Review: Seahawks (Lo Recordings brain Jon Tye, together with musical maverick Pete Fowler) are at the top of the new age Italo-ambient game, and has been for a solid while. Their various self-released cassettes, LPs and CDs have been circulating since 2010, when they established a brand of psychedelic ambient tinged with orange-purple heat-haze and seagull-calling coastal themes. The new album 'Infinite Echo' represents a new phase in their career; they've got the resources to put out LPs now, and new wax cuts like 'Beams Of Love' reflect the dreamiest aspects of their production. Go forth and reverberate 'till the end of time.

Review: 11 years after first release, The Seahawks finally put out their 2010 album Secrets of The Deep on vinyl. It was only available as a strictly limited bonus CD back then, too, so has always been hard to come by. It is a fine collection of space ocean edits that very much set the tone for The Seahawks's sound with marina drone, deck shoegaze, cosmic yacht rock and deep drench all being fitting descriptors. Tracks like 'Hot Tub' are by now stone cold classics that have been used in many a set while 'Sun Trails' is perfect for laying back in the hot sun - just as soon as it arrives.

Review: Since Seahawks have traditionally made vivid, atmospheric and picturesque music capable of taking you to vibrant imaginary worlds, we're not that surprised to find that their latest album, "Island Visions", was recorded as a tribute to the legendary library music label KPM. As a result, it's a varied affair, with their usual blissful Balearic soundscapes - all humid tropical sound effects, glistening slow guitars and psychedelic grooves - being bolstered by extra glassy-eyed rhythms, jazzy musical flourishes (flutes etc), tribal style drum work and fretless bass courtesy of guest musician Sven Atherton (whose killer cut "The Cove" operates within similar sonic territory). The whole thing makes for superb, sun-kissed listening of the type that can brighten up even the most miserable of days.

Review: Earlier this year, cosmic excavationists supreme Emotional Rescue served up Whichever Way You Are Going You Are Going Wrong, an excellent retrospective of the Ives brothers that has rightfully featured on many end of year reissue lists. Suitably inspired, the cosmic captains known as The Seahawks set about making music with Woo's vivid brand of electro acoustic folk in their mind with the first fruits present on this 12". Released jointly by Emotional Rescue and The Seahawks Ocean Moon label, Adventures in the land of Woo is quite suitably titled. These two long form tracks essentially recast strains of Clive and Mark's music in the thick tapestry of texture and delay that has become the Seahawks trademark, though adding Horizontal to the start of the title would be more appropriate!

Review: The Invisible Sunrise remix series from Seahawks reaches its intended conclusion and you could say the duo have saved the best till last! Quiet Village come through with a self styled 'Cosmic Clam Bake' take on "Crystal Beach" that stretches past thirteen minutes of wonderfully tropical jungle chuggery but could easily dip into infinity without any danger of becoming boring. On the flip, Jon Brooks dons The Advisory Circle banner to mould "Calling Always" into an equally memorable arrangement of slo mo atmospherics whilst Seahawks themselves round out the 12" with their own 5AM Eternal version of "Crystal Beach" that's quite accurately described as sounding like "George Benson tripping on a beach in Hawaii at 5am".

Review: An impeccably lavish return for Seahawks aka Lo Recordings' John Tye and Pete Fowler, with Tender Abyss an expanded and much needed vinyl edition of the duo's 2010 Cdr for Bunkland Records. A further six tracks have been added to the original edition, and all twelve tracks have the Seahawks setting sail from their traditional beautifully textured horizontal landscapes of Greater Balearica for a musical tone more reminiscent of those celebrated American synth auteurs Daniel Lopatin and Mark Maguire of Emeralds fame. You can't really accuse Fowler and Tye of trudging up mere pastiches however, as all the tracks here are resplendent with the signature attention to detail that has drenched all the Seahawks output to date. Tender Abyss is a fully immersive and quite hypnotic listen and comes replete with the usual swoon-worthy packaging, with a 500 pressing of clear blue 12"s housed in a clear plastic sleeve and accompanied by full colour labels, various heavyweight colour prints and stickered logos.

Review: Those with a penchant for glistening soundscapes and hazy Balearica will already be aware of decidedly cosmic production duo Seahawks. Having impressed with a handful of acclaimed 12" singles, Invisible Sunrise marks their first attempt at mastering the art of the full-length. As debut albums go, it's hugely impressive, shuffling between sun-blushed fusions inspired by yacht-rock, classic ambient, cosmic disco, AOR, Peter Green-ish blues, dub, Animals-era Pink Floyd and, of course, curious Balearica. Most of the tracks barely get above a horizontal pulse, but their sound selection and composition is first class. One for those fuzzy post-club moments where you just want to lie down and zone out.

Review: "The closest thing to instant beach teleportation." So reads the sticker that adorns this sumptuous 7" + CD package from serial Balearic bandits Seahawks. On the 7" you'll find two versions of the jazz soaked "No More Raindrops" (the Steel Pan dub is particularly smoky). The five track CD, housed in delectable artwork, contains tracks entitled "Candy Coloured Lady", "Eternal Swell" and "Ghost Reef": enough said really, although let us finish by stating that the glacial beats and bikini clad keys on "Winter Deep Summer High" marks it out as our pick of the bunch.

Review: Spaceships Over Topanga Canyon is a brilliantly psychedelic journey into the outer reaches of the Seahawks sonic galaxy and supposedly the first of many self styled vinyl-only Vision Quests from the duo. Rich in ambient textures, proggy sonics and drenched in a swathe of narcotic delay, the tracks here brilliantly meld into one another with typically hypnotic results. After a year in which Seahawks unveiled their project with a series of highly sought after twelve inch releases, a seven inch picture disc and innumerable downloads on their website, 2011 seems like they will follow in similarly "blink and you'll miss their releases" fashion.

Review: Now here's a record that's just drenched in classiness. Seahawks build on the sumptuous Captains Log twelve inches with a gloriously expansive reworking of Badly Drawn Boy who seems to have escaped the clutches of an EMI record deal with his hat intact. Whilst the thirteen minutes of luxurious cosmiche rhythms steeped in an array of tape delay, psychedelic drone and cavernous vocal manipulation mark this as one of Seahawk's finest productions to date, it's the additional aesthetic touches that make it the vinyl obsessives' wet dream. Wrapped in artwork designed by Pete Fowler and backed with a painting by numbers insert, the vinyl itself is one sided with some additional Fowler etched artwork on the flip.

Review: Here's something of a treat for those of a Balearic persuasion: a musical meeting of minds between the ever magnificent Seahawks and the similarly talented Eddie C, on the latter's Red Motorbike imprint. "Say Hello To Love" sounds like it was created to accompany long, endless sunsets, with woozy guitar lines, gravelly vocals and swirling chords wrapping themselves around a lolloping groove. Things get trippy on the flip, where all parties neck a whole load of hallucinogens and lay down the kind of psychedelic fusion of electronics, effects-laden guitars and hissing percussion of which dear old Syd Barrett would no doubt approve.
