and 1 -> 3; with input 1 as master) which minimizes the amount of patch cords. Normalizations can be disrupted by patching a cable.

Each envelope generator has a time range switch with two positions to select between short and long envelope times.

The LEDs for visualisation were omitted to keep the power consumption low.

4 channel audio signal mixer - 12HP
Notes: The ACL Gate Mixer is a 4 channel Audio signal mixer, consisting two 2-in-1 mixers (1+2 & 3+4), whose outputs are summed together to the master output. All 4 channels can be switched ON/OFF via switches and/or gate or even CV signals.

Furthermore there is an AUX-input, which is routed unity gain (no attenuator) to the SUM. The logic of switching the signals on and off can be negated (inverted), meaning a high control signal could switch the signal on (gate=on) - or the opposite behaviour; a high control signal could switch the signal off (gate=mute).

So you can always switch the channels on and off using the switch, by just flipping the channel's state (on or off). Synth module for converting stereo material into M/S format - 10HP
Notes: The ACL M/S Matrix module is able to deconstruct a conventional stereo signal, consisting of a left and a right channel, into its mid and side signals. The other way round it can convert a M/S stereo signal to L/R stereo.

For that reason the module has four bi-directional sockets which carry the left, right, mid and side signals and are either inputs or outputs, depending on the mode of conversion.

When you play with the individual levels of left and right, classic panning happens. Something different happens with M/S: A change of the Side signal's level will change the stereo width while changing the Mid signal's amplitude will make the centre more or less present but the side signal will remain unchanged!

For instance turning up the S signal from zero to max will continuously convert a centre mono signal into a wide stereo signal.

The module offers individual level control for each stereo channel which can be controlled with potentiometers and voltages

Besides the aforementioned different compression of mid and side you might as well process stereophonic reverb and change the stereo width of the reverb tail.

High-quality dual linear VCA with mixing functionalities
Notes: Audiophile Circuits League VC Dual Amp contains two fully discrete voltage controllable amplifiers with linear characteristic. It is based on a new circuit design which delivers unheard clarity of sound. To this day there is no other VCA using this special technique!

The module offers a very low harmonic distortion in the whole linear gain range, no crossover distortion and no overshoots nor ringing. Furthermore, it has a very high dynamic range which provides a lot of headroom. The VCAs will amplify the input signal very accurately and it will sound crystal clear, without any coloration, distortion or bleed. Notes: The ACL VC Panning Amplifier is specially designed to process audio signals, dynamically positioning them in a stereo field. Model D-based complex envelope generator - dark edition
Notes: AJH Synth have had quite a few requests for a variant of MiniMod contour generator with Release added to the envelope so that it is full ADSR but still with the characteristics of the Model D - so this is what they have done!

The DH-ADSR is exactly the same circuit as the original Model D envelope and therefore features the same contour shape and retrigger behaviour, but with the addition of a release control. However, they have also added a pulse delay and pulse stretch circuit, along with a re-trigger facility (both of these can be switched out of circuit so that the envelope is a simple ADSR unit).

The addition of pulse stretching and retrigger makes it into an LFO module and it can perform in a similar way to the EMS Synthi A and VCS3 Trapezoid generator, with a variable delay between each trigger and a variable "on" time - however it can also have full ADSR envelope on each retrigger too!

Notable Features:

- PREDELAY - This control determines how long (up to 10 seconds) the start of the envelope is held off, after a gate is received. This ability to delay the onset of the envelope is especially useful when used in conjunction with a standard ADSR: With both envelopes receiving the gate simultaneously complex envelopes can be produced as the DH-ADSR only starts running through its stages after the standard ADSR has completed. Once their outputs are mixed together in a mixer a single evolving envelope with multiple stages is produced!

- Use of the bipolar mixer found in the MINIMOD CV MIX-OFFSET-VCA module can enhance this technique even further, with more precise control over the polarity/offset of the envelope mix possible. Using the VCA of this module could allow for external modulation over either/both of the signals. It goes on...

- HOLD - When in Del-Hold mode (switch down) the HOLD control determines the gate length applied to the envelope, and thus controlling its length/overall shape. When the switch is up, normal ADSR action is produced.

- RETRIG - In this mode the DH-ADSR becomes an LFO, which can mimic the "Trapezoid" function of the vintage EMS designs. HOLD controls the length of the trapezoid shape, and PREDELAY allows for adjustable gaps between each repeat of the shape produced.

Eurorack format dual envelope generator based on the original RA Moog design
Notes: Two independent Contour Envelope Generators in a single 12hp wide Eurorack module. These are very accurate replicas of the Model D contour generators, with identical circuitry and component values running on the correct +9.3V and -10v supply voltages of the original; so they exactly replicate the original envelope response along with all of it eccentricities. Extra features include manual trigger buttons and envelope status LED's.

The contour generators played a larger part in the sound of the Model D than many people realise. There are two factors that make them unique, firstly the exponential slope when is used in conjunction with the (near) linear slope of the original VCA which is responsible for the famous Model D "punch". Secondly, the re-trigger behaviour is quite unique, multiple retriggering increases the output level so that either the volume increases incrementally, or the filter opens incrementally with each extra key press.

AJH Synth have added independent Decay switches for each individual Contour Generator rather than the shared switch on the original synthesiser, these switches change the Contour response from AD (switch up) to ADSD mode (switch down).

Sample & Hold, Track & Hold, Gated Slew, Clock & Noise generator - black, 12HP
Notes: A real powerhouse module that takes up only 12 HP of rack space. It can generate random and pseudo random control voltages, staircase waveforms, deliberate aliasing of audio signals, portamento type effects, adjustable audio range noise and has many other uses too.

It can be switched between Sample & Hold or Track & Hold modes, and the unique "Restrict" control affects the way the hold output changes with respect to the current input level and previously held output level. With the control fully off the unit behaves just like any other S/H, but at fully clockwise the output is restricted to move by only a small amount after each new sample. The output will still have the same range as the input, but will need more hold commands to get there. This versatile Sample and Hold circuit was designed by Tony Allgood, and is built under licence from Oakley Sound.

The Sample Hold & Slew module also includes a very well featured Slew generator, which includes a Gated Slew function. It can be used independently or chained with the S&H module. Slew mode can be switched between Linear or Exponential Slew types. There is a Gate input, so that the Slew on/off can be switched using an External CV (Gated Slew), and also the Slew control logic can be reversed by a toggle switch that doubles as a manual Slew on/off switch. In addition, it has slew up only, slew down only or slew up and down modes, which are selected with a three-way toggle switch. An indicator LED lights when Slew is active

There is also an inbuilt analogue Noise generator, which is normalised to the input of the Sample and Hold section, and there are both regular and clipped Noise outputs - the Clipped Noise is particularly useful with the sample and hold section, as it is weighted to produce higher random voltages. Both Noise outputs are fed through an internal "Noise Colour" control - at centre position it allows the noise through unfiltered, turning the control anti-clockwise introduces low pass filtering of the Noise, and rotating it clockwise introduces high pass filtering. The Noise source itself is based on an analogue band gap shunt regulator configured in avalanche mode, and it generates white noise with a gradual roll off above 8kHz. It is a little "grainier" in character than the noise from our MiniMod Glide & Noise module (which uses a reverse biased transistor as a noise source), so is a useful compliment to this module as it does not generate exactly the same sounding Noise

Lastly, it includes a wide range clock generator with a rate LED. The range is from one cycle every thirty seconds to around 2 kHz and the clock output is normalised to the Clock Input of the S&H section. It also has a Clock Out jack so that it can be externally patched to other Eurorack modules.

Analogue Oscillator:
The VCO is very analogue and uses discrete components and op-amps. One oscillator, yet still sounds big - using PWM and Sub Osc creates a full warm and deep sound.

Analogue Low Frequency Oscillator:
The LFO has triangle and square wave modulation signals.

Analogue Filter:
Treadstone uses a four pole 24bB per octave multimode filter. The filter is a re-issue of the classic SSM2044, as used in many classic synths such as the Korg Poly 6, Monopoly, Emulator, SP1200.

Hexpander is designed to be placed on top of Hexmix. Expanding Eurorack concept to 6u, allows every channel to be aligned as in traditional tabletop mixers.

Auxiliar sends:
For every channel you have three auxiliar sends. One pot will measure the amount of signal sent to each of them.

Every auxiliar send has a volume pot, that will measure the level of the signal sent. There are two jacks available so it is possible to send the signal both pre or post fader/EQ at the same time, allowing to patch externally depending if its desired to have the original signal, or the signal after being EQ'ed on the effect.

Returns are stereo, having a switch to select if the signal is coming from synth or line level. Like this, levels can be set, for example, either for a guitar pedal or a FX module at synth level.

Monitor section:

Dual complex function generator
Notes: The Rampage is Befaco's approach to an old invention: the Serge/Buchla ramp generator.

Befaco took the idea of a "patch programmable" function generator/processor, put two units in the same module and expanded them with new functions and ways to combine them: Slope detectors, analogue logic functions and evolved outputs.

The module is built around two voltage controlled integrators. Integrators (also known as Lag Processors or Slew limiters) allow you to process your voltages, converting sharp square waves in ramp-like waveforms.

CV controlled spring reverb - 8HP
Notes: Electronically generated audio will usually sound starkly different to acoustically generated sound. This is more-often-than-not a desirable thing, but there are times when you might want to bring the "depth" of an acoustic environment back into your mix. The obvious difference between acoustic and synthesised sounds is that acoustic instruments have resonators, and exist in reverberant spaces. One way to add depth to an electronic sound is to somehow simulate the characteristics of a space, and mix this with the original signal.

Reverberation can be defined as the sum of all the reflections created from an initial sound source within a space, at a point within that space, over time.

To simulate this effect we can pass a sound through a spring with two transducers at either end. As the sound propagates it will cause the spring to expand and contract, creating a series of reflections that are picked up by the transducers (along with the original sound). This creates a simulation of reverberation with (in the case of spring of the reverb) a characteristic and classic colour.

FEATURES
The module has two audio inputs both of which can be CV or slider controlled:
- "IN1" is routed both to "DRY" mix and reverb tank input
- "IN2" Goes only to the reverb tank

The module also has 2 outputs:
- "WET" comes straight from reverb tank
- "MIX" is the mix of DRY signal and the output of reverb tank. It has CV control

It is possible to feedback the "WET" signal back into the module via "IN2" in either a straight feedback path or after passing through other modules before returning to "IN2".

With the "MIX" control we can control the amount of reverb and feedback in the mix while maintaining the presence of the original signal.

The module also features a high-pass filter at the input of the tank to control the colour of the reverberation and to tame saturation that may be created in the spring during feedback.

Finally there is a built-in VU meter connected to the "WET" output to visualise the level and saturation of the signal.

Complex 12-stage phase shifter with separate in- and outputs for all phaser stages
Notes: Module A-101-3 is a 12-stage phase shifter with vactrols as phase shifting elements. Vactrols are known for their smooth sound behaviour. In contrast to other phaser designs, the A-101-3 is much more flexible and offering a lot of new features not available from other phasers on the market. The main difference is that the Doepfer design offers access to each of the 12 input and output stages leading to a lot of new filters that cannot be obtained in other ways. Especially the free patchable feedback loops (yes, not only one feedback loop is possible) between each of the 12 stages, the separate phase shift control for the stages 1-6 and 7-12, and the 2 polarizers intended to control the feedback loops lead to completely new filter types (a polarizer is a circuit that is able to generate positive and negative amplifications in the range -1...0...+1 with -1 = inversion, 0 = full attenuation, +1 = unchanged signal, for details concerning the polarizer function please look at the A-133 VC Polarizer or A-138c Polarizing Mixer module).

Internally, the module is made of 2 independent 6 stage phase shifters (1-6 reps. 7-12) with separate audio inputs (with attenuators), audio outputs (with mix control), and phase shift control units. The phase shift control units feature both manual and voltage-controlled phase shifting (e.g. from a LFO, ADSR, Random Voltage, Theremin CV, Foot Controller CV ...). For each sub-module a phase shift display (LED) is available. The LED shows the illumination state of the 6 vactrols of the sub-module in question as it is connected in series with the internal vactrol LEDs.

Each of the 12 phase shift states is equipped with an audio output socket and feedback input socket to obtain full flexibility to create a multitude of different filters. The audio input signal and the output signals of stage 6 resp. stage 12 are mixed with 2 manual controls to obtain effects at two audio outputs (for normal phase shifting effect this is 50% input signal and 50% phase shifted signal). The two submodules are internally connected via normalized sockets so that two 6 stage phase shifters can be obtained without external patches. Audio output of stage 6 is normalized to audio input of stage 7 and CV input 1-6 is normalized to CV input 7-12. But due to the open structure of the module even other stages than stage 6 and stage 12 can be used as outputs to generate different sounds (simply patch the desired stage output to the normalized mix input socket).

Voltage controlled filter with 36 filter types - 26HP
Notes: This module contains 26 very different filter types which can be combined each after the other. You can morph or switch between those filter chains manually, with control voltage or with a clock signal. 15 filter types are known from the Oberheim Matrix 12 and there additional 21 new filter types.

The filters are organized in two groups of 18 filters each. The transition between different filter types within one group can be soft (morphing) or hard (switching).

The transition between the different filter types is controlled by two parameters: Filter Step (marked Step at the front panel) and Morphing Time (marked Morph at the front panel). For both parameters manual control, one CV input with attenuator and one CV input without attenuator are available.

The 36 filter types can be arranged in filter chains (resp. filter sequencer or filter orders) so that this sequence of filters is passed through while the control voltage changes from 0V to +5V. Each chain consists of 32 steps. 64 filter chains can be programmed by the user and stored in the non-volatile memory of the module.

Of course, the standard VCF controls are available: cut-off frequency and resonance. Both are voltage controllable. For the filters of the first group (1-18) self-oscillation is possible, the filters of the second group (19-36) do not feature self-oscillation.

The filter design is 100% analogue (CEM filter chip). Only the morphing control and memory managing is carried out by a microcontroller.

Thru Zero VCO - uses quadrature trapezoid as the fundamental waveform
Notes: A-110-6 is a Trapezoid Thru Zero Quadrature VCO. The module is based on an idea by Donald Tillman from 2003 but has been revised for the use of modern electronic circuits (no OTAs/CA3280). Because of its unique trapezoid core it's totally different compared to other VCOs. But the trapezoid core is not the only specialty: it is also a quadrature VCO and features linear thru zero frequency modulation.

The term "quadrature" means in this connection that the oscillator outputs two trapezoid waves with 90 degrees phase shift. The same as sine and cosine of a standard quadrature oscillator like the A-110-4 or A-143-9. These waveforms are called TRASIN (trapezoid sine) and TRACOS (trapezoid cosine).

The term "Thru-Zero" means that even "negative" frequencies are generated. But this a bit a misleading term as negative frequencies do not really exist. "Negative" means in this connection simply that the TRASIN/TRACOS waves will stop when the linear control voltage reaches 0V and continue with the opposite directions as the linear control voltage becomes negative and vice versa.

The module has two control sections: linear and a exponential. The exponential section consists of the XTune control, the 1V/Oct input and the XFM input with the corresponding attenuator XFM. The exponential control voltage is the sum of these three voltages. The linear section consists of the LFrq control and the LFM input with the corresponding attenuator LFM. The linear control voltage is the sum of these two voltages. A dual colour LED is used to display the polarity of the linear control voltage. The pitch of all outputs is determined by the control voltages of both sections. The linear section is used to control the pitch in a linear manner. When the LFrq control (LFrq means Linear Frequency Control) is fully CW the module works like a normal VCO and the LED lights red. The pitch is then controlled by the exponential section with the manual Tune control XTune and the exponential frequency control inputs 1V/Oct and XFM. 1V/Oct is used to control the pitch by a 1V/Oct CV source (e.g. sequencer or Midi/USB-to-CV interface). XFM is used to apply an exponential frequency modulation with adjustable depth (e.g. from an LFO or another VCO). As the LFrq control is turned counter-clockwise starting from the fully CW position the frequency is lowered in a linear manner until the TRASIN/TRACOS waves (nearly) stop at the centre position of LFrq (provided that no LFM signal is present). As the LFrq control is moved from the centre towards the CCW position the waves start again but into reverse direction and the LED turns yellow. When the fully CCW position of LFrq is reached the module works again like a normal VCO. But much more exciting is the usage of the LFM input to modify the linear control voltage by an external control voltage (typically another VCO). Linear modulation by another oscillator using the thru zero feature in combination with the trapezoid waveforms generates audio spectra than cannot be obtained from any other oscillator without the thru zero function. The reason is that a "normal" VCO will simply stop as the linear control voltage becomes zero or negative. But a thru zero VCO will start again with "negative" frequencies as the linear control voltage becomes negative.

Other waveforms like triangle, sawtooth, rectangle and sine can be obtained from the TRASIN/TRACOS signals (triangle e.g. simply by subtracting TRISIN and TRICOS, SAWSIN and SAWCOS by switching the other waveforms). All five waveforms are available as quadrature pairs (i.e. with 90 degrees phase shift):

- Trapezoid (TRASIN + TRACOS)
- Triangle (TRISIN + TRICOS)
- Sinus (SIN + COS)
- Rectangle (RECSIN + RECCOS)
- Sawtooth (SAWSIN + SAWCOS)

By means of a toggle switch the frequency range can be selected between VCO (audio range) and LFO. In LFO range the frequencies are about 1/100 compared to VCO mode.

Technical note regarding linear FM: The LFM CV input is DC coupled. If the input is used for linear FM in audio range and the signal applied to this input has a DC offset it will cause a small pitch shift that depends upon the value of the DC voltage. Especially when a VCA is used to change dynamically the level of the modulation signal this may generate a pitch shift caused by the control voltage feedthrough of the VCA. The control voltage feedthrough adds a DC voltage at the output which depends upon the control voltage of the VCA. For this application VCAs with a very low CV feed though should be used or the signal output of the VCA should be AC coupled to the LFM input of the A-110-6 (e.g. by inserting a capacitor).

Notes: The successor of the good old A-111 High End oscillator is an utterly precise analogue VCO/LFO with an extremely big frequency range, immaculate tracking over at least ten octaves and nearly perfect waveforms. With linear and exponential FM, pulse width modulation, two simultaneous types of sync and attenuators on all CV inputs, the module is really well-appointed.

Not less than four frequency controls make tuning an ease:

- Switch for LFO or VCO range
- Octave rotary switch with six positions
- Fine tuning control (approximately one octave range)
- Coarse tune control (approximately one semitone range)

The oscillator has a frequency range of at least fifteen octaves (0.0001 - 40Hz in LFO mode, 0.5Hz - 20kHz in VCO mode) and has perfect Volt per octave tracking over at least ten octaves, typically in the range of 20Hz to 20kHz. Frequencies below 25Hz are visualized with a two-colour LED.

An 1V/octave input without attenuator is expanded by two scaleable FM inputs, one for linear and one for exponential frequency modulation. Using a jumper, you can decide whether the module obtains pitch CV via the internal bus.

The VCO has a triangle core from which sawtooth, pulse and sine are derived. The wave forms are almost perfect and sans glitches.

The pulse width can be set with a control from 0 to 100% and of course it can be modulated.

The A-111-2 features not only one but two inputs for oscillator synchronisation - one for hard and one for soft sync, which both differ in sound with the hard sync being more aggressive and richer in harmonics.

Sound source deriving four subharmonics from an incoming square wave signal - 26HP
Notes: Module A-113 is a new sound source that derives four so-called subharmonics (German: Subharmonische) from an incoming pulse signal. The term subharmonics was introduced by Oskar Sala in connection with his so-called Mixtur-Trautonium. A subharmonic means in this context a sawtooth wave (German: Kippschwinger) whose frequency is derived from a master frequency and the master frequency is an integer multiple in the range of 1...24 of the subharmonic - in other words: the master frequency is divided by an integer 1...24 to obtain the subharmonic.

The output waveform of a subharmonic is sawtooth (as also used in the original Trautonium) and not sine. The term subharmonics is somewhat misleading. The master frequency comes e.g. from an A-110 or A-111 to the frequency input of the A-113. The frequency dividers of the 4 subharmonics is adjusted with up/down buttons as displayed with two character LED displays. The subharmonics are available as single outputs and as mix output with adjustable levels for the subharmonics.

Two gate type control inputs enable to select between 4 different mixtures, i.e. 4 different settings of the frequency dividers. In the original Trautonium these are controlled by foot switches to switch between 3 mixtures while playing (the original Trautonium has only 3 mixtures available but with the 2 gate inputs of the A-113 four different settings can be addressed).

Additionally, the A-113 features a mixture memory with 50 presets. Each preset consists of 4 mixtures that can be selected with the gate inputs, each mixture contains the values of the 4 frequency dividers.

Analog sequencer for CVs & trigger/gates
Notes: The Doepfer A-155 has two CV rows, each with selectable voltage range, glide and sample & hold options. Three trigger rows and a one gate row. Logic inputs for clock, reset, start and stop. It's even possible to insert external signals per step instead, overriding the CV generated by the 2nd row's potentiometer. The A-155's functions can be expanded by the A-154 Sequencer Controller, as it's an entire control unit with step number limitation, voltage controllable clock generator, variable gate length and a number of playback modes.

Features of the analog rows (knobs):

- 8 potentiometers (knobs)
- Lower row: Scale (knob), voltage output range 0 ... ~ +6,5V

Features of the trigger rows (switches):

- 4 Trigger/Gate tracks with 2 rows of switches
- Toggle switches of 1-0-1 type (with middle position), which can be used to send a trigger/gate to the track above or below or to send no trigger/gate (middle position)
- 3 trigger rows (i.e. short pulse for each step set, pulse width corresponds to the pulse width of the clock/step input signal)
- 1 gate row (i.e. a high signal is applied during the length of the step set)

Control inputs and buttons:

- Step (defines the tempo of the sequence, same as clock or trigger input)
- Reset (resets all rows to step 1)
- Start (starts the sequence at the momentary position)
- Stop (stops the sequence at the momentary position)

Step and Reset are compatible to the MIDI interface A-190, i.e. in combination with the A-190 the A-155 may be synchronized via MIDI. The quantizing module A-156 can be used to quantize the infinite analog voltages coming from A-155 into discrete semitone steps (multiples of 1/12V). Without MIDI interface e.g. a LFO rectangle output can be used to define the tempo of the sequence.

The sequencer controller A-154 adds a lot of new functions to the A-155 (e.g. voltage controlled addressing, forward/backward/pendulum/random mode, voltage control of first and last step, voltage controlled clock and gate length, step skipping, combination of several A-155 in parallel/serial mode and many more).

Notes: Module A-190-5 is a four voice Midi/USB to CV/Gate interface.
