Review: Duploc continue to fly the flag for true-skool dubstep with their digital output and a renewed run of vinyl pressings. Duploc Blaxck Tapes 2.0 originally dropped back in 2022 and the tracks from the likes of Hamdi, Hypho and ENiGMA Dubz were instantly getting picked up by such respected selectors as Youngsta, Sicaria Sound and Riz La Teef. It's not hard to see why, given the label's declared focus on "the heavier dubstep sound" with incendiary results. If you want to test some subs with the gnarliest 140 gear around, this record is all you need.

Dark Harmonics & Otz - "Voidwalker" (J Kenzo remix) (5:05)
Track 4 (4:14)
Review: Vinyl-only business from the FKOF crew: Sheffield's Dark Harmonics and Subaltern's Otz team up for the incendiary "Voidwalker". Creepier than a graveyard picnic, it's all in the strange misty textures and powerful sense of tension before the flabbiest of subs kick in and the fun begins. Remix wise J:Kenzo does them proud with a similarly tense twist that's based around hard swaggering kicks and more eerie and bad dream textures. Elsewhere Dark Harmonics throws down a crucial solo. Brilliantly entitled "Fucking Spiders", it's an outstanding piece of 23rd century funk with all the right room and gloom we've come to expect from him. Creepy crawly.

Misfit - "Katana" (5:05)
Oxossi - "Frantic" (6:33)
Review: Sound as a well-rounded pound; two more talented sub craftsmen step up to this consistently sold out vinyl series. Brighton's Misfit takes the lead with a delicious doom stomper, all tense strings and ploughman bass. He's complemented by Oxossi on the B who goes organic with a warm and woozy bass cascade that's drench in gently freefalling instrumentation. Like every Well Rounded release so far, the beauty here is how well the artists complement each other and create such a nice contrast. True scale and scope. Well Rounded by name...

Mystik 808
Review: OM Unit makes his ZamZam Sounds debut with two tracks that flaunt plenty of power, weight and punch.
A-side track 'Armageddon Style' wraps a prodding, full spped steppers-style rhythm in swirling seas of sparkling synths to great effect, while the slow-stepping 'Mystik 808' on the B goes heavier on the bassline and echo chambers, for what feels like a slower offering, if no less intense.

Nada (Photom remix) (3:50)
In My Style (3:48)
Triggered (3:47)
Review: The hotly tipped and already fairly proven (after a great outing in Jan with his EP on For The Heads) OME from Berlin is a new signing to the Wheel & Deal label and he doesn't disappoint. His sound comes with an undercurrent of dread, serious low-end weight and rich sound designs as well as, of course, good vibes. He updates the OG dubstep sound here with his own sense of infectious swagger on 'Nada' which has plunging bass and trippy, aqueous melodies. The Photom remix brings out a more restless melodic refrain before flipside joints 'In My Style' offer classic low-frequency oscillations and 'Triggered' takes a darker path through a late-night urban area.

Review: Always coming with the juiciest and most forward-thinking takes on 140 music and bass culture, Zhu's White Peach operations have been setting the benchmark for many years. And this reissue is a kindly reminder of their consistency and future-focused nature. Originally released in the summer 2020, it's now rebooted on lush yellow vinyl and, from the stunning Indian strings on the skin-scorching opening title track to the last rippling bleep from the finale track 'Renegade', the sounds remain as ahead of their time.

Agadir (3:47)
Delivero (5:33)
Toxic Waste (5:49)
Garzweiler (4:37)
Review: Version co-bossman Orson seems to only drop a release once a year. But when he does, it's always worth paying close attention to. As with all things Version, it's a full trip that joins dots well beyond the assumed or conventional dub continuum. "Agadir" is a hazy Latin mooch into dub disco territory while "Delivero" is positively Balearic with its 105BPM plod, delicate arpeggiated weaves and sudden drop into soulful vocals. Flip for "Toxic Waste" as Orson goes all percussive and broken beat (think Tyrant) while "Garzweiler" closes on an stormy ambient note. Batten down the hatches.

Shaolin (3:44)
Feedback (5:34)
Review: He's back... Riding on the crest of his near-majestic collaboration with Subscape for UKF's UKF10 series this spring The Others flips the switch once again with two dark designs on the consistently on-point Sentry. Revealing much ruff corners of his underbelly, we kick off with "Shaolin", a track that's powered by agruff sandpaper funk bassline and warped, skewed Japanese strings. It's followed by "Feedback" where every shade of The Others we love is whipped up in a blender; an epic intro, a gritty bassline, off-beat funk and sudden shards of light breaking through as the track progresses. After a few release-light years, it seems The Others has really and truly got the bug again. More please.

Windy (4:08)
Sagasu (3:14)
Rub A Thug (4:06)
Polarised (4:25)
Review: Parisian producer Ourman has been touted as one to watch many times over the last few years, with plaudits arriving for his numerous low-key, largely digital-only releases. According to our research, this outing on White Peach is his first vinyl missive - something of a landmark for the up-and-coming Frenchman. There's much to admire throughout, with Ourman combining warm, deep, sometimes punishing sub-bass and crunchy post-dubstep drum rhythms with a variety of breezy, ear-pleasing melodies and instrumental flourishes. The best of the bunch is probably the exotic title track, 'Windy', which rushes along at a notable pace and boasts what sounds like Amazonian instrumentation (but most likely isn't), though the sparkling and deep 'Rub A Thug' and skittish 'Polarised' are also top-notch.

Pocket Fruit (4:06)
Review: Hands up - this is our first brush with French artists Ourman, but we're already hooked. He has a clear love of UK sounds - dubstep, bass, broken beat - as they are the cornerstones of this new EP on UK label White Peach. He serves them all up with a deftness of melodic touch and plenty of cosmic aesthetics. 'Zengo' starts with screwing bass and sunny acoustic strings over a lurching beat, then 'Second Thoughts' is another hefty low end wobbler but with introspective melodies and bright flashes of colour. "Mindless Mills' is a darker UK stepper and 'Pocket Fruit' is the wispy, whimsical closer that will fit your heart with warmth and hope. A standout EP from a name we shall be keeping an eye on.

Morbid Impulses (4:27)
Sosa (3:22)
Review: Deep Dark & Dangerous comes on strong once again this December with a badman new offering from Oxossi. This one has it all, from grime-tinged production to deep bass, edgy stabs to lush violins, all of which add up to cinematic tracks that push and pull you in many different directions at once. 'Sweat' sounds like if Wu Tang made dirty dubstep, 'Magdalena' is a percussive and tropical track from the depths of a South American jungle and 'Morbid Impulses' is pure dystopian wobbler. 'Sosa' closes out with gorgeous flute leads taking you down a deep dark path of mystery.

Review: Giddy-up mate, Oxossi's back on the horse and he's trotting up a stink some place near you... If you're lucky to grab one of these 300 copies. "Blackhorse" takes the lead with some dark, gritty anxious rave moods before the organs, rumbling subs and weeping synth leads sweep you off to the heavens on "End Of Your Light". Finally "Ronin" polishes its Japanese steel, chopping up a cropper for the finale, galloping hooves galore. Top banana.

Review: Fine far-out beat magic from LA's Oxossi as he builds on a spotless body of work on labels such as Banana Stand, Crucial and Deep Dark & Dangerous with this Subaltern debut. Three tracks, three unique tales. "Sama" weaves purple synth sweeps with mournful eastern pipes in a warm and woozy way while "Saut Dans Le Vide" brings in the pianos to effect. The final chapter goes into max-saturated bleep bliss overdrive. Imagine joyriding an SR Nova on a rainbow under the influence. Buckle up.

Review: LA's Oxossi returns to Deep Dark & Dangerous to build on the ruins of last year's "Cities Of Salt". More looming sub-low structures, laced with melancholy and mean bass textures, each track is a trip: The fog of pipes and waves of oscillations on "Dark Passenger", creepy grimey weirdness on "Tippy Toeing", churchy organs and tripped-out time signatures on "Tokoloshe" and trapped-out warped paranoia on "Ride It". Buckle up, Oxossi isn't messing around here.

This powerful second volume takes off where the inaugural instalment left us, it's another snapshot into the future of dubstep as it celebrates the new generation of innovative production talent keeping the 140 vibe alive into the 2020s. Flavours range from smouldering trad dub (Sedan's heavyweight 'Tecc') to contemporary, subversive springy bubblers (Distinct Motive's bell-ringing 'Champ') and all things between.

Oxossi - "No War" (5:03)
Shadow People - "Painted Red" (4:11)
Review: Truth's triple-D stable celebrate 60 releases with an epic release "Deep Dark & Dangerous Trilogy". This is the first of a series of EPs, it's focussed on the deepest tendrils of the label and it's just a sliver of the 29-track action. Sepia opens with a beautiful, heart-heaving lament "Voodoo" before Taiko lures us into the graveyard for some shadowy mischief on "Rise" before Oxossi gets aggy on the pipes and harmonica with "No War". Finally we see the return of Truth and Youngsta's Shadow People project as Lelijveld's hazy tones brings us to a cosy close on "Painted Red". Precision emotional sonics.

First comes Enigma Dubz who joins the fray for an alien shoot 'em up 'The Engineers' before Opus comes crashing into the blend on the ultra crisp and dreamy 'Mediator'. Review: Some three years after he emerged in the misty heights (or depths) of Witch House's short lived notoriety, the amusingly spectral named oOoOO delivers his debut album Without Your Love. Evidently no longer aligned with the Tri Angle aesthetic, this eleven track set comes via the Nihgt Feelings label the San Franciscan producer runs with a "couple of local gravediggers" and expands on the approach shown on his two EPs for Robin Carolan's label. No longer called Witch House, oOoOO is now embraced as the point where post modern R&B song writing meets queasy, spacious musical arrangements, so expect auto tuned vocals floating over ethereal ivory blessed soundscapes and crust laden MPC beats. The stuttering detuned Atlanta hip hop of "The South" and the suite of Burial-esque cuts that follow are standout tracks.
