Savage (4:43)
Righteous (4:44)
Review: Kromestar's upped his activities lately; the emotional dust of his orchestral "Against All Evil" EP hasn't even started to settle and here he is with two more iced out steppers that he's been teasing us on dub for the last year. "Savage" is as savage does... A quintessential Kromestar joint that could have rattled scoops at any year in the last 15. "Righteous" is a deeper spacious jam laced with sweeping stretched textures and a clockwork rhythm that does nothing short of hypnotise. Classic Krome.

Impervious (4:42)
Reevea (5:06)
Egyptian March (4:38)
Review: Up there with Swindle and Joker, dubstep's funkiest OG Silkie returns to Deep Medi with three more sublime grooves. Broken, cheery, just a little cheeky and swooning with switches, each of these cuts rattles and bashes with Silkie's signature west- coast-meets-UKG-in-a-long-dark-Croydon-tunnel melting pot: "Impervious" flips from orchestral epic to dreamy flutters before dropping into 80s horn funk with mischief while "Reevea" is Silkie in classic "Poltergeist" mode. Finally "Egyptian March" is straight out of Indiana Jones. A jittering snake charmer that has you going from nought to rolling under stone doors and grabbing your hat in 10 seconds. Silkie you absolute don.

Doomsayer (4:38)
Psychodrama (4:17)
Ill Behavior (feat Kali) (5:14)
Pills & Chains (5:27)
Review: LA's Zach Mellion builds on a killer run of releases on the likes of Chestplate and Crucial with his debut on the perennial sub slinging Trusik. Four tracks, each one sludgy, slurring and sprung with tightly coiled provocation, "Doomsayer" opens with a fittingly ominous tone conjured solely by grainy swampy bassline, "Psychodrama" plays havoc with your balance as cascades follow each other just a smidgeon out of time, "Ill Behaviour" thumps with some serious distortion on the rasping bass and jittering kicks while "Pills & Chains" closes on an intoxicated, wonked out Ivy Lab league swagger jam. Gully.

SFG (4:44)
Forward (3:44)
Late Night Escort (with Soukah) (5:06)
Review: One of the earliest acts to appear on Rarefied, Belgium's darkest dubstep wizard Zygos returns with three more beguiling constructs. "SFG" ignites the fires with an intoxicating mystic flare and traditional Greek instruments, "Forward" plays the consummate graveyard creeper of the EP, all icy and foreboding but driven with some expert rolling rhythm work before "Late Night Escort" takes us home and tucks us in under shrouds of bluesy harmonics.

The Curse (4:12)
Backroads (4:41)
Review: One of the most consistent harbingers of the broken beat this year, Nomine Sound introduce a brand new project from Asif Kid and Slimzee in the form of E3 Breaks. Exploring the murky 140 waters between breaks, garage, dubstep and jungle, both cuts gel a whole host of soundsystem genres together with their caustic, barbed wire beats; "The Curse" is a moody halftime grumbler with roots in dub but its heart in jungle while "Backroads" is a rampant roller that's not dissimilar to the early Botchit releases around 20 years ago. Sparse, sci fi and slippery.

Jackson - "Bloom" (4:40)
Ether - "Ghossst" (4:17)
Review: Two sides, two vibes: Well Rounded Dubs get real with two refreshingly singular pieces of 140 innovation. Yung Jackson builds on his releases on the likes of Dub Tribu and Under Surveillance with this long awaited industrial strength minimal swagger jam. Sounding like it was made in the hottest part of a metal foundry while wearing an iron shirt, it's the sound of a new generation artist making a serious statement of intent. Flip for more forthright soundsystem fury from Denver's Ether as he gets his grunge on with a rough, sludgy bass riff that scuffs the beats, the gutter, its knuckles and your own purdy little features. Limited to the not-so-well-rounded amount of 297 copies, sleeping on this is not recommended.

Too Much (3:45)
In Pieces (4:28)
Like The Seasons (4:02)
Review: Following last year's "Contours", Nottingham duo Congi return to Fent Plates with more raw emotion. Once again with another five track feast that reflects their deepest, widest range to date. Across the EP we're immersed in tangible textures and feelings ranging from the cinematic piano laced two step of the title track to sludgy lofi hip hop of "Too Much" by way of the outer planetary R&B of the finale "Like The Seasons". Genuinely beguiling.
