Blacksoul presents Musical Globe - "Back To The 70's"
Sleazy McQueen - "Troutman Street Roller Disco"
Fabio Bacchini - "Freakin Jazz"
Tom Collins - "The Chaser" (Spettro's Really Green mix)
Review: A well balanced mix of newcomers and established artists getting together to throw down some funk. Blacksoul teams up with newcomer, Musical Globe, for a slice of disco heaven that is all about a wicked break. Sleazy McQueen drops a funk bomb on us, chopping up the samples just right and then killing it with that old school rap. Fabio Bacchini channels Chicago via Italy and works a classic sample, while Tom Collins is back and with a vengeance.

Bottin - "Ora Lo So" (5:48)
Sleazy McQueen - "Back To Hell" (6:33)
Albion - "Experimento" (3:54)
The Ivory Boy - "Mare" (5:18)
Avanti - "Bright Mezcal" (4:35)
Review: If you're going to launch a new re-edit series, it's probably wise to get some big hitters on board. That's certainly what the people behind Theme From Kaffe have done for their debut offering. Italian heavyweights Bottin lead the way with "Ora La So", a lo-slung, Clavinet-heavy chunk of dirty Balearica blessed with sleazy, whispered vocals. Sleazy McQueen continues the eccentric theme with the chugging reggae-disco bounce of "Back To Hell", before Albion ups the tempo on the dusty, vocoder-laden wonky disco chug of "Experimento". An excellent EP concludes with the sprawling soundtrack disco of Ivory Boy's "Mare" and "Bright Mezcal" by Avanti, a curiously bumpin chunk of dub disco weirdness blessed with alien synths and a brilliantly rubbery bassline.

Eddie C - "All Time Freak" (6:47)
Napoleon - "Over & Done" (6:12)
Sleazy McQueen & Vinyl Addicted - "Hot To Trot" (5:41)
Patchworks - "Batracien" (5:08)
Le Blanc - "We Can Fly" (4:40)
Review: Detroit/Houston joint venture Kolour are back with another instalment in the Tale Of Two Cities series - and this is one serious all star cast if we've ever seen it! The creme de la creme of nu-disco appears here, starting with crazy Canadian Eddie C kicking off the A side with the sunny slo-mo antics of "All Time Freak", followed by the one and only Napoleon! Simon Mills throws down some more of his usual sexy and lo-slung grooves on "Over & Done". On the flip, current scene favourite - the Whiskey Disco boss Sleazy McQueen teams up with Vinyl Addicted on a seriously hot edit of an underground classic (to those that know) on "Hot To Trot" while Lyon's Patchworks hands in another similarly 'respectful edit' on the sultry late night blues of "Batracien". Finally they head down under (to Adelaide, Australia that is!) for Le Blanc's funked up disco house jam "We Can Fly".

Sleazy Mcqueen & Vagabundo Club Social - "Chips Y Salsoul" (7:17)
Eddie C - "Be There" (7:07)
Review: Lovedancing's latest missive is something of an all-star affair, with Canadian hero Eddie C and Whiskey Disco boss Sleazy McQueen contributing tracks alongside Colombian producer Felipe Gordon and fast-rising scalpel fiend Vagabundo Club Social. The latter joins forces with Gordon for the deep house/deep Latin disco fusion of "Basilio" - all jammed-out Rhodes riffs, heavily percussive grooves and chanted vocals - which is in turn re-imagined as a horn-heavy Latin disco-funk workout by Eddie Stomp. The Vagabundo returns to action alongside regular studio partner Sleazy Mcqueen on B-side opener "Chips Y Salsoul" - warm and deep disco-house vibes with added trumpet solo action - before Eddie C rounds things off with the shuffling, string-laden disco-house loveliness of "Be There".

The Noodleman - "That Word Again"
Sleazy McQueen - "Take It Ez"
Osmose - "I Was"
Review: Slo-mo, steamy and sexy... Those three words could sum up pretty much every excellent Smokecloud release, but these three tracks are purpose built for the more sensual sessions you might wish to soundtrack. Each one purrs with low-end sultriness while shimmering with all the disco motifs we've come to expect from such a discerning label. Noodleman's "That Word Again" finds inspiration in the German quarters, Sleazy McQueen devilishly teases us with vocal fractures buried deep under a throbbing bass groove and finally Osmose brings us to the most hypnotic close possible with a bed of dubbed out percussion and otherworldly loops that build and twist. Ready for bed yet?

You Know How (Century remix)
Review: Sleazy's original enjoyed so much success digitally earlier on this year the good cats at CVMR have invested in a vinyl outing..... And boy does it sound good. Every shade and style of disco and house are represented here in the best possible form: The Revenge lays down a deep, bouncy dub, Sleazy dons his Space Coast guide and tags up with Romano Arcaini for a minor-key jazz house swing, Kasper Bjoke looks to the late 80s Chicago and parties like Hardy while Century completes the set on a smouldering progressive romp that's every bit cosmic as it is heavy.

Dancing In The Streets
In The Year 2014
Review: Following his recent appearance on Smokecloud, Sleazy returns to his Whiskey Disco home to celebrate their 25th release. As you'd expect from McQueen, it's an instant disco funk showdown laced with all manner of well dug sources and sounds. From the tight loop and lolloping bass of "Teeny Lovin'" to the more upfront glitter-sprinkled funk of "In The Year 2014" via an extended, head-turning cover of "Dancing In The Streets", each one of these cuts sparkles with Sleazy's skills and reminds us that Whiskey Disco are still very much on-point with every single release.

I'm Working All Night (Anthony Mansfield remix)
Review: A bleepy swamp funk and blippy indie crooning builds into a frustrated ball of buxom dance floor possibilities on this release on the Eight Tracks label. Remix duties fall into the hands of Anthony Mansfield (Hector Works) who lays down some spacey Italo-funk with a bit of help from twisted house man of the moment Nick Chacona. Atnarko unleashes a squelchy thumper that makes your toes wanna tingle. Lastly Jaywood surprises with a heavy jacking house mix.

Anna Due (Ooft! remix)
Anna Due (Social Disco Club remix)
Anna Due (Cole Medina's vocal mix)
Anna Due (Cosmic Boogie remix)
Review: Sleazy McQueen reacquaints our ears with his Anne Montone collaboration, the very Crazy P sounding "Anna Due" which cut a swathe of applause upon its original release on Moodmusic in May 2009 with everyone from Twitch to San Soda impressed. Released through McQueen's own Whisky Disco imprint, some discoid heavyweights have been called upon to remix the track with OOFT, Social Disco Club, Cosmic Boogie providing new interpretations along with the Cole Medina remix which featured on the original She Was Totally My Disco Muse release. First up OOFT discards with the original's disco overtones and delves deep into hypno house territory, a similar ploy undertaken by Social Disco Club but with more of an emphasis on throbbing bass. On the flip, Medina's chuggier effort still sounds fresh today whilst Cosmic Boogie impresses with a late night Liverpudlian jam.

The Walking Beat (original mix)
The Walking Beat (Shake Your Ass version)
The Walking Beat (Cole Medina remix)
The Walking Beat (Bobby Starrr remix)
Review: On this outing for Glenview, Whiskey Disco main man Sleazy McQueen delivers a formidable blast of glitter-laden P-funk. In original form, "The Walking Beat" sounds like a hoedown between Prince, Parliament and James Brown. It's the kind of record you can't help dancing to. The "Shake Your Ass Version" adds a little ghetto-house swing - all sturdy handclaps, heavy sub and cut-up vocals - before Cole Medina gives it more of a James Brown feel (whilst also sampling up Gwen Guthrie's "Seventh Heaven"). Finally, Bobby Starr turns McQueen's original into a bouncy chunk of old skool piano house. Fun times all round.

Sleazy McQueen - "The Wrong Virrey" (7:11)
Dicky Trisco - "And The Groove Goes On & On" (6:53)
Labor Of Love - "After Dark" (6:16)
Review: Is there room in the realm of vinyl only disco edits labels for another operation? Labor Of Love certainly proved there was with the inaugural bout of edits that dropped on their much loved debut 12" earlier this year. Whereas the scalpel artists on that 12" remained uncredited, Labor Of Love reveal all on this second transmission with edit regulars Sleazy McQueen and Dicky Trisco joining the fray alongside the label owners themselves. It's the drunken disco styles of Whiskey Disco man Sleazy McQueen that kicks things off on horn-laden, dubbed out groover "The Wrong Virrey" which is a solid A-side dancefloor pleaser. Down below, "And The Groove Goes On & On" finds old Dicky operating at more of a funked out slo-mo pace, whilst Labor of Love's "After Dark" is reminiscent of early Mark E and features some resplendent disco string arrangements.

Sleazy McQueen - "I Wanna Change You" (6:07)
Sleazy McQueen - "Lost In Music" (Lullaby) (1:26)
Review: Think of this as an early Christmas present from the Whiskey Disco camp: a five-track assault containing fresh edits, reworks and bonus material from label head honcho Sleazy McQueen and pal Obas Nenor. There's naturally plenty of floor-filling material throughout, from the sumptuous sensuality of opener "Love Theme" - all gently undulating grooves, eyes-closed vocal samples and twinkling late night musicality - to the dubbed-out disco-funk of "I Like My Girls (Redux)", and Moroder-ish machine disco pulse of "I Wanna Change You". There's also a curious, but rather good, lullaby-style cover version of the Chic-penned Sister Sledge classic "Lost In Music"; think of that as a gift to disco dads everywhere.

Sleazy McQueen - "TTOF" (4:43)
Osmose - "Do What Cha Doin" (4:28)
Review: Smokecloud come correct with this stunning doublet. The A-side is taken care of by Whiskey Disco head honcho Sleazy McQueen. What begins as a frenetic post-funk DFA style jam, "TTOF" suddenly switches into an all-out disco adventure with big strings, brassy vocals and a seriously hedonistic groove. Osmose takes care of the B with much sexier, slower jam. Editing Captain & Tennille's "You Never Done It Like That" with clarity and care, it's the perfect foil to Sleazy's full-flavoured disco joint. Hand-stamped and limited, this needs your attention now!

Sleazy McQueen & Vagabundo Club Social - "Boh!" (7:41)
The Rejected - "O Craque De Futbol" (6:50)
Pontchartrain - "Have A Little Taste" (7:04)
Review: Whiskey Disco's first missive of 2018 is something of a sweaty beast, with a quartet of producers stepping up to deliver some sticky dancefloor heat. Label chief Sleazy McQueen joins forces with Vagabundo Social Club on A-side edit "Boh!", a slamming rework of a Bohannon-esque disco-funk jam rich in hard guitar riffs and crunchy Clavinet lines. The Rejected takes a different approach on the flipside, serving up a rolling, delay-laden tweak of celebratory, soccer-themed Brazilian club jam "O Craque De Futbol". Sunny, funky and low-slung, it's accompanied on side B by the gently housed-up swamp funk of Pontchartrain's "Have a Little Taste". Given the quality of the EP, we're more than happy to follow that instruction.

Review: Editor's Kutz on an RSD tip limited to 500 presses.... You just know this is going to be special. Apparently this has been work in progress since last October, but the hard work has paid off as an array of long lost cuts get treatments from the very best in the game. Case in point: Riccio's epic cosmic star gazer "Space Traveller" Em Vee's deep, dubby and hypnotic "Dance The Blues Away". More well-known classics to go under the knife include Jean Clause Gavri's stomping, emotion-soaked twist on a cover of Al Green with "Stay 2gether", Luvless's warm and loopy take on Stephanie Mills with "My Luvin" and JKriv's absolute dream-weaver shake up of Earth Wind & Fire's "Horizonte". Beautiful.

Review: Number #5 in VinylAddicted's popular Editors Kutz series has been split into two parts with this first 12", arriving on rather dashing pink vinyl, featuring contributions from Luvless, Trujillo, Jean Claude Gavri and Sleazy McQueen who collaborates with the label boss. Indeed they call shotgun with a breezy disco number "Lonely D", complemented well by the star struck strut of the Luvless rework of "My Luvin". Trujillo's edit of "Get Up And Dance" has one of those grooves that will rescue any dancefloor whilst Monsieur Gavri offers some Soulful Relief with a nice closing tweak of an unknown disco cover of Al Green classic "Stay Together".

Pontchartrain - "1515 Broadway Revisited" (feat Larry Love - Jacques Renault Brooklyn BK live remix) (6:40)
Review: As the title makes clear, this tasty 12" from Lovedancing sees Brooklyn producer Jacques Renault deliver fresh interpretations of killer cuts from the label's vaults. Renault first offers up a deliciously sweaty, loose-limbed take on Vagabundo Club Social and Sleazy McQueen's "Chips Y Salsoul", placing the original's familiar electric piano motif and muted trumpet samples atop a densely layered Latin house groove, before joining the dots between dub disco and proto house on a rework of Vagabundo Club Social's "Pambele". Over on side B he delivers two takes on Pontchartrain's "1515 Broadway Revisited": a lolloping disco-house "BK Club Remix" and a "BK Live Remix" that sounds like it was done in one take, dub style, in the same manner as proto-house legend Paul Simpson's influential 1980s mixes.

Doc Jam - "In Your Eyes" (5:28)
Review: There's usually plenty of A-grade material to be found in the Editor's Kutz EPs, and this sixth volume in the popular re-edit series is no different. Chief amongst these is The Silver Rider's "Good Lovin' Baby", a chunky disco-funk roller - slightly straightened out for contemporary dancefloors - that boasts a terrific, string-drenched breakdown. There's also something deliciously glassy-eyed about Doc Jam's "In Your Eyes", a tasty, house style loop-jam that expertly cuts up a familiar disco classic. Elsewhere, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee provide a dubby take on Marcos Valle's Brazilian boogie classic "Estrelar" ("Stellar Dub"), and Vinyladdicted joins forces with Sleazy McQueen for a trip into groovy, AOR disco territory.
