Sven has put together his recommended gear guide exclusively for Juno Records!
“I’m not an overly technical guy, so my basic set-up would include a pair of headphones, a mixer, a pair of CD decks and a pair of record decks.
To start with you’ll need to spend around £100-150 on a pair of headphones with good bass response to really drive the sound. Most Sennheiser headphones in this range are great for that, and I would recommend the HD25’s.
Next up is a mixer. Most worthy clubs will have really great mixers, but for me, using something like an Allen Heath makes a huge difference. The sound quality is fantastic and the built-in effects are also great.
For CD decks, I would grab a pair of Pioneer CDJ2000’s. These are basically like super-computers and will make your life so much easier, not to mention you can plug in external hard drives or USB keys, making them a lot more versatile.
Finally, you have to have a pair of vinyl decks. If, like me, you grew up playing on Technics decks you’ll know there’s a certain feel to them that’s not quite like anything else, but you can also grab a pair of Stanton ST150’s which are superb.
That’s it from me. Check out the link to follow my Facebook page and go see Eden at the cinema this weekend!”
