Review: Shogun unleash another cheeky "Shuriken" surprise with four more modern day classics blessing wax for the first time. The A-side takes a distinct liquid approach as GLXY's "Changed Forever" plays with shades deftly, skipping between light and dark while Pola & Bryson's "Running In The Dark" will have you singing along within seconds. Meanwhile on the B Technimatic and Ed:it get busy on a dark rolling tip with "Slate Grey" while Monrroe closes the fourth edition of the series on a sweet soul tip with "You Got Me".

Review: Ending the year with not one, but four bangs: Friction's Shogun really aren't messing around right now. Representing all that's great about D&B right now, each cut bangs a different drum. Optiv & BTK's "Understand" is a floaty but furious vocal number, The Prototype's "Blackout" is the hardest cut they've released to date (we're talking Renegade Hardware levels of hard, here) Icicle's "Timer" is a hammer and tongs session with some serious techno mentality and Technimatic's "Solace" brings us back to the planet with grace; slinky and somnambulant, it's the perfect tonic to the madness.

Review: After many years in the game, Spearhead Records knows a thing or two about serving up music that gets dance floors in a spin. As such they use that knowledge now to look back into their back cat and offer up some of the tunes they have found to be the most requested over the years. It reads like a who's who of drum & bass big dawgs frankly and plays out like a killer set in its own right. Seba, LSB, Technimatic, Utah Jazz, Lenzman and Muffler are all called upon for everything from stripped-back and smooth liquid sounds to more roughed-up dancers.

Review: Rejoice! Technimatic return with their fourth studio album For All Of Us and it's another stunning immersive trip into some drum & bass's most musical and soulful corners. Always keeping the perfect balance between dreamy and dancefloor, flavours range from the mischievous rave twists of 'Coming Back' to the hazy halftime swoons of 'You Call Me' by way of rich DRS-fronted soul ('Risk Everything') and rattling feel-good Creative Source style liquid ('Moment To Moment') With less featured vocalists and more focus on timeless drum & bass vibes that they first made themselves known with, this is arguably one of Technimatic's best albums to date.

Review: Having launched their label Technimatic Music at the start of the year, Technimatic wrap up their 2021 output on this beautiful marbled blue vinyl. Six tracks in total, the full Technicolour and Komatic range is flexing hard here. 'Still Miss You' sparks the session with the soulful yearns of Charlotte Haining before we get deep into the groove with heads down cuts like the funk guitars of 'Everlasting', the ravey stabs of 'Minefield' and the utter gulliness of 'Makes Me.' Hungry for more of the duo's more sing-along styles and liquid flavours? Jump on 'Walk To You' (with singer Rhode) and the floatation anthem 'Gravity Reading'. Full flavours.

Review: Shogun duo Technicolour and Komatic cut their third album to deluxe wax comprising two white 12"s and two coloured 10"s... And it sounds every bit as good as it looks. Soulful yet varied in its scope and range, it's the most confident and clearest LP the duo have given us so far as it ranges from the darker, gnarlier minimal twists of "True Believer" to the more signature flourishing orchestration of cuts like "Weightless (feat Lucy Kitchen)" and naked introspection such as "The Nightfall (feat Jono McCleery)". And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Potential drum & bass album of the year.

Review: Rewind to 2014: the duo previously known as Technicolour & Komatic galvanize everything they'd done before with a debut album that boosted them several levels. Four years later and Desire Paths remains a vast and vibrant set rich in emotion in all directions. From evergreen soulful, highly strung roll-outs such as "Beneath The Skies", "Music Is Music" and "Night Vision" to darker pacers like "Innermost" and "Tectonic" via off-piste surprises like the jazzed out "Mucky Jeff", this debut album stands the test of time perfectly. Last pressed two years ago, now's your chance to grab the vinyl if you missed it before.

Review: Shogun soul soldiers Technimatic unleash the parts to some of their best tracks and share them with kindred rolling spirits. The results speak for themselves... Break adds a little dark Brizzle magic to the lads' already on-point west country homage, LSB flips "Parallel" into a seven minute rising feels-lifter while Perez licks up a little switch in the kicks on the bluesy Jono McCleery-fronted "Hold On A While" and Fracture tears "Parallels" a new one with his cutty/shutty break-rattling refix. Complete with two heavy VIPs from Technimatic themselves on red marbled vinyl and you've got yourself a winner.

Review:  Exactly two years since their debut album Desire Paths, Shogun duo Technicolour & Komatic dish up their sophomore and it's even slicker and consistent than the first. With a finely honed signature that's unmistakeably their own, no other act do liquid in this way. From the cloud-bouncing floatation session of "Parallel" and raw string power of "Clockwise" right the way through to the final salvos of the soulful mourns of "Hold On A While" and the halfstep dreaminess of "It Must Be", every track here has a purpose without so much of a hit being chased or a vocal being added for feature's sake. Authentic and unashamedly deep.

Review: Pete "Technicolour" Rogers and Andy "Komatic" Powell first joined forces as Techninamtic back in 2012, subsequently releasing their acclaimed debut album, Desire Paths, two years later. That album was considered something of a modern liquid D&B classic, and this follow-up is similarly inclined. Musically expansive, emotionally rich and hugely enjoyable, it sees the duo fluctuate between hazy, ear-pleasing vocal cuts (Jinadu, Zara Kershaw, Lucy Kitchen and Maiday all feature), sweeping, semi-cinematic anthems, and dreamy, LTJ Bukem-championed dancefloor shufflers. Throughout, the rhythms remain skittish and punchy, and the chords more comfortable than a heavyweight duvet in the midst of a bleak midwinter.

Review: Their first new material since their evergreen debut album Desire Paths, Shogun duo Technicolour and Komatic deliver four breezy rollers in time for the warmer months. "Secret Smile" is all about Lucy Kitchen's arresting delicate vocal while "Dirty Hands" takes us deeper into Reese territory with its surging bass and ghostly vocal echoes. Deeper again we hit the title track "Flashbulb", a reflective halftime stepper with another instantly infectious vocal texture. Bringing us to sweet, string-soaked steppy finale, "Remember You" pushes us further into the D&B cosmos with a timeless, almost progressive feel that wouldn't have gone amiss around 10 years ago. Stunning through and through; Technimatic can do no wrong right now.

Review: In their official biography, Technimatic describe their particular take on musically rich liquid D&B as "hyper-coloured". In many ways, it's an apt description. Certainly, there's a baggy vibrancy to this belated debut album, which is gloriously breezy and deliciously soulful from start to finish. There's an almost horizontal feel to the duo's classic blends of vintage jungle rhythms, drifting vocals - most notable on the beautiful "Looking For Dviversion", featuring the folksy voice of Lucy Kitchen - twinkling pianos, undulating strings and sun-bright chords. This kind of liquid jungle is always eminently listenable, but Andy Powell and Peter Rogers' particular take on the style is more cultured and mature than most. As a result, Desire Paths is an impressive and hugely enjoyable body of work.

Review: Beautifully presented on heavyweight clear vinyl with widescreen gatefold artwork, Technimatic's debut album is a heartfelt creative document from the off. Previously known as Technicolour and Komatic, since signing to Shogun as Technimatic, the duo has developed a stark liquid signature that's seeped in rich emotion and melody. Desire Paths is the zenith of their creative successes so far and is littered with highlights on every corner. From the swashing jungle breaks of "Beneath The Skies" to the resoundingly dark, twisted "Tectonic" via the slower, jazz-infused "Mucky Jeff", everything about this tingle with energy, passion and playability. Debut albums don't come any better than this.

Review: Originally released in 2012 (back when Technimatic were still Technicolour & Komatic) their crucial collab with LSB has been one of the many ace rewinds we've enjoyed this year since Artificial Intelligence resurrected Integral after two years silence. Calibre's remix has been especially dominant in summer selections, and here he's provided an alternative remix where the slim-line beats have been eschewed in favour of a heavier, rustier amen arrangement. Flip for LSB's superb update of "Serendipity". Touching, subtle and overwhelmingly spacious, it's a serious moment of liquid beauty.

Review: 12 years deep, 100 releases strong, Friction's Shogun imprint continues to spread the strong words with what's shaping up to be a very exciting series of exclusives. For the first EP we hit paydirt from the off as Ulterior Motive play the consummate robot charmers on "Radian". Cousins in crime Icicle and Proxima follow with a dagger-sharp tete-a-tete two-stepper while Technimatic provide essential contrast with the rainbow soul "Transference". Finally Alix Perez returns to Shogun for a cheeky minimal twist of Friction and Fourward's "Battle Scars". Gold on gold on gold, Shogun aren't messing around with their 100 series.

Review: Those Integral fans out there who indulged in last months 12" sampler for the Integral Select compilation will be like a kid let loose in a sweet shop at the sight of this vinyl edition, which packs four highlights across two slabs as well as gripping the full CD version. Having recently ended a label hiatus, Integral Select should find Artificial Intelligence pair Glenn Herweijer and Zula Warner reclaiming their place amongst D&B label royalty, effectively demonstrating how broad a hold they have on the genre as a style. The two plates feature three fresh remixes of classics from the Integral archives, with Alix Perez taking on Zero T's legendary "Refusal", and the heat continues with a Calibre tweak of Technicolour, Komatic and LSB's collab "Rotary Motion". Lenzman & Redeyes' 2009 liquid jazz anthem "Thieves In The Night" is reworked by Technimatic on the second plate and shares space with Scar's impressive Integral debut "Something From Nothing", a nasty concoction of heavy breaks and dirty funk basslines.
