Kord (6:32)
Kord (Diego Krause remix) (7:16)
Air (7:57)
Air (Ben Buitendijk remix) (6:16)
Review: Mickael Jeanneret is Janeret, a deep house producer from Paris who now finds himself with a release on promising new Russian label Berg Audio who have previously served up the likes of iO (Mulen) and Andre Kronert. For the Kord EP, the title track is a densely layered yet sublime and rolling journey through the dub techno sound and executed tastefully. Its remix by Berlin tech house hero Diego Krause respectfully retains the dubbiness yet injects it with more groove and swagger. On the flip, "Air" ventures down a much deeper route with emotive pads and hypnotic dub chords working to great effect. The Dilated Pupils affiliated Ben Buitendijk delivers a brilliant rework, covering the track in the right amount of dust and rust like he only can.

Review: Having lurked around murky corners of the grubby industrial techno realm for the past year or so, Pavel Milyakov builds on his rapidly swelling discography with this transmission for Public System. It's the second release on the label following a strong opening salvo from DJ Spider and Greypeople, and this 12" offers up further forthright club-wreckers that balance taut functionality with production flair. Opening cut "Strainn" delivers bludgeoning electro from the netherworld, which Ekman then dutifully reworks with an added eerie tension. There are edgy arpeggios aplenty on "Trance T" and warmer tones in "Augusts 13", rounding out an essential slab of serious techno tackle.

Review: UK rave icons Altern 8, the duo of Mark Archer and Chris Peat originally released their seminal hardcore album Full-On Mask Hysteria LP back in 1992 which receives a much welcomed reissue courtesy of Bleech. This limited edition, deluxe reissue has been remastered and includes the original 11 tracks plus some new remixes by the likes of KiNK, Luke Vibert, 2 Bad Mice and Shadow Dancer in addition to classics such as "Infiltrate 202", the breakbeat zeitgeist that is "Give It To Baby" and rave anthems like "E-Vapor-8". Following up Infrastructure New York's re-issue of Archer's equally seminal Trackman material last year, we're happy to see renewed interest in this true UK legend. Respect!

Floating (4:01)
Timed (6:11)
Queue A (5:24)
22:22 (5:54)
Review: Italy's Andrea is now a trusted member of the Ilian Tape collective, having only released for the German label thus far. But, why would he go elsewhere? These guys are on fire, and releasing some of the most interesting shades of industrial 4/4 these days. This is his fourth EP for the throng, and "Floating" starts off with a beatless, wide-eyed landscape of soft pads to introduce the twisted, shifting, break-driven tech of "Timed". "Queue A", on the flip of the disc, is a driving pile of rusty kick drums and oceanic pads that head into the deeper end of the techno sphere, while "22:22" goes all-out on the jungle patterns with its broken groove that recalls the likes of LTJ Bukem or Dego at their more pacy moods. A killer of an EP!

Hallucinator (7:50)
Sendak (7:13)
Review: Asusu is of course a founding member of Livity Sound alongside Pev and Kowton, yet we've not been graced with some material from him on the label for something approaching three years! He's not exactly been silent with Asusu setting up his own Impasse label last year, but we are always going to be happy at the sight of a new Livity 12" from the producer. "Hallucinator" is particularly impressive, with Stennet lacing woozy, psychedelic, acid-flecked motifs over a bouncy, electro-influenced techno rhythm. Flipside "Sendak" explores similar sonic territory, with droning, Eastern-influenced electronics shuffling across the sound space. This is underpinned by a dense but surprisingly fluid rhythm track, which rolls along impressively whilst emphasizing the producer's weighty kick drums, skittish snares and arms-flailing swing.

Puppet Sense (7:00)
New Life Repercussions (8:04)
Review: Call Super is back on Houndstooth, following up that great Nervous Sex Traffic release on Dekmantel with another killer two tracker entitled New Life Tones. There's some immersive high fidelity deepness to be heard on "Puppet Sense" with its booming baseline, echo laden atmospherics and futuristic sound design taking you somewhere else entirely. On the flip, "New Life Repercussions" gets a four to the floor beat on to power away beneath some tunnelling sonar aesthetics and entrancing pads to marvellous effect. Forward thinking stuff as always from this guy!

Bland Ambition (part 3) (6:01)
Bland Ambition (part 4) (6:05)
Review: According to UK techno legend Anthony Child himself, The Bland Ambition EP draws on techniques and inspiration from his live creative processes over the last year and a half. A gradual process of evolution over the 24 years that he has been performing to a point where, as he says himself "it really can't be called Djing anymore." The raw essence of these performances are distilled into these four executions of sheer naked aggression. Released on Dynamic Tension, an outlet devoted entirely to Child's work under the Surgeon moniker, unlike his more well known Counterbalance imprint.

Igneous (5:47)
Breezeblock (6:00)
Flooring (5:57)
Review: Vicious, tooled-up techno slayings from Per and Randomer - drop everything and down that last sip of Red Stripe, this is come cold shit! The pair team up across two tracks for the former's Perc Trax label, and "Igneous" is in no mood to mess around right form the start; intricate, sliding folds of drums bang away amid a gnarly, distorted ocean of cyber-sonics in the same style as Blawan and Pariah's Sheworks output. On the B-side, "Breezeblock" dishes out more UK techno gear, except that here the groove is guided by a killer set of breaks in what is perhaps the best tune of the EP; "Flooring" doesn't exactly mess around either, though, and its menacing techno pounce's sole objective is total dance floor domination. BIG!

Review: How one appropriates themselves is allegedly what Guy Brewer looked inwards and asked himself regarding his current penchant for techno and experimental music and covering up a somewhat secretive past as part of drum and bass duo Commix. The Appropriation Stories LP addresses this subject head on, for his second full length release on Hospital Productions since 2013's Under A Single Banner. The Berlin based producer conducts experiments merging the worlds of harsh and textural techno (as heard on his respected Avian imprint) with industrial noise mayhem as executed under his Covered In Sand or Alexander Lewis aliases. All in all a compelling listen that provides moments of cerebral listening with adrenalised dancefloor fodder.

Review: While Peder Mannerfelt has a history of delivering club-ready techno cuts - admittedly, mostly under the Subliminal Kid alias - his recent releases have been stoutly experimental affairs. This, though, should be considered something of a return to his bombastic dancefloor roots. Slipping out on Will Bankhead and Joy Orbison's hyped Hinge Finger imprint, the EP is chock full of rave-influenced rollers and throbbing, floor-friendly slammers. Chief amongst these is "Clear Eyes, Full Heart", a sweaty, full-body jacker blessed with creepy pads, pulsating rave bass, screeching sirens and dub-wise vocal snippets. It's utterly filthy, in the best possible way, and could well become one of the year's most ubiquitous tracks.

Review: Laura Jones unveiled her new label Sensoramic in May with SAM and Karousel cutting the opening tape in appropriate style. For the second release Laura delivers her first EP since 2014. After taking time out to experiment in the studio and refine her style, The Why Question marks an evolution in the UK producer's output delivering two incendiary underground club cuts ably remixed by Trevino and U-More. Two veterans working under aliases, Trevino is of course better known as legendary drum 'n' bass producer Marcus Intalex who has more recently found a home for his 4/4 output on Klockworks, The Nothing Special and his own label, Birdie. U-More is Italian veteran and Berliner, Ivan Iacobucci, fresh from releasing on Apollonia and a slew of underground minimalist labels who delivers a late night acid laden afterhours workout to compliment Trevino's big room counterpart.

Review: Freerotation resident Tom Ellis has decided to launch a label, In Modo Di ("in the style of", in classical music terms), packing this first release with four of his own productions. While opener "Josuka" is seeped in gentle positivity and hazy warmth - a by-product of a toasty bassline, dreamy keys and swirling atmospherics - for the most part the EP is an ultra-deep and emotion-rich affair. "Berlin In Winter" is particularly spellbinding, with melancholic melody lines wrapping themselves around soft-touch grooves and icy atmospherics, though IDM and ambient-inspired closer "Mabble" - think a slightly cheerier take on the Biosphere sound - is almost as awe-inspiring.

Marcel Dettmann - "Let’s Do It" (Rolando remix) (8:02)
Review: Berlin techno legend Marcel Dettmann is up next for !k7, compiling their latest edition of the esteemed DJ Kicks series. The Berghain resident merges new takes on classics; such as Cybersonik's "Technarchy" (Marcel Dettmann Third mix) and his remix of Infiniti's (aka Juan Atkins) "Skyway" alongside Mystic Bill's classic "U Won't C Me". Elsewhere, he dabbles in classic electro territory from Das Kombinat on "Waschmaschine", industrial proto-techno on Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia's "War Chant" (Marcel Dettmann edit) and some new exclusives from MDR HQ in the form of some interesting collaborations. There's some stripped and textured dub techno featuring Levon Vincent on "Can You See" and a jagged industrial experiment with fellow label mate Wincent Kunth on "Possible Step". While the mix is definitely reminiscent of one of his renowned 12 - 4 warm up sets, the vinyl edition (which comes as a bonus with this double vinyl release in gatefold cover) is a fine collection timeless techno and future classics.

Hot For Destiny & The Street (6:25)
Grey Gotham (6:32)
Drug Deal Videos (6:21)
Review: Back in 2012, Young Male had the honour of serving up the first release on White Material, the hyped imprint he runs with DJ Richard. Surprisingly, this is his first solo effort on the label since. Opener "Hot For Destiny & The Street" is a surging, forthright affair, with clandestine, pitched-down spoken word vocals occasionally making their presence felt over a distorted, no-holds-barred techno groove. "Grey Gotham" is an altogether darker and moodier affair, with horror-influenced chords and pulsating electronic surges wrapping themselves around a deeper techno rhythm, while "Drug Deal Video" hustles and throbs to the sounds of drum machine handclaps, spacey synthesizer chords and intricate cymbal patterns.

Borders (7:05)
Borders (Basic Soul Unit remix) (5:50)
Review: Newcomer Region takes no time to get his credentials across, and this debut EP is all you could possibly ask for from an artist making their way up the food chain. Coming though on the young Jaunt label, Region dishes out some seriously magnificent dub techno lashings here, with the opener "Subline" being something of rough gem; the remix comes from LIES-associate Voiski, and the Frenchman strips the whole thing down to a deeper, murkier tone that we've come to associate him to. "Borders", on the B-side, is a supremely deep and meditative house track with a touch of the 'Shed' in it, and main man Basic Soul Unit drops his version of the tune, a broken beat assemblage with that same dubwise feel that wraps the groove of the original cut.

Review: Rumah is London based producer Sean Hughes who teams up with Bristol's Progression for this fine EP on James Ruskin's esteemed Blueprint label. Starting out with the restrained fury of dynamic opener "Candid", there's no letting up on the next offering entitled "Wind Up & Squeeze" with its relentless industrial stomp supporting catchy synth stabs sure to raise some hands in the air upon arrival. On the flip, the functional cyclicality of "Warm Bodies" displays the kind of reverberated hypnotism that you could imagine Marcel Dettmann playing at 'the big house' before the duo go out all guns blazing on the grinding thrasher "Lein" which is sure to whip the crowd into a frazy.

Tripsolate & Redundaent - "Akay" (9:50)
Review: Bari, Puglia based SUBOSC is helmed by producer Kaelan and presents four excursions through the more hypnotic and cerebral strains of techno. Berlin's Artefakt starts off on the A side with with the trance inducing reductionism of "Curvature Of Mind", while Italian Alan Backdrop returns after what seems like a long absence from the scene, but he's back in form on the exquisite sound design of "Quaraman". On the flip there's Kiwi Ben Gibson with the Millsian touch of "Floating Shadows" which will certainly draw you down into the abyss, while local duo Tripsolate & Redundaent offer up something a bit more different on the electro/dub techno crossover of "Akay" and as unusual as this hybrid must sound, it really works and is truly a highlight. Final Descent (3:55)
Endless Horizon (8:58)
Walk Below The Waters (7:13)
Wandering Aimlessly (6:56)
Review: Between Northern Electronics, Semantica, and Dimensional Exploration, techno deviant Acronym has built himself quite a reputation for conjuring the coldest, most mechanical sort of techno. In case you didn't get it, we think he's a master at the genre, and he's right up there on our list of favourite contemporaries alongside the likes of Abdulla Rashim. This new EP comes courtesy of the fledgling Auxiliary label, and it starts off by setting a cinematic scene through the hollow sounds of "Final Descent", a placid glow of harmonies which transform into an apocalyptic chain of metallic percussion on "Endless Horizon". "Walk Below The Waters" continues this mood on the flipside, thanks to a jittering artillery of drums and hi-hats that have been glued together by the raucous, minimalistic melodies suspended in the mid-end of the tune, only to be washed-out in the comparatively more diluted and tranquil whirlpool called 'Wandering Aimlessly".

Review: Given his impressive track record, much is expected from NGLY's debut album, Cities of Illusion. Happily, the L.I.E.S regular has delivered something rather special. After beginning with the macabre, early morning ambient of "Ideal Place" - think warped vocal samples, dirt-encrusted textures and Cabaret Voltaire influences - the Argentine romps through a dark, atmospheric, on-point blend of rubbery EBM rhythms, metallic electronics, industrial textures, electro beats and mind-altering techno workouts. Given the vintage, left-of-centre nature of his influences, it's perhaps unsurprising that the set feels like a long lost relic of the '80s industrial scene, with just enough modern influences to keep it feeling fresh throughout.

Review: Always known as a wild maverick on the fringes of electronic music, Healing Force Project follows up on stellar appearances for Firecracker and Bedouin to deliver this incisive creation to Wicked Bass. With drums at strange angles and a certain touch of discordant dread around the synth tones lingering in the background, one would think "Kinetic Drawing" is a chaotic, clamouring mess, but instead it comes on like a poised, perfect slice of transcendental mystery. For those wanting a little structure to work such a mood into the mix, who better than Porn Sword Tobacco to shake a little salt into the track with his "Yoga BBQ Night Beach Edit"?

Classics such as "Overture" and "Convolution" as well as their impressive debut LP Phantoms showed a dedication to their craft; employing all analogue studio techniques recorded to tape for true sound authenticity. With the departure of Gustaf Wallnerstrom, the project is now the solo effort of Elias Landberg where on the new Balancing Point LP he proves that he has no problem holding the fort with this collection of purist, surefire techno executions. We particularly enjoyed the emotive stomp of "Air Walk" with its eerie chord progressions, the hypnotic reductionism of "Anode" being a perfect DJ tool to set cruise control, the deep and dubby drifter "Vertigo" being great for the warm up and the funky cyclicality of "Thesis".
