Review: Last year, and to mark the passing of a quarter of a century since the release of their rather colossal album The Fat of the Land, the Prodigy commissioned a swathe of new reworks of key cuts from the popular set. Now those remixes - or at least their favourites - have made it onto silver vinyl. The headline attraction is undoubtedly Andy C's revision of 'Firestarter', which retains many elements of the original (including the snarling guitars, twisted vocals and mind-mangling sounds), while adding a touch more d&b swing and a suitably sizable wobble bassline. Elsewhere, Mefjus joins forces with Camo & Crooked for a frankly nightmare-inducing rush through 'Breathe' - think thrash techno, and you're close - while Rene LaVice lays down a wobble-meets-jump-up revision of 'Mindfields' that's as gargantuan as it is brain-melting.

Review: Drum and bass pioneer Andy C can do no wrong, frankly. But we didn't see this one coming - a remix of one of the most iconic dance tunes of the last 25 years. The Ram Recordings boss does it justice though by bringing his own flavour to it thereby marking the 25th anniversary celebration of the release of the original album - The Fat Of The Land - it was on by XL Recordings. The executioner says, "this track means so much to me and has been a big part of my sets. Hope you enjoy the vibes." We sure do.

Review: Astonishingly, a quarter of a century has now passed since The Prodigy released The Fat of the Land, the inspired rock-rave fusion opus that helped rocket the Essex combo towards superstardom and converted a whole generation of spotty indie kids to the joys of rambunctious rave music. It's certainly worthy of this limited-edition anniversary pressing, which comes on eye-catching silver-coloured vinyl. Of course, we all know the smash hits - the bustling, acid-flecked roll of 'Smack My Bitch Up', ultra-heavy 'Firestarter' and funky, low-slung 'Breathe' - but the set's lesser-celebrated moments, such as hip-hop jam 'Diesel Power', Meat Beat Manifesto-esque 'Serial Thrilla' and punky 'Fuel My Fire' have aged equally as well.

Review: R&S seem to be in the midst of a curveball period at the moment; issuing the latest edition of Nico Jaar's Nymph series of singles, signing up tech house dons Tale Of Us, scoring a killer album from Blue Daisy. This wonderfully unpredictable streak continues apace here as Paula Temple terrorises "Roadblox", a cut off the recent album from Essex rave legends The Prodigy. It's an almighty clash of the P's with Temple realigning the original's drum and bass bombast into a full throttle techno monster. There's an instrumental too if you want all the wall shaking impact without the vocal gristle from Maxim.

By blending the psychedelic obsession of the Chemical Brothers and the rock-obsessed rhythms of big beat with their usual rave-influenced nastiness, Liam Howlett and company blew the competition out of the water. Almost overnight, they became international dance music's most in-demand live act. 15 years on, the album's lost none of its sparkle. This celebratory edition presents the remastered album in full, alongside a sextet of remixes. While they don't all hit the mark, Major Lazer and Noisia's booming reworks of "Smack My Bitch Up" are pretty darn tasty.

Four massive names on one EP, each of the reversions on offer pay respect to the mighty Prodigy while pushing their renowned hooks and riffs into wholly new territories. Noisia's take on "Smack My Bitch" up has been doing the rounds for a while now, and sound all the better for being on vinyl, Alvin Risk's version of "Firestarter" includes some sizzling potty mouthed sonics, Zed's Dead's rub of "Breathe" twists the original riff into an entirely new melody while Major Lazer follow Noisia's technique and just add the essential sparkles.
