Magic (4:19)
My Place (4:05)
Review: Circle City Band was a mid-80s boogie-funk outfit from Indiana on the USA. They put out only three singles, while an album of gems was also curated by Luv N' Haight in 2012. Both of these singles were standalone singles in 1983 and 1984 as well as making it on that album but they get fully and proper reissue treatment here by Backatcha. 'Magic' is full flavour, deep cut disco funk with rolling drums and rugged bass riffs as well as beautiful vocal harmonies. 'My Place' keeps the positive moods with more glossy production and silky vocals.

Rockin Poppin Full Tilting (long version) (6:12)
Review: Lee Alfred's 1980 disco classic 'Rockin - Poppin Full Tilting' fetches incredibly high prices on second hand vinyl markets, if you can even find one at all. It is one of only a couple singles the artist put out between 1980 and 1981. Here it gets a special one-sided 45rpm pressing with an extended version rolling on for six sumptuous minutes. Underpinined by a tight rhythm section and bubbly bass, the dazzling synth leads are all pixelated and cosmic, the female backing vocals add heat and the main voice of Alfred is all buttery and soulful.

The Bottle (5:16)
Love Is The Respect (8:18)
Review: This hand-stamped white label is the definition of a cheeky 12". It's an edit of the most celebrated tune by the one and only Gil Scott Heron that is primed and ready for good time dance floors. The drums have been beefed up and fattened out, the bassline has been given more weight and the vocal and flute have been left to do their thing up top. The results are high impact. The flipside is another edit of a big one in Aretha Franklin's 'Respect.' Once again the bottom end has had most work with some extra weight and richness, while a big sax rips up the groove as the vocals ring out.

Alexny - "Aie" (5:16)
Cosmocosmics & Iner - "Senap Groovers" (5:30)
JB Boogie - "Funky Music" (6:12)
Frank Virgilio - "Soul Mates" (6:45)
Review: With a bit of luck you're finding your way to a party somewhere, and if you're really lucky you might be getting to lay a platter or two down for the dance. If so, and disco is your thing, don't sleep on this grip of crucial edits precision tuned to ignite the dancefloor. The third drop on the Super Spicy Recipe series sees Robert Ouimet and Dave Godin bring some fierce flexing to 'More Than Meets The Eye', while Alexny amps things up on the stomping, percussion-laden 'Aie'. JB Boogie's 'Funky Music' edges back from full-tilt disco to delve into something groovier, but even at a slower tempo this track is just as potent for the people, and it might just be the hottest track on this surefire 12" of get-down goodness.

Bourgie Bourgie (Louie Vega mix) (12:45)
Bourgie Bourgie (dance Ritual dub) (8:35)
Review: Living and breathing dance music legend, remix master and all-round pioneer Louie Vega seems to be as busy now as he ever has been. Every new week brings a new project, remix or 12" and this week it is John David and The Monster Orchestra's 'Bourgue Bourgie' that is in his spotlight. He remixes the tune into a steady house groove train with the expressive vocal and piano rolls all present and correct, primed and ready for the dance floor. A Dance Ritual dub on the flip of this yellow 12" closes out a sublime package.

Ninja Dance (6:45)
Cissy (5:39)
Review: After a strong run on Ghetto Disco, Edinburgh's Natasha Kitty Kat lands on Re-Loved with two surefire party heaters for anyone who likes their disco with a bit of bite. 'Ninja Dance' leads the charge with a heavyweight style which, in its most looped up passages, captures the tough and funky pump of Soundstream. 'Cissy' is a fierce stomper, all diva vocals and a string hook to die for. Kitty Kat has a razor sharp instinct for the most potent elements of disco, and she works them with style across both these incendiary tracks.

Boogie Down (part 1) (3:03)
Boogie Down (part 2) (4:01)
Review: Pressure Makes Diamonds casts us back to the 80's on this red hot bit of boogie disco. It is the fine work of an iconic jazz drummer and educator from Houston, Texas, by the name of Bubbha Thomas . e played on plenty of pivotal releases in the fields of R&B, gospel, blues and soul and led his spiritual ensemble 'The Lightmen' to five Grammy nominations, as well as writing a couple of books. With 'Boogie Down' the outfit moved away from jazz and into a rich world of disco and mid-tempo funk. Big fat claps, backing vocals that are buttery and wide open drum breaks all make it irresistible.

I Need You Baby (4:19)
Answer (4:20)
Review: A year after putting out the exceptional full-length Sittin On It by Rivage Athens of the North revisits the album to pluck some stellar singles from it. There are two such 7"s out this month, and this one opens on 'I Need You Baby.' The simple title is the mona vocal hook of this lush and lux disco swirling, with soul to dare. The flip side is 'Answer,' a more prickly beat with funky guitar and meandering synths that are all finished off in style by another of those heart-felt vocals up top. These are glorious tunes for grown-up dance floors.

Double Exposure - "Everyman" (Dam Swindle remix) (6:02)
Kongas - "Kongas Fun" (Dam Swindle edit) (5:18)
Review: Dam Swindle - the Dutch duo formerly known as Detroit Swindle - turn their hand to remixing some old disco gold here. First up is the iconic 'Everyman' by Double Exposure. They do a subtle job, touching up the bass with a contemporary edge and leaving the vocal to do much of the work. A fine move. The flip side is an edit with more of an eye on a full and sweaty dance floor. Kongas's 'Kongas Fun' is all mad synth solos and tribal drumming with a sense fo 60s funk squealing up ahead.

But if the first two are anything to go by then this is another vital collection of dazzling disco that comes on hand stamped vinyl with a screen printed double gatefold cover. We're not even treated to a list of artists or track titles here but suffice it to say this label deals in high grade, authentic tunes that look to funk, soul, boogie and UK street soul for their inspiration.

Superfine Feeling (part 2 - 7" edit) (4:18)
Review: The Record Store Day 2021 gems just keep on coming. This one comes from UK dance music veteran and all round nice guy Ashley Beedle. He was invited back in 2020 to edit the unreleased original Rare Pleasure track 'Superfine Feeling' which got a vinyl release in 2021 on the charity A's and Bees label. Ramrock Boss Lady Jo Wallace heard the tune and was soon keen to lock in a special 7" edit that she thought would amount to "a Blackpool Mecca classic that never existed!" Well, it does now, and it is killer.

Get Into Your Life (Tom Moulton mix - radio edit) (4:11)
Review: GarciaWalker&Durrell - as they style it - is made up of Vince Garcia, Mark Walker - an acclaimed musician and stage-sharer with the likes of Alexander O'Neal, Kelly Rowland and Lionel Richie, and Vince Durrell who as discovered busking on the streets of Leeds. This single was first put out in 1977 on 20th Century Records by singer and guitarist Beloyd. It's a life-affirming cut that has unsurprisingly been a perennial classic at soul weekenders for many a year. Now it gets some sympathetic touch-up work by the man, the legend Tom Moulton to take it to the next level.

Put Something In (7:13)
Review: Chicago house originator and enduring presence Boo Williams ditches his booming kicks in favour of a more loved-up disco sound on this third volume of the Disco Runners series. Good time vibes abound from the off with the lush Philly-style strings of 'Get Down Boy,' which also has strident drums and hissing tape effects. 'I Don't Wanna Lose You' cuts loose on a funky First Choice disco tip with more irresistible strings and 'Put Something In' closes with more uptempo brilliance. All this on a limited and hand stamped wax - what's not to love?

Love Vibration (Art Of Tones remix) (3:47)
Review: New York City label Razor N Tape are back with more of their surefire disco jams. This one comes from Sentimental Animals feat Nicki B who serve up 'Love Vibration.' It is a playful and booty shaking jam with lovely plump bass and a gorgeous vocal that encourages you to move. Filled with synth warmth and a little disco dazzle, it's a colourful and accessible tune that cannot fail. ON the flip of this super 7" is a remix from Art of Tones that pairs things back a little, makes more of the funky bass and brings some great jazzy key work.

Review: This new reissue from Salsoul takes us back to the first volume of what became a vital Re-edits series from disco aficionado Dimitri From Paris. The ever-green disco don really pulled it out of the bag with these. Sure, the originals are all wellborn classics, but in his hands and with an extra sprinkling of dazzling disco dust, they become new and vital once more. The standout will always be Loleatta Holloway's 'Love Sensation' but deeper heads might before the funky bass of Inner Life's 'Moment of My Life.' There are also boogie tinged, string laced gems from Love Committee and ass-shaking synth jams from Skyy.

Review: London institution Horse Meat Disco and New York City's Phenomenal Handclap Band present some fine remixes of 'Sanctuary' taken from their album Love And Dancing released last year. It is an irresistible modern disco number, which receives an extended mix in addition to a rework by Mangled main man Ray Mang who gets a low slung boogie-down vibe in effect, followed by a trippy dubstrumental that's perfect for getting weird on the dancefloor during the later hours of the evening.

Televised Mind (Dave Clarke edit) (4:11)
Review: The Baron of Techno that is Dave Clarke has become something of a spokesperson for the sensible dance music fan in recent times He isn't afraid to cut through the hype with his often-on-point views, but happily, he is still doing the good stuff in the studio too. He has always been one to add his own spin to a range of non-dance acts and here he tackles tunes by Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C. His two remixes tackle cuts from the band's highly acclaimed 2020 LP A Hero's Death and the results are as blistering and brilliant as you would expect.

Love To The World (KON Lovestrumental) (9:32)
Review: Kon continues to use his Kontemporary label to release his own licensed remixes of original disco tunes. This time round, he presents two new versions of L.T.D's 1976 cut "Love To The World". His A-side "Lots of Love Remix" is particularly strong, offering a rolling, musically rich reconstruction that adds a little more contemporary low-end pressure while showcasing the original version's superb vocals by spreading it out, giving the punchy disco-funk horns, killer bassline and tasty instrument solos time to work its magic. Over on Side B, he offers up an instrumental version of the same mix in which soaring disco strings provide a focal point and push the track forwards towards a suitable celebratory conclusion.

Review: The Drum Chums label clocks up the third release just a few months after the seance one that we loved so much. This time out it is Neil Diablo who shows off his stick skills having turned out a number of fine disco grooves before now on labels like To Rack & Ruin and Rothmans. He goes for a sultry, deep-cut groove to start on the excellent 'High Emotion' while 'Sex N Drugz' gets all funky and playful with its plucked bassline and stuttering rhythms. 'We Can' closes out a nicely eclectic EP with a slick Balearic number that will take you to the stars.

Review: Ombra International celebrates hitting its 20th EP by going full steam ahead into some darkened disco realms with this fantastic five track various artists EP. Skelesys 'The Scorpion Sting' opens with a high speed and dystopian chase through astral landscapes before Juan MacLean sinks down into the more synth heavy and stripped back world of 'Monika.' The Hardway Bros as always go hard and analogue with their excellently raw 'Early 90's.' Gunce Aci then flips the script with some serrated acid and warped techno drums to round out a rugged EP.

Outta Space (Vicious 70's House mix) (6:50)

Review: La Palace De Beaute was a short lived moniker by Lawrence Thom. He penned only three releases in the late 1980s but they endure on dance floors to this day. 1988's The Pleasure Seekers EP was produced by Larry Tee and features backing vocals from Kip Lavinger. The titular track is a hi HRG and house fusion with steamy vocals and retro-future production. 'Outta Space (Vicious 70s House Mix)' is a brilliantly lo-fi and off-grid cut with raw beats and freaky effects and 'Sin' closes out with a perfect 80s Balearic sound, lush chords and tender R&B overtones on a slow motion disco beat.

Kobala (6:05)
Review: Disco Express main man Bustin' Loose was apparently inspired to write this EP of original material by recalling the happy times he spent visiting various East Asian cities in the years before COVID-19 made travel much more difficult. He hits the ground running with 'Sugar Rush', an Italo-disco style, synth-heavy throb job marked out by wavy, eyes-closed female vocal snippets and fizzing lead lines, before opting to add more organic instrumentation to a synth-sporting disco groove on 'The Marble City'. Over on the flip, Vanessa Jackson adds a strong, sassy lead vocal to Prince-influenced nu-disco number 'Blue Diamond', while 'Kobala' offers an attractive fusion of crunchy breakbeats, sustained electric piano chords, sustained synth-strings and weighty sub-bass.
