Notes: Great value from 4ms's twist on the Stereo Triggered Sampler module, this time capable of playing and manipulating stereo or mono WAV files from an SD card.

The Sampler is a variation of the Stereo Triggered Sampler.

Record, play and loop stereo .wav files with an SD Card. Includes the same 2022 Sampler Pack from the Stereo Triggered Sampler.

Features:

The Sampler plays stereo or mono .wav files from an SD Card. Samples are arranged into banks by placing .wav files into folders (each folder is a bank). A maximum of 10 samples can be loaded in a bank. There is a maximum of 60 banks (600 samples maximum total).
Sample files are limited to 4GB each, which is over 6 hours at 44k/16b/stereo.

Stereo or Mono output

A knob and CV jack selects the Sample to play, and the Start Position knob and CV jack control where in the sample playback will begin. The Length knob and CV jack determine how much of the sample is played back: from tiny grains, to percussive hits, to longer loops... or just the entire file.

Pressing Play or firing a trigger into the Play Trig jack will play the sample. Holding the Play button down for a second will toggle looping.

There's also a Reverse button and jack for backwards playback, and an End Out jack for synchronizing loops, or cascading sample playback with other events.

To record samples, hold Play and Reverse for two seconds. Press Play again or fire a trigger into the Play/Rec Trig jack to start and stop recording. Each recording will create a new stereo 48kHz 24bit .wav file in the current bank's folder. Recordings can be as long as your card has the capacity for: a 256GB card is 18 days of continuous recording (432.9 hours). Audio data is split into maximum 4GB wav files on the microSD card.

Play button/trigger jack: Tapping the button or receiving a trigger starts/re-starts the sample
Sample CV/knob: select which sample within the channel's bank
Pitch CV and Pitch knob: playback pitch (-10 to +4 octave range)
Start Pos CV/knob: position in the sample to begin playback (loop start point)
Length CV/knob: playback time (loop end point)
Length knob at max: entire file is played
Length knob 50%-99%: 200ms - 5s of the sample is played (beginning at the Start Position)

The Shaped Dual EnvVCA is a two-channel analogue envelope generator with waveshapers and a stereo linear VCA. Unlike conventional analogue envelope modules, the waveform of each envelope can be controlled with a slider or CV without changing the envelope timing. With a wide time range from an hour to 2.5kHz, and a plethora of CV inputs and attenuverters, it can be used as an LFO, audio-rate oscillator, slew limiter, waveshaper, ASR/ADSR/complex EG, independent audio/CV VCA, envelope follower, sidechain processor, and general utility module. Each channel has dedicated linear outputs plus attenuverters and offset controls for the variable waveshape outputs, making it an ideal modulation source and stereo VCA.

ADDAC System ADDAC107 Acid Source Synth Voice Module

A synth voice module in 9HP.
Notes: A fresh twist on a simple 303-style acid synth, featuring a triangle/sawtooth/square wave VCO, multi-mode resonant filter, simple AD envelope and a VCA which can be overdriven. Excellent value.

Supplier's Notes:
ADDAC started this module with the idea of developing a complex drum source however, somewhere along the process, it was clear how much better it performed as a synth voice and this lucky accident was embraced.

It features a VCO with a [FREQUENCY] and [FINE TUNE] knob plus a dedicated CV Input and Attenuator knob (tunable over 4 octaves).

The VCO waveform output is achieved by selecting either a Triangle or Saw through a switch. the selected waveform can then be mixed/balanced against the square wave. The resulting mix is then sent to the Filter.

The Filter features a [CUTOFF] and [RESO] resonance knob plus a Cutoff CV Input and Attenuverter knob.

A 3 position switch is used to select the filter type: Highpass, Bandpass or Lowpass.

The resulting output is then sent to the VCA.

The VCA features an Input with [INPUT GAIN] knob which at maximum can amplify the incoming signal by a factor of 2.

This is a very important control, it accepts any signal Trigger, Gate or CV. Whatever input is plugged in the signal is then fed through an AD with a very short attack and controllable decay through the [VCA DECAY] knob plus the CV Input and Attenuverter knob. The resulting slewed signal is then used to control the VCA gain.

This signal is also sent to the CV OUTPUT as well as the LED monitor.

The Accent input adds to the Input signal creating a different amplitude output.


The CV OUTPUT is normalled to the Frequency and Cutoff inputs.

The [INPUT GAIN] knob

Usually Attack/Decay envelopes have a maximum voltage of +5v, no matter if the input gate is +5v or above the AD will clip at +5v. In this case, this clipping method was not used, and instead ADDAC allowed the incoming voltage to determine the maximum AD voltage, meaning that if a +5v gate is present then the AD maximum voltage will be +5v but if a gate of +10v is sent then the AD maximum voltage will be +10v.
This also means that with higher input voltages the decay, although falling at the same speed, will be longer than with lower voltages as it has a longer range to go back to 0v.

As previously mentioned, The [INPUT GAIN] knob can amplify the incoming input by a factor of 2, allowing to use a standard +5v gate or envelope and being able to make the resultant AD go up to +10v.

The AD signal is responsible for opening the VCA. Up to +5v the VCA will open to unity gain above this value the VCA will start to amplify and eventually saturate and distort. This saturation will add harmonics to the signal which will change its gentle timbrical nature to a more unique and peculiar timbre that will make the module shine in Acid contexts.

Adding high levels of Resonance or even filter self oscillation in combination with high VCA saturation will create even more harmonics that ADDAC highly encourage the user to explore.

The Tone Science Triple Cross module is a design collaboration between electronic musician/composer Ian Boddy and AJH Synth.

It features three independant cross fader and panner channels, and it can be used with both audio and CV signals. Each of the channels can be configured in one of four different ways:

1) One In, One out Linear VCA

2) Two in, One out crossfader

3) One in, Two out panner,

4) Two in, Two out cross fader & reversing panner combined.

Audio rate modulation can also be used on the CV inputs to create Ring modulation and Cross modulation type sounds. Each channel has a dedicated Fade control, CV input, and CV Level attenuverter. These can be used together to bias incoming CV signals.

The L1 and L2 outputs from channels 1 and 2 are normalised to channel 3's inputs, which also have their own level controls to balance incoming signals. This allows very interesting, complex fading and panning between four different input sources, to either Mono or Stereo outputs..

A crossfader panner module in 14HP
Notes: The Tone Science Triple Cross module is a design collaboration between electronic musician/composer Ian Boddy and AJH Synth.

It features three independant cross fader and panner channels, and it can be used with both audio and CV signals. Each of the channels can be configured in one of four different ways:

1) One In, One out Linear VCA

2) Two in, One out crossfader

3) One in, Two out panner,

4) Two in, Two out cross fader & reversing panner combined.

Audio rate modulation can also be used on the CV inputs to create Ring modulation and Cross modulation type sounds. Each channel has a dedicated Fade control, CV input, and CV Level attenuverter. These can be used together to bias incoming CV signals.

The L1 and L2 outputs from channels 1 and 2 are normalised to channel 3's inputs, which also have their own level controls to balance incoming signals. This allows very interesting, complex fading and panning between four different input sources, to either Mono or Stereo outputs..

The Triple Cross is very versatile, yet relatively simple to understand and use. However, as they say "knowledge is power", so do spend a little time reading about how to configure the channels in the four different modes, and how to combine all three channels together to create a super-powerful Four to Two to One cross fader.
Each of the three channels can be configured in four different ways, and all three can be used simultaneously. They do not all have to be in the same mode, so we could for example use channel 1 as a cross fader, channel 2 as a Panner for completely different signals, and channel 3 as a Linear VCA, again for different signals.

The 'Quaid Megaslope' is a five stage function generator or modulator which operates in one of 3 modes; a multistage 'CZ' or 'Juno' style complex envelope, a super flexible LFO and a step sequencer with per step programmable slew or slides.

Each mode produces a varying output voltage moving from point to point across a set number of chained together stages. Each stage features a destination level, an overall rate or time to reach its destination level and a variable slope for the output path to take. As well as direct control, every stage feature voltage control of both level and rate. There are both unipolar and bipolar voltage outputs together with triggers emitted for the end of each stage and the end of a full cycle.

The Quaid Megaslope is designed to be fun, flexible and intuitive to use.

Dual envelope module with gate delay - 16HP.
Notes: For the creation of a sound it is absolutely a necessity to have an envelope generator. Moreover, in most cases you need to use two of it, one for the VCF, and another one for the VCA, or for other moulations perhaps.

With this in mind, the DUAL ENV came into existence, with an extra feature of the GATE DELAY function. Using the own dedicated potentiometer of this function you can make the second envelope to delay.

Both of these envelope generators can be set-up for GATED or TRIGGERED mode. This way you can turn on/off the legato playing. With separate switches you can set the curves of the envelopes by choosing linear or exponential.

For the sake of easy and convenient adjustment, AS divided the time potentiometers into two sections. This way you can set the time from completely turned down position to mid position 2ms to 1s, and from mid position to completely turned up position 1s to 10s. At the delay knob its 0s, 200ms, 2s. Using this method you can really fine tune the times.

Just in case, if this wasn't enough yet, you can find the inverse of the envelope signs on the outputs of the DUAL ENV. It means the positive output works from 0V to +10V, the inverse output works from 0V, to -10V. Moreover, the second envelope has an OFFSET switch, so you can shift the output level. This way it can be 0V to 10V, or -5V to +5V

All of these features make it possible to create more and more exciting modulations and the output of the second envelope becomes compatible with modulation inputs receiving -/+5V control voltage.

The heart and soul of all synthesizers is the filter. And the most important one is the low-pass filter. And the Lowpass VCF & VCA is a modern, linear, 100% analogue filter. It works perfectly in any circumstances, and reacts "musically" within the most extreme set-ups as well.

It's very important to make the filter capable of receiving multiple audio signals, since the creation of a timbre often requires a few oscillators, noise generators, external sources perhaps. For this reason, AS built into the module a three channel mixer, and you can find here the post-filter VCA as well.

All the same applies on the reception of the CV signs. Besides the V/OCT input, there are two more adjustable CV inputs for the frequency modulation, and separate input for controlling the resonance, and one for the VCA level.

The filter reacts "musically". For example: if you turn up the resonance knob, you'll hear a soft sinus resonance. The sound won't fall apart, the filter won't start to "scream". Besides of all, a Resonance Boost circuit was built into the filter, which makes sure that lifting the resonance won't let fade the range of deeper frequency.

And guess what! You can overload the filter! Give it a try, you'll hear a very pleasant drive effect. This effect is based on the attribute of the filter's own circuit, not by a built-in distortion.

For the sake of comfortable application, the input of the Freq CV2 can be assigned to the VCA CV input by using its own switch. In this case the same generator is capable of modulating the frequency of the filter, and the amplitude of the VCA as well.

AS Synthesizers VCO Analogue Voltage Controlled Oscillator Module

First of all, AS Synthesisers emphasised the tunability of the oscillator. In so many cases it's necessary to tune the oscillator back and forth in the middle of a performance. And many cases it's really hard to hit the proper pitch, that's why AS decided to use -/+1 octave tune potentiometer (marked with a piano keyboard). You can switch octaves in four steps as well, and for highly precise tuning there's a fine tune knob too.

This 100% analogue and temperature compensated oscillator, generates square, saw, triangle and sine waves. Besides the individual waveform outputs, there's a selectable waveform output as well.

The waveforms appear with the same phase and the same amplitude (10Vpp) on the outputs. This makes it possible to use multiple waveforms simultaneously from the same VCO, without phase quench or volume fluctuation.

The pulse width can be adjusted between 10% and 90%. There's a controllable PWM CV input too. The SAW compatible HARD SYNC input can be turned on/off.

Besides the V/OCT input, there are two adjustable exponential CV inputs available for the modulation of the frequency. The whole range of frequency of the VCO is in between 16.352Hz and 8.372kHz (C0 - C9), so it means 10 octaves with +/-5 cents accuracy.

This is a mini analogue synthesizer that produces snare drum sounds. Inspiration was taken from the 5U Cor Synth DR02 module. Only the flow chart was studied and used to create this BLM product. VCV Rack was also used to simulate and test the building blocks.

Most of the circuits contained in this product are from other blue lantern module designs.

The best description as to what the kind of snare drum sounds this module can produce is something comparable to:

an Electribe Korg ER-1, Simmons Snare Drum, and the Mattel Synsonics.

Notes: The Cali oscillator is a new and improved version of the classic Buchla 258 wave shaping oscillator with an additional pulse width modulated output. The oscillator features the classic Sine to Square and Sine to Saw wave shaping with dedicated CV control. The Cali Oscillator differs from previous versions of the 258 in that it has a 3-way position switch rather than 2-way. This new middle position features a bonus waveform that will shape from a pulse into a kind of triangular trapezoid shape. The shaping control is more unpredictable in this middle position and the switch reacts to body contact when the wave shape is set low - it can be thought of as an extra bonus waveform, great for producing glitchy sounds! There are dedicated inputs for linear and exponential FM and the Cali also adds a Pulse output with it's own width control and PWM CV input. The behaviour of the pulse output can be affected by the position of the waveform switch and wave shape control. The module features Coarse and Fine frequency controls and an LFO mode, LFO range is accessed via an LED pushbutton that also acts as the LFO speed indicator - the button will light up when the waveform moves through its positive cycle. Because the wave shape modulation is independent of pitch this oscillator is very useful for creating complex timbres whilst retaining musical pitch.

The EN129 Thru Zero Oscillator is an all analogue triangle-core VCO specialising in frequency modulation. Analogue through-zero FM modulation produces a wide array of timbres particularly useful for bell like or percussive sounds. Through zero linear frequency modulation can be precisely dialled in thanks to a dedicated CV input attenuator and through zero offset control. Logarithmic FM is also available via it's own dedicated input with attenuator and both FM inputs have an LED to indicate incoming voltages. Simultaneous analogue wave outputs include: Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth, Square and Pulse wave with Pulse Width Modulation. The PWM control goes to zero at either end of it's range, which is very useful for creating rhythmic sounds with voltage control. Furthermore the PWM control doubles up as wave shape modulation for the Sawtooth wave - gradually altering the waveform until it shifts half a cycle. The EN129 features Coarse and Fine frequency controls as well as an LFO mode. Notes: The Looping VC-ADSR is a 4-stage, loop-able, envelope generator based on the ENVGEN 8C IC from Electric Druid. The individual sections of the Envelope (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release, Level and Time) can all be individually controlled via CV.

The module has 5 MODES of operation that can be selected via the pushbutton LED switch with the status indicated by the five LEDs above:

Normal Envelope - Gate signal at the GATE/TRIG input, fires the ADSR.
Trigger Mode - Trigger signal at the GATE/TRIG input fires the AD portion of the envelope. The sustain control determines the final value the envelope rests at after the decay portion has ended.
Gated Looping Envelope - ADSR loops whilst gate signal is high.
Looping Envelope - ADSR loops regardless of gate signal.
LIN response (Hold switch to select between LIN/EXP Mode) - Sets the envelope response to be Linear. The response is Exponential when the status LED is off.
When the envelope is looping, all 5 controls affect the output. Attack and Decay operate, as one would expect. The Sustain control sets the minimum voltage the decay part of the envelope will decay to. The Release sets a release time from the end of the Sustain period to the beginning of the next cycle. When the Sustain is set to 0 you can use the Release control to add a delay between the Attack and Decay cycles.

In Normal Envelope mode the Sustain CV input can be used with an LFO source to add amplitude modulation that gradually increases as the Envelope transitions from the Attack/Decay part of the envelope into the Sustain part. The Level CV is also a useful point for amplitude modulation or can be used for Velocity Sensitivity via CV.

The Time CV is set so that increasing voltage shortens the overall envelope time to better mimic the sounds of percussive instruments.

This new mode activates a feedback distortion circuit capable of actually changing the pitch of the notes coming in to the filter in a musical way that adds instant variety to acid basslines, creates weird and strange alterations to drones or adds some nice overdriven distortion to whatever goes into it!

The multi-mode ladder (mml) filter is based on the classic transistor ladder low pass filter by dr. Robert a. Moog. This filter updates the classic 4-pole ladder design to provide band pass and high pass filter responses as well as the traditional low pass filter. There are 2 bipolar controls with attenu-verters for the cut-off frequency plus a cv input for the resonance.

The core of the circuit features a fully discrete transistor design with an op-amp buffered output, this allows soft saturation of the input signal to get the classic overdriven tones of the ladder filter. A bass compensation circuit has been included to retain the bass response in low pass mode when the resonance is increased. The bass compensation also helps to improve the response of the high pass filter.

The red mode is activated/de-activated by holding the mode button for 0.3s. In this mode the filter cut-off, input volume and resonance all interact and the effect is to produce alterations to the incoming frequencies. The pitches of the audio coming into the filter also affect the alterations as well selecting between low pass, band pass and high pass filter modes whilst in red mode.

Notes: The Wave Transformer is a complex single oscillator with 7 audio outputs. Its method of wave shaping differs from other complex oscillators in that it is not based upon classic wave folding such as is common in West Coast synthesis, or filtration such as is common in East Coast synthesis.

This analogue, vintage-voiced, voltage-controlled oscillator features over 8 octaves of accurate pitch tracking. Its 7 simultaneous wave outputs include a unique Complex output. This strange and novel output varies between a simple waveform (triangle, unless you patch a signal into the Shape Insert jack) and a complex transformation of the harmonic structure of the original waveform. It contains a unique mixture of the fundamental frequency, odd order harmonics, even order harmonics and subharmonics. The Sub Octave panel control will determine whether the sub harmonics are derived from one octave down, two octaves down, or are muted altogether. It will vary from a simple waveform to a silhouette of your cat watching you as you react to a "present" that it left for you on the counter. No, seriously.

The module's Transform control morphs from a basic waveform through many strange iterations into a complex, gnarled mass of audio mutations at the Complex output using an asymmetrical multi differential audio transmutation circuit. You can yield countless variations on these permutations by combining this novel circuit with Hard Sync, Soft Sync, Linear FM and Exponential FM.

Additionally, you can mute the source waveform to use the circuit as a harmonic gate/VCA, rendering the Wave Transformer a voice unto itself.

If that is not enough, there is a Shape Insert that allows you to transform external oscillations and modular-level audio sources.

The Domino is an analogue all-in-one synth voice with saw/square wave oscillator, ladder type low pass filter, envelope and VCA - it is designed for pure beefiness and grunt in the low end department. It excels at basslines, acid, kicks and low throbbing drones.

The core of the module is a dual waveforms oscillator with saw and square. The pulse width of the square can be modulated with the PWM input.

The pitch knob over a range is of 1 octave, designed to be used primarily in lower ranges. The CV input control the oscillator pitch in v/oct but is also normalised to the f Mod input. When the f mod potentiometer is fully open, the filter can be controlled in v/oct. Since the filter as self-oscillation capabilities, you can also use it as an oscillator.

The decay envelope is controlling the filter cutoff and is normalized to the oscillator pitch input.

The Domino provides two envelopes control options with its gate>VCA and envelope>VCA switch, allowing you to choose between using a gate signal or the decay envelope to shape the VCA response.

The Mix knob enables blending between the saw and square waves. Connect external sound sources to the Mix 1 and Mix 2 inputs to replace the saw wave and square wave, respectively.

This module also provides the dry oscillator waveforms output as well as the envelope output.

- Inputs 5/6 are stereo, making it easy to mix modules with stereo outputs (right input is normalized to the left) to mix the growing catalogue of stereo modules.

A header on the back allow you to use the L output as a TRS stereo output. Another header is here to link the Supamix with the O phone/line module.

The Swap functions on the modules are both useful for transitioning between sound scenes or creative applications. To change the swap modes on Supamix, press the Shift button and one of the mutes. If you press the Swap button, it will activate the swap manually. The following are the swap modes available.

1 -> Scene change gate : Reverse the mutes states when a gate is high
2 -> Scene change trig : reverse the mutes state when trigged (or if the swap button is pushed)
3 -> Binary counter : CV input between 0 and 5v will correspond to a 6 bit binary counter. At 0v mutes will be all oo, 5v will be all open. And it will count as follow :100000 010000 110000.....
4 -> Randomizer: Trigg to randomize the mutes. You can change the probability of having the mutes on by using a trigger between 2 and 5v.
5 -> Sequencer: Trig to go one step further. It reverse the current step mute state.
6 -> State rotation: Rotate the mute state 0v there isn't rotation, 5v is a full cycle rotation. This shift the mutes state (last one goes to first one)

Akropoli is an extension and enhancement of our successful Little Melody and High Towers modules, offering the features of both of these modules as well as some of it's own unique features such as mute buttons per channel, manual transpose knob and 1V/oct transpose CV input. Akropoli operates using Frequency Central's proprietary TOOL V2 code, and can count in integers as well as multiples for even more subtle and evolving variations.

Akropoli is a generative sequencer based around clock divisions and a chromatic quantiser, used to create in-the-moment licks and riffs. It is more that the sum of it's parts.

Akropoli's internal operations can be considered as 4 clock dividers patched into a CV mixer via attenuators. The attenuators select notes over a 5 octave range, the clock dividers determine how often those notes are added to the mix. The final output of Akropoli is quantized chromatically for fast set up and continuously pleasing results. Akropoli has an onboard transposition knob, as well as a 1V/oct transposition CV input.

The 4 clock dividers are labelled A, B, C, and D. They all receive clocks from the same source, the divisions may be selected using the presets and the individual division selectors. The clock dividers can be set to count up, down, or to one of a variety of modes that move between counting up and down. For further information on Presets and Modes see the Little Melody User Guide.

Additionally, each clock divider has it's own binary output (either high or low), these 4 outputs can be used to clock/gate/trigger other stuff on other modules to great effect.
