76-79 - "57 Hertz" (Czevski remix) (6:53)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "Because You Can't See Dreams In The Light" (5:59)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "L I W F U" (6:30)
Review: It's been a while since the Albion stable graced our platters, but they're back in style with more of that on-point house music voodoo for the heat of the night. This single is a vessel for the various sides of Tommi Vicari Jr, who rolls out his Czevski alias to deliver a bruising remix of "57 Hertz" by 76-79. It's a reverb-soaked, dubbed out affair with a rock solid rhythm section and plenty of trippy FX tweaking on top. On the flip it's a different story with a similar feeling as we get the straight up Tommi Vicari Jr material in the shape of two killer tracks crafted for transcendental moments of dancefloor hypnosis.

Sebastian Eduardo - "Separate Reality" (6:55)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "IDU" (6:47)
CMYK & Rubi - "Chicken Day" (6:59)
Christian Jay - "Liston 2" (6:14)
Review: Bosh! A new vinyl-only label from Barcelona hits our shelves, and it's clear that a new crew is born. The Kommuna Tapes imprint might only be on its first release, but iwe can already imagine this group of artists becoming noticeable members of the underground house and techno crew, not least because each one of these four tunes is an absolute killer. Sebastian Eduardo's opener is a stunner in every sense of the word, a shimmering techno tune with a bouncy, off-kilter dub flex that sits perfectly well with us, while "IDU" by Tommy Vicari Jr offers a vintage electro-house groove that brings us back to the golden era of the genre. Label heads CMYK and Rubi bang out the acid on their slow, meandering tune called "Chicken Day", whereas "Liston 2" by Christian Jay is the deepest of the house, a fidgety dance groove recalling Theo Parrish's Sound Signature style - those drums!

Nachtbraker - "Doble" (7:27)
Laurence Guy - "Love & Be Loved" (5:30)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "Aplomb" (7:15)
LK - "Honey" (4:35)
Review: The comic book-inspired Quartet Series returns to action, with another four studio superheroes joining the label's unofficial 'League of Extraordinary House Producers'. Returning hero Nachtbraker kicks things off with "Dobie", a quirky foray into percussion rich, jazz-house territory that packs serious dancefloor punch. Laurence Guy successfully breaks up the beats on the deep and woozy "Love & Be Loved", while Tommy Vicardi Jnr works his DJ Sneak style beats and cut-up samples hard on the deliciously energetic "Aplomb". Finally, LK doffs a cap to R&B, hip-hop and Detroit deep house on the pitched-down 4/4 shuffle of closer "Honey", which should appeal to those who enjoy the work of Marcel Vogel, Inkswel and Andres.

Hold On To Nothing (Gambino's Midnight Re Rub) (5:58)
Time To Let Go (8:17)
Time To Let Go (Al Bradley's 3am Deep remix) (8:07)
Review: Midnight Social Recordings is a label from Leeds run by Carlo Gambino. After a huge output of digital releases, the imprint has moved into the vinyl realm with its debut coming courtesy of the ever reliable Tommy Vicari Jr. There's four solid grooves on MSR001: the woozy and hypnotic late night groove of 'Hold On To Nothing' is led by its creamy Rhodes melody and long echo trails, receiving a Midnight Re Rub by Gambino up next - this is absolutely essential tackle for the after hours. Over on the flip, things remain on a lean tip with the hypnotic minimal tool 'Time To Let Go' which receives an ultra deep and dubby rendition by 3am Recordings boss Al Bradley. Tip!

Look In Your Eyes EP (incl Silverlining & Sweely remixes)

Look In Your Eyes (6:12)
Look In Your Eyes (Silverlining remix) (7:03)
Look In Your Eyes (Sweely remix) (5:15)
Look In Your Eyes (Politics Of Dancing & Djebali remix) (7:46)
Review: Sheffield based Tommy Vicari Jnr's chunky, tribal and vocal house tune 'Look In Your Eyes' has been big ever since it surfaced in 2004, and it still gets great crowd reactions to this day. Politics Of Dancing now re-issue it with a fine selection of new remixes. The original still sounds future with its silky synths and metallic drums, and the bassline really is killer. Silverlining steps up with a 90's house version that is all slick electronic funk. Sweely then speeds it up further, allowing the original vocal to really tug at the heart strings. Politics Of Dancing & Djebali link for a final stripped down version that is deep as you like.

Come Let Me Love You (7:05)
Halloagin (7:30)
Scandalous (6:42)
H C U Mafi (6:13)
Review: Steel city producer Tommy Vicari Jnr is a veritable man of the moment with a raft of 12"s already released in 2016 and plenty more on the way! This is of course good news for fans of his quality, tech-laced deep house music - and this debut for London label Nixwax is a fine addition to his growing discography. Taken as a whole, Come Let Me Love You displays Vicari Jnr's sheer diversity as a producer. Taut grooves, slick keys and deft vocal samples make for a bumping title track, whilst "Halloagin" offers a deeper side to Tommy's production palette. Face down, "Scandalous" has a life-affirming, feel good vibe to it whilst "H C U Mafi" ends on a more pensive note and pairs rolling percussive licks with some hefty sub bass.

Mic Ang EP
Cat: YAY 003. Rel: 08 Feb 16

Deep House
Horizot (8:20)
Mic Ang (5:55)
D&E (6:24)
Review: By now, Tommy Jr Vicari has accumulated an impressive number of releases on his catalogue, and we were taken aback when seeing that his first EP dates back to 2004, the days when house was turning into minimal, but also when the true house heads were still active and punishing dance floors with their love. In this vein, you could say that "Horizot" is a true house tune, through and through, and Vicari's heavy beats are mashed up with a hip hop sensibility, and some funky melodies. "Mic Ang" is bumpier, more playful, and breaks its groove down into a stop-start motion, while "D&E" goes deeper, lower and strips everything down to a placid mood.

Tommy Vicari Jnr - "YL" (5:23)
Janeret - "Traveller" (7:47)
John Shima - "Aftermath" (7:34)
Annie Errez - "Proxy Funk" (6:37)
Bobby ODonnell - "Nothing, No One" (7:33)
Review: Illusion Recordings steadily built up a strong reputation from its inception in 2011, reaching for producers such as Garry Todd, Volta Cab and Acid Mondays to push an agenda of deep, forward thinking house and techno. After a few years break, the label is back with a bang, celebrating its tenth release with a bumper double pack featuring some big hitters. Keith Worthy, Norm Talley, Tommy Vicari Jr, Annie Errez, John Shima - these are all serious talents that can't be ignored, and they more than deliver to make Illusion's return a seismic one. If it's engrossing club-ready tackle you're after, look no further.
